Grok AI to Launch Text-to-Video Generation Feature in October for Premium Users

Hans India5 days ago
Grok AI, the advanced conversational assistant developed by Elon Musk's xAI, is preparing to unveil a groundbreaking feature that will enable users to generate videos from text prompts. According to a recent announcement, this new functionality will be released in October 2025, with early access granted to Super Grok subscribers.
The feature will be powered by Grok's Imagine capability, which is built on the Aurora engine. It allows users to transform simple text descriptions into full-fledged videos, complete with synchronized audio. This innovation expands Grok's existing creative suite, which already includes image generation and voice-based interactions.
Elon Musk confirmed the development by reposting Grok's announcement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, 'You'll soon be able to generate videos on Grok. Download the standalone @Grokapp and subscribe.' The move signals a significant step forward for xAI as it competes with other AI giants in the race to deliver advanced generative media tools.
In an official post on X, the Grok team explained, 'Video generation is coming to Grok via our Imagine feature, powered by Aurora. Create instant videos with sound from text prompts. Download the standalone Grok app, subscribe to Super Grok, and join the waitlist for early access in October.'
At present, users can sign up for the waitlist through the standalone Grok app. The early rollout will be exclusive to Super Grok subscribers, a premium plan priced at $30 per month. Broader access to the feature is expected in subsequent phases after the initial launch.
This update adds another layer to Grok's rapidly evolving capabilities. Besides conversational AI, the app already supports image creation and voice chat, enabling users to generate rich multimedia content within a single platform.
Earlier this year, xAI also introduced customizable AI companions for Grok. The first batch of digital avatars includes:
Valentine, inspired by fictional icons like Edward Cullen from Twilight and Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey
inspired by fictional icons like Edward Cullen from Twilight and Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey Ani, a dark-themed anime-style character
a dark-themed anime-style character Rudy, a red panda avatar
These companions are exclusively available to Super Grok users and can be accessed directly within the app.
Grok AI forms a core part of the X Premium+ subscription, which bundles multiple advanced features for power users. Super Grok subscribers currently enjoy premium perks such as DeepSearch, real-time data access, and enhanced image generation tools. The upcoming video creation functionality is expected to further enhance the platform's appeal among content creators, storytellers, and digital artists.
With this new addition, Grok is poised to become one of the most versatile AI-powered creative platforms available today, continuing to push the envelope in generative AI innovation.

Elon Musk reveals why AI won't replace consultants anytime soon—and it's not what you think

The threat of artificial intelligence taking away many jobs previously conducted by humans is real, and reports are now emerging daily that show how the new technology is changing the workforce. One job in particular that has been cited by various reports as under threat of being replaced by AI is that of an analyst. A new report by The Wall Street Journal revealed that global consulting firm McKinsey is going through an 'existential transformation' since artificial intelligence can now do the bulk of the work done by the firm's highly paid consultants within minutes. Artificial intelligence is being seen as such a big threat inside the company that it is reportedly a topic of conversation at every meeting of its board, and it has also changed how the company works with clients, how it hires, and even what projects it takes on. Bob Sternfels, McKinsey's global managing partner, told the Journal that the company is rapidly deploying thousands of AI agents to assist consultants in building PowerPoint decks, taking notes, summarizing interviews, and research documents. Kate Smaje, a senior partner in charge of leading McKinsey's AI efforts, told WSJ, 'Do I think that this is existential for our profession? Yes, I do.' 'I think it's an existential good for us,' Smaje added. Going against the popular tide, xAI CEO Elon Musk stated that AI would not replace consultants, given that they are mostly deployed to confirm the decision that the CEO was already thinking of taking. In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) citing the WSJ report, Musk wrote, 'Some say that the main reason corporate CEOs use consultants is to have an 'objective third-party' confirm the decision they were going to make anyway and have someone else to blame if it goes wrong.' 'AI can't replace that yet,' Musk added. Musk's xAI also runs an AI chatbot called Grok and competes with the likes of Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude in the artificial intelligence race. The chatbot received its last model update a few weeks ago and was involved in a number of controversies when it suddenly started showing some love for Adolf Hitler and later tried to toe Musk's line on political issues. xAI later attributed these issues to deprecated code and issued a fix to resolve the problem. In the last few days, Musk has been promoting a new Grok feature that can generate videos using text prompts, called 'Imagine'. The feature is similar to the Sora model by OpenAI and Google's Veo 3

Elon Musk left in awe by insane video of dancers channelling electricity through Tesla coils

A jaw-dropping performance from the 2025 Qingdao International Beer Festival in China has captured global attention, not just for its stunning visuals but for the science behind the spectacle. The act, featuring two performers using Tesla coils to pass visible streams of electricity between them as they danced, has since gone viral and even drew praise from none other than Elon Musk. In the now-viral clip, the two performers don custom-designed suits that shield their bodies from high-voltage electricity. (X/MarioNawfal) In the now-viral clip, the two performers don custom-designed suits that shield their bodies from high-voltage electricity. They each use large Tesla coils, which generate high-frequency, high-voltage electrical energy. As they spin metal rods and twirl with choreographed precision, arcs of electricity visibly leap from one performer to the other, seemingly defying danger and logic. However, the dancers are unarmed as their suits direct the current over the surface of their bodies rather than through them. Since there's no path for the electricity to discharge into the ground, the two could continue dancing in an awe-inspiring visual. Social media users around the world were captivated by the act and among the impressed was Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who responded with a simple yet telling reaction on X: 'Wow.' Others on social media were astounded by the spectacle. "Whoa, that was absolutely mind-blowing! How on earth did they pull that off? It felt like something straight out of a sci-fi movie—completely mesmerising and unbelievably impressive!" said one of them. Another added, "Amazing, a never-seen-before sight. But frightening. That looks like a very high voltage being transmitted through two humans. Frightening. It's worth preserving this video."

Musk's AI chatbot Grok deletes anti-Semitic posts following backlash

Grok, the chatbot developed by Elon Musk's company xAI, removed several "inappropriate" posts from X following criticism from users and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) over content laced with anti-Semitic tropes and praise for Adolf Hitler, France 24 reported. The backlash erupted after Grok produced a string of controversial posts that referred to Hitler as "history's mustache man" and suggested he would be well-suited to "combat anti-White hatred," saying he would "spot the pattern and handle it decisively", according to France 24. "We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts," the chatbot posted on X. In a follow-up statement, xAI said, "Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X. xAI is training only truth-seeking and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved." According to France 24, the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organisation combating anti-Semitism, strongly condemned the output generated by Grok. "What we are seeing from Grok LLM right now is irresponsible, dangerous and anti-Semitic, plain and simple. This supercharging of extremist rhetoric will only amplify and encourage the antisemitism that is already surging on X and many other platforms," the ADL stated on X. This is not the first time Grok has come under scrutiny. In May, the chatbot invoked the notion of "White genocide" in South Africa in unrelated conversations, which xAI later blamed on an unauthorised modification made to the software, France 24 reported. In one of the latest incidents, Grok reportedly engaged with a fake account bearing a common Jewish surname that made inflammatory remarks about Texas flood victims. Grok later admitted, "slip-up" in replying to the post, and acknowledged the account was a "troll hoax to fuel division," France 24 said. Last month, Elon Musk acknowledged the problems facing Grok and vowed upgrades to address them, stating there was "far too much garbage in any foundation model trained on uncorrected data.
