These are supposedly 'professional' footballers - I think they need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror. I've seen more skill and passion from non-league sides.Oliver: A game of two halves - the nostalgic Southampton of then and the daunting Southampton of now. Simon Rusk has elevated us from 'that bad' to 'not that bad', and we looked like dominant for the first 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the second half underscored our disappointing season and the sad reality that lesser sides like Fulham, among others, have overtaken us. It left me with doubt that we could ever return to our glory days.Bill: I'm not sure how many time Jan Bednarek has cost us points this season. I realise that at times he has saved us, but sadly neither he nor Jack Stephens are Premier League standard and they never have been. Our defence was tired and disorganised but I wasn't aware of any forwards having a pop at goal. If you don't shoot you won't score! I'm not sure why folk thought Ross Stewart was the prodigal son returning. I've not seen anything to persuade me of his value to the club. Many individual errors throughout the whole game and we were very lucky that Southampton had no threat. Credit where it's due for Southampton's gameplan, but also the Fulham substitutes were impactful. I also felt Southampton's substitute of Stewart for Cameron Archer really helped Fulham. A win is a win!Richard: Three points, but what a struggle to get there. They are not likely to make Europe - they are just too inconsistent and conceding late goals has been their undoing.Will: We never make it easy for ourselves. We need Crystal Palace to lose the FA Cup final for eighth place to be good enough. We need to do all that we can to keep our position.Michael: I really can't understand why Marco Silva keeps playing Andreas Pereira because he makes very little contribution to the overall game. Time and time again he fails to make a decent cross from a corner and worse still his free kicks are consistently poor. His unnecessary tackle in the 17th minute gifted Southampton their first attempt. Time to go, I think.

David Moyes targets Kyle Walker for new Everton era
Kyle Walker has emerged as a serious target for Everton as they look to build David Moyes's squad heading into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Moyes is in the market for a right-back following Ashley Young's departure from the club at the end of the month, with Walker among the candidates they are willing to explore. Walker, 35, was not taken to the Club World Cup with Manchester City and will be allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium having spent eight years at the club, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League. He was loaned out to AC Milan for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign and returned this month, although is not expected to be returning to Italy for a second spell at the San Siro. While he is assessing his next options, Everton could be an attractive destination in terms of location and their ambitious plans as they start next season in a brand new ground after leaving Goodison Park. Moyes played Jake O'Brien at right-back but is looking at options to provide competition in that area, with the Republic of Ireland international also able to play as a centre-back. The club released Young along with Abdoulaye Doucouré, Joao Virginia, Asmir Begovic, Mason Holgate and Neal Maupay at the end of their deals this summer. Walker was at fault for one of Senegal's goals in England's 3-1 defeat at the City Ground, although Thomas Tuchel, the head coach, defended him by insisting he was out of rhythm after a recent shoulder injury. 'I think at the moment you see a lack of rhythm. Because he did not play the last matches, not many minutes for AC Milan,' Tuchel said. 'And after his broken elbow he lost his rhythm, that's what you feel in camp. I saw him very composed. 'I saw him very open. I saw him absolutely happy to be in camp and proud to be in camp. He trained very well. Every single player who played today deserved it, over two camps or in this camp, to play, to start, to come in. That counts also for Kyle. I feel a lack of rhythm in his game.'

Milos Kerkez contract details and likely shirt number as Liverpool finalise deal
Milos Kerkez is set to join Liverpool in the coming days after the Reds reached a breakthrough in their talks with Bournemouth, with the Hungary international in line for a bumper contract Milos Kerkez is edging towards a £45million move to Liverpool as the Reds' busy summer window continues. They have already signed Jeremie Frimpong and are closing in on his former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Florian Writz. Frimpong arrives to help replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has joined Real Madrid. But boss Arne Slot has also been keen to add a left-back to his squad this summer to provide better competition for Andy Robertson. Though he has played a key role in two Premier League title wins and the 2019 Champions League win, Robertson's performances have suffered a downturn. His back-up is currently Kostas Tsimikas. But the Greek international has never really convinced that he can be a long-term option. Instead, the Reds are now set to close a deal for Kerkez, who has impressed at Bournemouth. Whether Kerkez comes in as competition for Robertson or to directly replace him remains to be seen, with the Scotland captain the subject of increasing interest from Atletico Madrid. It appears Liverpool certainly see Kerkez as being a long-term player, with iNews reporting he will be handed a five-year contract. The 21-year-old can also expect a major pay bump by joining the champions. Kerkez has made it clear that Liverpool is his preferred destination. Talks have been ongoing for three weeks, with Reds sporting director Richard Hughes taking the lead in the negotiations. Bournemouth have stood firm on their valuation and there is said to be 'growing optimism' a deal will be agreed in the coming days. Liverpool are set to pay £45m to get hold of Kerkez, with the Cherries having already signed a replacement in Adrien Truffert. One matter that does remain to be settled is the shirt number Kerkez will take on at Anfield. The Hungary international currently wears No.3 at Bournemouth, though that is occupied by Wataru Endo at Liverpool. Endo has struggled for game time since Klopp arrived though and could well depart this summer. If he leaves or even moves over to the unoccupied No.6 shirt, then Kerkez could take hold of the No.3 jersey. For his part, Robertson has insisted he is ready to face the challenge Kerkez will bring. He told BBC Scotland earlier this month: "We're not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done. But, until that is done, I've not even given that a second thought. "I back myself, I've got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward. I've had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies, being a mainstay in the team, which I'm incredibly proud of. I'm not getting any younger, I can't change my age. "But I still believe I've got a lot to give and that's what I focus on. I focus on myself - you can't focus on other people or who you're competing with. I still believe I have a hell of a lot to give for however many years I can keep going. My body feels good at the minute."

Kyle Walker has agreed to join Everton after being put up for sale by Manchester City. The 35-year-old has been one of the best right-backs in the world over the past decade, lifting six Premier League trophies at the Etihad Stadium. Walker was also a key member of the team that secured Man City's first Champions League trophy in 2023. The England star made at least 30 appearances for seven seasons in a row before being frozen out by Pep Guardiola last term. Man City loaned Walker out to AC Milan following a disappointing first-half of the season and are now ready to sell the veteran. Fulham also expressed interest in signing Walker but it is claimed Everton have won the race and are now in talks with Man City to discuss whether it will be a permanent move or a 12-month loan. Walker made over 300 appearances for Manchester City following his £50m move from Tottenham in 2017. He has been England's first-choice right-back for around a decade, amassing 96 caps for the Three Lions. More Trending New England boss Thomas Tuchel has continued to show faith in Walker since his appointment but the ex-Spurs star struggled during the recent friendly defeat to Senegal. Walker is desperate to hit 100 England caps and wants to be involved in next summer's World Cup in the United States. And he is said to believe a move to Everton and a full season of regular football under David Moyes will give him a superb chance of featuring for the Three Lions.
