ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has attended the Khalifa University 2025 graduation ceremony, held at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.In all, 163 students received their PhD degrees, while 193 received their master's, and a total of 725 students received their bachelor's degrees, making the overall numbers 1,112, including 31 PhDs in medicine graduates.His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated the graduates and their families on passing this educational stage, wishing them continued success in their professional and scientific careers, and in the service of their homelands and societies in various fields.His Highness reaffirmed that the graduation of a new cohort of students from Khalifa University, specialised in engineering, science, and medicine, reflects the UAE's commitment to preparing a generation of scientifically and academically qualified talent capable of meeting the needs of crucial sectors in advanced engineering, technology, medicine, and health sciences.His Highness commended the role of Khalifa University as a leading academic and research institution, in developing distinguished specialists and researchers capable of creating advanced solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence, medical sciences, and future technologies.In his address, His Excellency Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his visionary leadership and support of Khalifa University and the UAE's academic and research institutions.His Excellency also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for attending the ceremony and for His Highness' continued support of national talent and competencies across various scientific and research fields.Reflecting on the UAE Year of Community and its impact, His Excellency Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri highlighted the academic achievement of Khalifa University students and reaffirmed the institution's role in preparing future-ready talent to lead and excel in various industries, including the private sector.His Excellency emphasised that the students represent the innovation and excellence that support the UAE's long-term vision, thanking the faculty members for their instrumental role in shaping skills and competencies of the graduates of this cohort.During 2025, Khalifa University has achieved several milestones. The institution was ranked first in the UAE and 37th in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025 and ranked top in the UAE in 10 subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The Petroleum Engineering programme has risen to the 7th place maintaining its position in the global top 10 for three consecutive years.Khalifa University marked a milestone in its sustainable journey with the launch of Sustainability Strategy – A Pathway to Net Zero 2050, the university's first greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions report. Further enhancing Abu Dhabi's reputation as a global hub for robotics and AI innovation, the University launched a bachelor's programme in Robotics and AI.In academics, Khalifa University also developed a dual PhD programme in collaboration with KU Leuven, a first-of-its-kind dual master's programme with the Arizona State University, partnerships with Zayed Military University and the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, and an undergraduate research programme with Mubadala Healthcare, as well as continuing its partnership with the National Service and Reserve Authority (NSRA).
Also in attendance at the graduation ceremony were senior officials, members of the Khalifa University Board of Trustees, faculty and staff, the graduates, and members of their families.

TRENDS will participate in the 'Greater Eurasian Partnership: Development Strategy' Forum, organised by the International Organisation for Eurasian Cooperation (IOEC), over two days, August 20-21, in Moscow. The centre will also sign several strategic cooperation memoranda on the sidelines of the forum. Developing the Eurasian PartnershipThe Forum embodies the idea of international integration, establishes a broad Eurasian space based on equal partnership, promotes a multi-centred world order, and supports fair economic cooperation, in addition to aligning strategic interests and integrating infrastructure and trade systems. During the Forum's opening session, TRENDS will present a paper on 'The Role of Think Tanks and Their Contribution to the Development of the Greater Eurasian Partnership', and will also deliver distinguished scientific and knowledge-based contributions in two main sessions on ways to enhance business dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); and the role of digital technologies and industrial development in supporting prospects for cooperation. Intellectual Dialogue Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, stated that the research tour in Russia aims to enhance global intellectual dialogue and exchange perspectives on current issues, in addition to broadening the scope of research, scientific, and academic partnerships. He noted that the initiative also seeks to support purposeful knowledge and promote a culture of balanced scientific research, while enabling young researchers to participate in international forums and conferences, thereby equipping them with practical experience to lead the future of scientific research. Dr. Al-Ali emphasised that TRENDS' participation in the 'Greater Eurasian Partnership: Development Strategy' Forum underscores the vital role of think tanks as strategic bridges between governments, the business sector, and academic communities. He described them as global platforms that support knowledge and strengthen evidence-based policymaking, in addition to possessing forecasting and scenario-building tools essential for advancing Eurasian integration. He further explained that participation also seeks to strengthen relations with organizations such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), to foster a global intellectual dialogue built on mutual understanding and the exchange of scientific and knowledge-based expertise. Research and Scientific Cooperation At the level of strategic research partnerships, TRENDS, through its physical office in Russia, will sign two research and scientific cooperation memoranda with the International Organisation for Eurasian Cooperation (IOEC) and the Russian Valdai Discussion Club. The centre will also explore mechanisms to enhance cooperation and partnerships with several Russian research and academic institutions. In a related context, TRENDS will also participate in the session 'Women in Diplomacy: Pathways of Inspiration and Global Influence', organised by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Russia on August 26, 2025. This session will present the experiences of women diplomats from various countries, sharing inspiring success stories on how they fulfilled their aspirations and rose to senior diplomatic positions. Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation students excel in Cambridge University Pre-University Program

Dubai, UAE: Students from the Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, part of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, have concluded their participation in the Pre-University Program at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, achieving outstanding results and receiving certificates of excellence across multiple fields of academic research. The program, held from 27 July to 9 August 2025, brought together more than 250 students from 15 countries, reflecting the ability of Emirati students to excel in prestigious international academic environments. Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, said: "We are proud of the exceptional performance of our students, which reaffirms their ability to innovate and excel in the most distinguished global academic settings. These achievements are the result of a clear vision and an integrated strategy for nurturing talent and refining research and scientific skills. Their outstanding participation at a renowned institution like Cambridge reflects the high quality of academic preparation we provide, their ability to engage in advanced scientific discussions, and their capacity to present research characterized by depth and innovation. Student Humaid Al Hooli was named Best Overall Student across all program cohorts for his work in the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering course. His extensive research focused on the Chernobyl disaster, covering its historical background, technical causes, and environmental and human impacts, while highlighting its role in reshaping global nuclear safety regulations and contributing to the development of safer operational systems for nuclear power plants. Student Khalid Al Emadi secured first place in the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering course with research on advanced applications of artificial intelligence in the aviation sector, focusing on real-time aircraft data analysis for early fault detection, enhancing predictive maintenance procedures, and improving air traffic monitoring systems to raise safety standards and reduce accidents. Student Hanadi Darwish earned first place in Physics with a comprehensive research project on antimatter, exploring the theoretical foundations of its formation, possibilities for industrial-scale production in high-energy laboratories, associated technical challenges in storage and utilization, and potential future applications in energy and medicine. Student Sayed Mansour Al Hashemi participated in the Cybersecurity and Computer Science course, presenting an analytical study on password security. His research provided an in-depth review of common hacking techniques and vulnerabilities in traditional authentication systems, proposing innovative solutions such as multi-factor authentication and advanced encryption methods to strengthen data protection against increasing digital threats. This achievement aligns with the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation's vision to support talented students and prepare them to compete globally, reaffirming the UAE's position as a leading hub for fostering creativity and innovation. The Centre continues to enhance its academic and training programs to expand opportunities for participation in international scientific events, empowering students to lead pioneering projects that contribute to building a knowledge-based future.
