Two men are believed to be trapped inside an abandoned mine close to Duvha Park in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga.
Witbank News reports that, according to information received, the men went to the mine with a group to 'hustle'.
Police were on the scene with search dogs, but have found no sign of the missing men so far.
'The two missing men have been trapped inside the abandoned mine since June 13 and cannot be found,' says Vosman Police Station spokesperson Captain Vusi Mnisi.
'The site is extremely dangerous, and it is very risky to retrieve them. We are currently waiting to hear from the mine management to see if they will assist with recovery efforts,' he adds.
This comes after a missing person's report was filed following one man's failure to return home.
According to police, the missing man told his girlfriend he was going to Vosman Cycle near KG Mall but never came back.
After attempts to reach him failed, family members were informed by an unknown man driving a white Mercedes-Benz that the missing man and another person were stuck inside the mine while three others escaped.
The man left without providing full details or identification.
Hulisani Rasivhaga, Thungela's head of communications, has confirmed the incident.

Help lay ‘beautiful soul' to rest

Friends of a man who was found deceased in the burned-down house in Van Wyk Louw Street are reaching out for donations to cremate him. Johannes Breedt died on June 17. According to his death certificate, he died of natural causes. Unieta Swanepoel, who knew Breedt described him as a beautiful soul who was snatched away by heroin. 'We loved and cared for him and always tried to get him off the streets. We would feed him; and allow him to have a hot shower and a warm bed. But it was always just for a day or two before he would disappear again,' Swanepoel said. She said he was sick and weak the Wednesday before his death when he visited her at home. 'I asked him if he used, and he replied he did not have money. When we found him, he had no blanket, just lying on boxes, frozen. I think he was so weak he couldn't get up to look for something warm and froze to death.' Although cremation is a more affordable option, it still carries a considerable cost. The cremation is estimated to cost R10 000. Swanepoel paid R1 000 and is pleading to the community to, in the shadow of drug addiction, show kindness and help her lay her friend to rest. If you can assist, you can contact Swanepoel at 061 500 3488. Judge to deliver final blow? Diddy's fate looms in New York trial

Judge Arun Subramanian presided over the criminal trial United States v. Combs, which started on 5 May 2025, in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Sean 'Diddy' Combs is facing five federal charges: one for conspiracy to commit racketeering, two for sex trafficking by force, and two for transporting individuals for prostitution. He pleaded not guilty, and authorities are holding him at MDC Brooklyn under the inmate number 37452 054. Additionally, all twelve jurors (eight men and four women) are New York State residents. Over six weeks, prosecutors called 34 witnesses, including Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura and an unknown woman, known only as 'Jane'. Ventura, 38, said Combs forced her to participate in drug-fuelled group sexual activities involving urine and subjected her to constant physical and mental abuse. She also said that Combs threatened to send out sex videos to control her. Brendan Paul, Sean Combs' assistant from late 2022 to March 2024, testified on 20 June 2025 after prosecutors granted him immunity. Paul also said that he planned 'freak-offs', which he described as parties full of drugs and sex. He said the terms 'Gucci bag active' and 'Wild King nights' were code words for drug and sex parties, respectively. After six weeks and thirty-four witnesses, the prosecution will wrap up its case on 23 June 2025. Combs Global employees and an expert witness will testify during Sean 'Diddy' Combs' defence, which is expected to last one to two days. However, Combs is not going to testify. The judge has hinted that closing arguments could begin as early as 26 June 2025; it is anticipated that they will begin shortly after the defence is finished. According to federal sentencing guidelines in the United States, Combs faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. If convicted of crimes such as sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, Combs could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
