More Blue Flag Certification beaches to come up in AP
Visiting Rushikonda in Visakhapatnam on Thursday along with Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Visakhapatnam District Collector Harindhira Prasad and GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, the minister informed that few more Blue Flag beaches would be developed in Andhra Pradesh. Assuring shopkeepers and lifeguards that the government would resolve their issues brought to his attention, the minister informed that they discussed measures required to increase the tourists' footfall at the beach.
Later, Kandula Durgesh inspected the double-decker EV buses that will ply along the beach road. He said that the double-decker buses, which are going to be a tourist attraction, will soon be operated in Visakhapatnam. They will provide an enjoyable ride for the tourists and city residents.
Minister Kandula Durgesh expressed hope that the double-decker buses will take Visakhapatnam's tourism sector to the next level. He said that Blue Flag Beach Certification is an international level recognition given based on meeting several parameters. This will increase the revenue sources for the government and create employment opportunities to the locals.
Further, the minister stated that they are focusing on facilities to be provided to the visitors at the beach stretches, including play zones for children and increased greenery, he informed. The Tourism Minister stressed that priority will be given to watersports, wellness centres, eco and adventure tourism.
He said that the Visakhapatnam Port Authority built the international cruise terminal with all amenities and it has been decided to operate it for four times till September. Later, steps will be taken to operate the cruise 365 days, he added.
Later, the minister interacted with students on how the tourism sector aids in providing employment opportunities. The session was organised in the presence of Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinviasa Rao, Sun International Institute Tourism and Management chairman and managing director Srikanth Jasti, and executive director Asha Jasti. The minister lauded the efforts of the institution's management and added that it stands as the top institution in Andhra Pradesh in the hospitality sector. In the days to come, he assured that efforts will be taken to set up a tourism university in Visakhapatnam.
Speaking on the occasion, Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinviasa Rao remarked that students are now showing keen interest in pursuing tourism and hospitality course and appreciated the Sun International management for its commitment and dedication in steering the students towards achieving their goals.

The Telugu Film Industry Employees' Federation (TFIEF) initiated the strike, demanding a 30% wage hike, split as a 10% increase per year over three years. The union argues that wages have remained stagnant for three years despite a rising cost of living. In response, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce offered a conditional wage increase of 15-20% for lower-paid workers, with stipulations such as 12-hour workdays and more flexible hiring practices. However, the TFIEF rejected this offer, deepening the stalemate. In Andhra Pradesh, a delegation of producers including BVSN Prasad, DVV Danayya, and KL Narayana met with Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh in Vijayawada. The producers said they had not come to discuss the federation employees strike but other issues related to the film industry's development in the state. Kandula Durgesh said the government may not have a role in the strike that will have to be mutually resolved by the film producers and the federation. "I will pass on their message to the chief minister and deputy chief minister," he said. According to reports, the producers did not directly discuss the workers' strike with the minister, stating that the Film Chamber and Federation would handle the matter. The delegation also requested an appointment with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to discuss the industry's growth in Andhra Pradesh. The Strike Has Intensified In Hyderabad, a separate group of producers, including Telangana FDC Chairman Dil Raju, Gemini Kiran, and Home Secretary Ravi Gupta, met with Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in Hyderabad. The discussion reportedly centered on the ongoing problems within the industry, particularly the employee strike. The Telangana minister has previously shown support for the workers' demand, saying there is a need to increase wages. The strike has intensified the conflict between producers and the employees' federation. Producers argue that a 30% hike is unsustainable, especially for small-budget films, and comes at a time when the industry is already under financial strain from factors like declining theatre audiences and reduced OTT rights. The Film Chamber has also accused the Federation of demanding excessively high membership fees, which they claim act as a barrier for new talent trying to enter the industry. In response to the strike, the Chamber has instructed its members not to engage in separate negotiations with individual unions and has called for non-union professionals to work with them at mutually agreeable wages.

Gujarat: Vadnagar to get Rs 17-crore multi-modal hub, CM Patel inspects progress
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the heritage city of Vadnagar to review the progress of key state and Central government development projects aimed at transforming the town into a major tourism hub. A highlight of the visit was the inspection of the Rs 17-crore Multi-Modal Transportation Hub and public plaza under construction opposite Vadnagar Railway Station. The facility, designed to connect the station with the town's major heritage attractions, will offer parking, an amphitheatre, a food plaza, rest areas, cafes, and landscaped pathways. Plans also include planting over 2,000 trees in the surrounding area. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure high-quality work and better coordination between the Railways and the state Tourism Department to complete the project on schedule. Parking unregulated, city spirals into chaos
Chennai: Nearly a month after Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) stopped collecting parking fees, the city's streets have slipped into gridlock — vehicles are crammed into every inch of roadside space, shopkeepers illegally charge visitors, and prime zones such as Marina, Mylapore, Purasawalkam, and T Nagar are choking without regulation. The mess began after GCC's contract with TEXCO, which earlier managed parking fee collection across the city, ended on July 20. With no alternative system in place, parking has turned chaotic: shopkeepers at beaches and commercial hubs are demanding arbitrary fees, two-wheelers and cars are spilling into no-parking zones, and traffic police have largely stepped back from enforcement. "Earlier, when the civic body charged for two-wheeler parking, collectors often demanded more than the official rate. Now, there is no regulation at the beach, and the newly inaugurated proposed Blue Flag zone is overwhelmed with crowds. Even with traffic police at entry points, flow control is abysmal. In Mylapore, locals allege showroom dealers block bus route roads with barricades to reserve parking for customers, forcing temple visitors to park on the road and adding to congestion. "Despite repeated complaints, including on social media, the issue is ignored," said B Neelakantan of Vivekanandapuram residents welfare association, Mylapore. In T Nagar, Rameshwaram Street resident Sooriya Basheer said two-wheelers now occupy every corner, including no-parking zones, without police action. "Earlier, when fees were collected, traffic police towed away vehicles in no-parking areas. Now, even stormwater drain slabs are used as parking spaces. The multi-level car parking has also remained defunct for the past few weeks," he said. Core areas such as T Nagar and MC Road will soon come under the Smart City project, with monitoring via the integrated command and control centre (ICCC). Cameras will be installed, and parking charges here will remain unchanged for now, said mayor R Priya. Deputy mayor M Mahesh Kumar said a region-wise study on parking models is underway, and tenders will be floated this month.
