Chad Michael Murray's harrowing near death experience as he suffers medical emergency

Freakier Friday star Chad Michael Murray has recalled the moment he feared he would die as he was 'in and out of consciousness' after his internal organs became twisted
Chad Michael Murray has recounted overhearing plans to have his last rites read to him during a near death experience. The 43-year-old heartthrob has credited a blood transfusion for helping save his life when he was a teenager.

Chad, known for his roles in hit shows including One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, and Dawson's Creek and big screen hits including the Freaky Friday film series. However, the actor came close to never having his successful future when he was just 15 as he endured a life-threatening health crisis.

In a new podcast interview, Chad has cast his mind back to an incident where he was rushed to hospital after his intestines became twisted. He did not reveal exactly what medical condition he battled - but shared agonising details of his treatment. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen

And while doctors battled to save his life, he has recalled overhearing his parents planning his funeral. The star explained: "I was hospitalized for two and a half months. It was a lot,' he began - adding he was 'in and out of consciousness' during his treatment.
He continued: 'We had surgery. I had internal bleeding, I lost 50% of my blood. I was on my deathbed,' the actor shared, revealing that his family even called in a priest to give him his last rites at one point."

Sharing more details with the Great Company podcast, he went on: "I just remember seeing my father, the weakest I'd ever seen him, and a priest at the end of my bed. They're talking about last rites and all that stuff, and [the nurse, Sandy] gave me a blood transfusion to save my life."
The star then underwent further surgery to help repair his internal organs. He said: "Regardless, you're in there for two months and, you know, my organs shut down because you have blood all coagulated around them, and they had to wait till everything [healed more].
"So, anyway, I had to have a second surgery to clean everything up."

Chad recounted that his route to stardom began following this incident as a nurse, named Alana, encouraged him to take up modelling. He recalled: "Alana says to me, 'Oh gosh, you should model.'
'I was like, 'I don't want to model. I want to be an actor. Like, I love film and television. I want to give this gift to other people.' And she's like, 'Well, you can segue from modelling into acting. Look, when you get out, I'm hooking you up with this modelling company I know.' And she meant it.'

After finally leaving hospital, Chad recalls being horrified by his appearance as he had lost so much weight after falling ill.
He recalled: 'I got out. I went from, like, 180 to 118 pounds. I was a skeleton when I got out. I remember looking in the mirror the first time going, 'Who is that?' Like, I cried. I couldn't believe that I was looking back at that guy.'
His brush with death also led him to embrace his faith in a whole new way - and he also grew closer to his father, who was raising him and his siblings as a single parent.
Chad told podcast host Jamie Laing: 'I started my relationship with God, and my relationship with my father became really close. My dad [was] raising five kids on his own [and] came to the hospital every single day, and he spent countless nights with me when he had four more kids at home.'
'The man is tough as nails, and he did that for us. I'm beyond grateful. That's when our relationship really bonded,' Murray added.

He recently interviewed Jamie Lee Curtis, but their chat had an awkward moment. Sam previously chatted to the Oscar winner, back on his very first day. The Freakier Friday star, 66, indirectly asked whether Sam had proposed to Zara - unaware of their split. In their original conversation - after the topic of pre-drinks came up - Jamie, 66, mentioned how she was sober. Sam recalled how he'd "panicked", given it was his first interview and had claimed that he too was sober. Back at the time, he concocted a story about how his girlfriend didn't drink and he wanted to be more like her. The former Made in Chelsea star recounted an impressed Jamie had told him: "Put a ring on it." Following up on this in present-day, Jamie asked him: "And?" To which Sam then clarified: "Oh no, we've broken up." Pete Wicks admits he 'disliked' Sam Thompson's ex girlfriend and insists 'I prefer him single' after Zara McDermott split As of late, Sam's love life saw him recently split with Love Island beauty Samie Elishi in June. Just weeks later, it was revealed he was dating nutritionist Steph Robinson. It was also suggested he had grown close to Too Hot To Handle beauty Lucy Syed, 28. Elsewhere, The Sun exclusively reported how Zara had moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. The couple recently "hard-launched" their romance with a loved-up selfie. The post quickly accumulated over 128,000 likes and over 6,000 comments. And as fans flocked to the comments section, one wrote: "Now get Louis to put his selfie with you in his page so you can match." "My favs, love this for you all," said another fan.

Lindsay Lohan visits a zoo Down Under during a break from Freakier Friday promo

Lindsay Lohan was spotted at Taronga Zoo with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their two-year-old son Luai, last Wednesday. She he has been seen promoting her new movie Freakier Friday in Australia last week. The 39-year-old accessorized with black sneakers, a pearl phone charm and a brown leather Hermes bag. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO Group: Lindsay Lohan visited Taronga Zoo in Sydney with her husband Bader Shammas and their son Luai The family of three were joined by a nanny, who could be seen pushing Luai's stroller through the zoo. Lindsay could be seen carrying a baby bottle as she checked out our local fauna with her brood in tow. The outing came after Lindsay and her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis attended the Australian premiere of Freakier Friday at Westfield Bondi Junction the day before. Disney's Freakier Friday has achieved a major box office milestone, earning back its production budget in just three days, despite opening at No. 2 in the United States. The sequel, which reunites Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan more than 20 years after Freaky Friday (2003), debuted to an estimated $45million in the U.S. over the August 8 weekend. The film was narrowly edged out of the top spot by Zach Cregger's horror thriller Weapons, which took in $64million in North America. Strong international turnout boosted Freakier Friday's global total to $69million, including $24million from overseas markets, according to Deadline. Good times: Lindsay looked in great spirits at the zoo Hair: She went for a low ponytail tied up with a scrunchie That matches the film's reported $69million production budget, making it the 41st release of 2025 to cross that mark worldwide. While recouping costs so quickly is a positive sign, industry analysts note that films typically need to gross around 2.5 times their production budgets to turn a profit, putting the sequel's estimated break-even point at roughly $161 million. In 2003, Jamie Lee and Lindsay starred in the smash hit comedy, Freaky Friday, which saw the two characters switch bodies. Fans had long hoped for a sequel to the iconic comedy but had to wait two decades after the original first hit theatres. Stars: The outing came after Lindsay and her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis attended the Australian premiere of Freakier Friday at Westfield Bondi Junction the day before Lindsay was just 15 years old when she first portrayed Anna Coleman in Freaky Friday alongside Jamie Lee, who played her on-screen mother Tess Coleman. It follows the bickering mother and daughter after a Chinese restaurant fortune cookie mishap causes them to switch bodies, forcing them to live the other's life. Despite barely having been able to see eye-to-eye, the magical switch eventually allows them to see things from the other's point of view. The sequel sees the iconic pairing switch places once again, though this time there is quadruple chaos in store. Anna (Lindsay) is preparing to tie the knot with Eric Davies (Manny Jacinto), but things are proving difficult as her teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters) despises Eric's teenager Lily (Sophia Hammons). Harper highlights her disgust as she's heard reciting mock wedding vows, in which she brands her soon-to-be step-sister 'a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent.' A flash forward to Anna's bachelorette party sees her and mother Tess Coleman sit down with a fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer), who warns them they may learn another lesson by 'walking in each other's paths'. Anna and Tess then find themselves caught up in yet another 'freaky' body swap incident - only this time, it's not just between the two of them. The next morning, Anna discovers she's swapped bodies with daughter Harper, while Tess, aka 'Grandma', is now in the body of Anna's step-daughter Lily. The foursome try to navigate their new roles with just days to go until the wedding.
