Lululemon's latest viral product reveals something much bigger
Remember the dress? No, not the one from Lululemon - I mean the dress. That viral 2015 photo that turned the internet upside down because no one could agree if it was white and gold or black and blue. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter It hijacked group chats and Instagram feeds, and sparked debates that lasted way longer than anyone expected. that. Not even close. But if you scroll through TikTok right now, you might catch a glimpse of Lululemon's latest viral moment. Their newest $148 item, a two-in-one piece that can be worn as a maxi dress or a skirt, has taken over social media. Related: Nike, Adidas face rising threat on the golf course Some people love it and swear it's a genius design that's worth every penny. Others don't get the hype, calling it unflattering, overpriced, and suspiciously similar to styles they've seen at Target since 2008. And while the back-and-forth over whether it's flattering or functional is mildly entertaining, that's not the most interesting part. But the more telling story? This product is just the latest proof of how Lululemon's viral playbook keeps delivering real results. This isn't Lululemon's first viral rodeo. Remember the Everywhere Belt Bag? TikTok turned it into a must-have, and the brand leaned in hard with influencer partnerships, restocks, and the kind of scarcity that makes people panic-add to cart. Now, Lululemon's using the same strategy on this two-in-one piece. Influencers seeded the hype. Try-ons and "is it worth it?" breakdowns flooded Reels and TikTok. The product sold out in every size except XL. Clearly, Lululemon ( (LULU) ) knows exactly what it's doing Related: Nike's house is not in order, and customers may pay the price The apparent appeal? The convertible design. Fold the top down and it turns from a fitted dress into a flowy skirt. No bra required, according to dozens of creators. The top is made with the brand's signature Nulu fabric, while the skirt blends silk and technical stretch. Is it clever? Sure. But revolutionary? Not really. And that's what makes it interesting: Lululemon doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. The company just needs to spark a conversation loud enough to drown out the skepticism. Lululemon has figured out the formula: create something versatile, get it into the right hands, and let social media do the rest. It works. Viral products drive site traffic, loyalty, and allow for premium price points most brands can't touch. But that formula has its limits. Not every viral moment builds long-term trust. When a product feels overhyped or underwhelming, even loyal fans start asking questions. The two-in-one piece might be a bestseller, but it also left some shoppers wondering why they were being sold a TikTok trend at luxury prices. There are already cheaper versions circulating online, and the Lululemon version isn't dramatically different from what's been around for years. If every new drop starts to feel recycled, the hype machine might start to lose steam. Still, you can't argue with results. Whether they love it or roll their eyes, people are talking. And in Lululemon's world, attention almost always converts into sales. With Lululemon reporting earnings this week, we will see if the buzz turns into results. The product might not be groundbreaking. But the strategy? That's the real story. Jessie J reveals ‘early' breast cancer diagnosis
(NEXSTAR/KTLA) – English pop singer Jessie J, known for songs including 'Price Tag' and 'Bang Bang,' has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she revealed in a video post to her 13.9 million Instagram followers on Tuesday night. The singer, 37, added that she's scheduled to undergo surgery after an appearance at a London music festival on June 15, at which time she plans to 'disappear for a bit.' Jessie J attends the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards at The Royal Festival Hall on May 11, 2025. in London, England. (Alan Chapman/) The musician, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, told her followers on Tuesday that she had been diagnosed with 'early' breast cancer sometime before the release of her recent single 'No Secrets.' In another post to her Instagram Stories, she confirmed she's known about the diagnosis for about nine weeks. 'Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said. 'I'm highlighting the word 'early.' Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early.' 'I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period,' she added. Jessie J, who was diagnosed with Ménière's disease in 2020, said she 'selfishly' decided to share her diagnosis with fans in part because she needed 'their love and support.' 'It breaks my heart that other people are going through so much similar, and worse. That's the bit that kills me,' she said. The 'Domino' singer did not go into detail about treatment or therapies but confirmed she would undergo surgery sometime after her appearance at the Capital Summertime Ball at London's Wembley Stadium on June 15. She indicated that at least part of her breast may be removed, remarking that she would get to 'keep my nipples.' 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job,' she joked. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that about 270,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the U.S., making it the second most common form of cancer among women after skin cancer. Roughly 42,000 people die from it every year. Treatment can include radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, surgery, or a combination of several treatments. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the five-year survival rate for patients with early-stage breast cancer — like the one Jessie J describes — are 99%. The survival rate drops for patients with later-stage cancers. The pop star, in a text post to Instagram Stories, said the diagnosis has given her 'incredible perspective.' 'But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it, and I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times,' Jessie J wrote. 'And I don't want this to be any different.' Many of her fellow artists and friends offered words of support in the wake of her video, including Katy Perry, Chelsea Handler and Rita Ora, the latter of whom called Jessie J 'my favorite person.' 'You've got this. My mother had it, and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough, so I'm here for you,' Ora wrote.

Jessie J says she ‘needs a hug' after revealing early breast cancer diagnosis
Jessie J is doing away with the secrets — once and for all. The 37-year-old British singer took to Instagram on June 3 to reveal that she was diagnosed with early breast cancer prior to dropping her new song, 'No Secrets,' which was released on April 25. Her newest single, 'Living My Best Life,' was released three weeks later on May 16. In her announcement, Jessie J made sure to emphasize the term 'early.' 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early,'' she said in the clip, adding that she's been 'in and out of tests' for the past few weeks and will be undergoing surgery soon. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer treatments are 'more effective and are better tolerated when started early.' In an attempt to keep the announcement light, Jessie J joked that she is 'getting to keep (her) nipples' and described her upcoming surgery as a 'very dramatic way to get a boob job.' 'I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery,' she said of the music festival she's performing at on June 15. 'And I will come back with massive (breasts) and more music.' While she credits her sense of humor for helping her through hard times, she also opened up about the new perspective her diagnosis has given her. 'All jokes aside,' she wrote in the caption. 'This last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on along side it on the sideline's has given me the most incredible perspective.' 'BUT… Your girl needs a hug,' she added. While revealing her diagnosis, Jessie J admitted that she was hesitant about going public with the news. Ultimately, she decided to share it with her fans so they can hear it from her. 'I've always shared everything that I go through in my life,' she explained. 'I just wanted to be open and share it,' she continued. 'One, because selfishly I do not talk about it enough – I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.' Jessie J goes on to describe herself as a 'sharer' and 'open book.' 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories,' she says in the video. She also highlighted the irony behind the timing of her two newest releases. 'To get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets,' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,'' Jessie J said in the video. 'I mean, you can't make it up.' She further clarified that the release of her two singles was 'pre-planned' before learning of the diagnosis. 'No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called 'Living my breast life'?' she joked in the caption of the post. The breast cancer diagnosis comes less than one year after the singer revealed that she was diagnosed with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). It also comes several years after she suffered a miscarriage in 2021, per People. Jessie J is now the proud parent of her 2-year-old son, Sky, who she welcomed with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman in 2023, per Today.
