Delhi CM Rekha Gupta completes Govardhan Parikrama in UP's Mathura
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 29 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta completed Govardhan Parikrama in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on Saturday.
Prior to Parikrama, the Delhi Chief Minister, speaking to ANI on Friday, said, 'Today we have come for Govardhan Parikrama with our team. We will also have darshan of Banke Bihari... Everyone is very excited. I have been coming here for years... I have come here for the first time after becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi...'
Govardhan mountain is situated at a distance of 25 km from Mathura on the Mathura-Deeg road. According to the legend, Lord Krishna kept this mountain (Giriraj Parvat) on his little finger (finger) for seven days and nights to save the Brajwasis from the fierce rains and storms caused by the anger of Indra, the king of the gods, as stated on the UP government's official website.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in a mock Parliament programme organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha, where the Emergency was discussed. Gupta described it as a 'meaningful experience' and emphasised the importance of understanding this dark chapter in India's history.
She said the country was turned into a jail on June 25, 1975, with lakhs of people imprisoned and democracy crushed.
Gupta added that the women of Delhi learnt about this dark chapter and stressed the need for the nation to stay united to prevent such a crisis in the future.
Speaking to the reporters, Rekha Gupta said, 'It felt great to participate in the mock parliament programme organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha, where the Emergency was discussed. Whatever happened in the country on 25 June 1975, the country was turned into a prison. Lakhs of people were sent to jail. By murdering democracy, a dark chapter was added to the country's history. Today, the women of Delhi gained knowledge about that chapter. To ensure such a crisis never befalls the country again, the entire nation will unite to fight this battle.'
Earlier, on Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the 34th Mango Festival at the Tyagraj Stadium in Delhi. The festival saw active participation from farmers, agricultural experts, and mango producers, providing a platform for sharing challenges, innovations, and opportunities.
According to an official release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), CM Rekha Gupta interacted with farmers, agricultural experts, and mango producers at the event venue, gathering information about their challenges, opportunities, and innovations. (ANI)

Bangladesh Police arrest 5 accused for raping Hindu woman, circulating victim's video
Dhaka [Bangladesh], June 29 (ANI): Bangladesh Police have arrested five people accused of raping a Hindu woman in a remote village of Comilla district and circulating her video on social media. A video that has gone viral on social media shows a naked woman pleading for the protection of her dignity. 'On June 26, Fajr Ali Fajr (36), father - Shahid Mia, of Ramchadrapur Panchkitta village under Muradnagar police station of Comilla district, was detained and beaten by the people of the area on charges of raping the wife of an expatriate from the same village,' Police said in a statement. 'Later, the injured Fajr Ali fled from there. Some people present at the scene immediately recorded a video of the victim and spread it on social media,' it added. 'A case has been registered at Muradnagar Police Station in this regard. The police have arrested the accused Fajr Ali and four others who captured the video,' the statement said. Legal action is being taken against the five individuals who were arrested, police said. Earlier on May 31, a human chain and protest march was organised by various organisations in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka to protest the violence and torture being perpetrated against religious minorities and ethnic communities across Bangladesh, Sammilita Sanatan Parishad, a minority alliance, said in a statement. Addressing a weekly media briefing in New Delhi on June 27, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the interim government has to protect Hindus and other minorities. Jaiswal, while speaking in the context of damage to Durga Temple, said, 'Let me underline that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus, their properties, and religious institutions.' Earlier on May 16, thousands of Bangladeshi women's rights activists gathered at Manik Mia Avenue near the Parliament building in Dhaka to demand equal rights and dignity for women. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also present during the occassion. Prime Minister Modi asserted that every citizen should remember the ones who fought 'bravely' against the Emergency and it also inspires us to stay 'vigilant' to 'safeguard' the constitution. 'Morarji Desai describes the Emergency in brief... Not only did those who imposed the Emergency murder democracy, but their intention was to keep the judiciary as their puppet... Under 'MISA', anyone was arrested arbitrarily, people were tortured... Indians refused to compromise on democracy. Finally, people won and the Emergency was lifted. Babu Jagjivan Ram powerfully about this...' PM Modi said. In the audio clip of Morarji Desai, the former Prime Minister is heard recounting the horrors of the Emergency. PM Modi praises contributions of Doctors and CAs in 123rd Mann ki Baat
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the invaluable contributions of both Doctors and Chartered Accountants (CAs) while addressing the country during the 123rd edition of the monthly program Mann ki Baat and called attention to how both professions are such 'pillars of society,' with one being protectors of health and other being guides of economic life. Acknowledging their importance ahead of July 1, which marks both National Doctors' Day and Chartered Accountants' Day, the Prime Minister said, 'On the 1st of July, the day after tomorrow, we honour two very important professions - Doctors and CAs. Both of them are such pillars of society, which make our lives better. Doctors are the protectors of our health and CAs (Chartered Accountants) are the guides of economic life. My best wishes to all the Doctors and Chartered Accountants.' Notably, the Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of protecting and preserving the environment, as the country celebrated World Environment Day earlier, just as one would their health. 'This month, we all celebrated the 'World Environment Day'. I received thousands of your messages. Many people told me about those friends who had set out alone to save the environment and then the whole society joined them. This contribution of everyone is becoming a great strength for our earth,' the PM said. Highlighting various examples of people from across the country, he added, 'Ramesh Kharmale of Pune... knowing about his work will inspire you a lot. When people take rest at the end of the week, Ramesh ji and his family set out with a pickaxe and a spade. Do you know where to? Towards the hills of Junnar. Be it sunshine or a steep climb, their ascent does not stop. They clear bushes, dig trenches to retain water and sow seeds. They dug 70 trenches in just two months.' Talking about another initiative, the PM talked about Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, where the Municipal Corporation has started the 'Mission for Million Trees' campaign. The target is to plant lakhs of trees. A special aspect about this campaign is 'Sindoor Van'. He also dedicated the campaign to the soldiers who participated in Operation Sindoor. 'This forest is dedicated to the bravehearts of Operation Sindoor. Sindoor saplings are being planted in the memory of those brave people who have sacrificed everything for the country. Here, another campaign is being given a new impetus - 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. Under this campaign, crores of trees have been planted in the country. You too must take part in such campaigns going on in your village or city,' he said.
