Halle Berry stuns in a corseted gown while Izabel Goulart wears a sheer lace dress with Shanina Shaik at Chopard Gala during Cannes Film Festival

Daily Mail19-05-2025
Halle Berry stunned as she joined Izabel Goulart and Shanina Shaik at the Chopard Universe Gala Evening during the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
The actress, 58, wore a burgundy satin gown that featured a boned corseted top and structured skirt.
Joining Izabel, 40, and Shanina, 34, on the red carpet they led the celebrity arrivals for the jewellery brand's event.
Izabel wore a semi-sheer lace dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline and figure hugging design.
The former Victoria's Secret Angel styled her hair into soft waves and accessorised with a diamond choker by Chopard.
Meanwhile, Shanina looked incredible in a plunging black corset and white skirt, with a thigh-high leg slit.
This year's Cannes Film Festival is taking place in the wake of Trump´s vow to enact tariffs on international films.
Cannes, where filmmakers, sales agents and journalists gather from around the world, is the Olympics of the big screen, with its own golden prize, the Palme d´Or, to give out at the end.
Filmmakers come from nearly every corner of the globe to showcase their films while dealmakers work through the night to sell finished films or packaged productions to various territories.
'You release a film into that Colosseum-like situation,' says Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, who´s returning to Cannes with 'The Secret Agent, a thriller set during Brazil ´s dictatorship.
'You've got to really prepare for the whole experience because it´s quite intense - not very far from the feeling of approaching a roller coaster as you go up the steps at the Palais.'
Trump sent shock waves through Hollywood and the international film community when he announced on May 4 that all movies 'produced in Foreign Lands' will face 100 percent tariffs.

The White House has said no final decisions have been made. Options being explored include federal incentives for U.S.-based productions, rather than tariffs. But the announcement was a reminder of how international tensions can destabilize even the oldest cultural institutions.
The Cannes Film Festival originally emerged in the World War II years, when the rise of fascism in Italy led to the founding of an alternative to the then-government controlled Venice Film Festival.
In the time since, Cannes´ resolute commitment to cinema has made it a beacon to filmmakers. Countless directors have come to make their name.
This year is no different, though some of the first-time filmmakers at Cannes are already particularly well-known.
Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) have all unveiled their feature directorial debuts in Cannes´ Un Certain Regard sidebar section.
Many Cannes veterans have returned, including Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro - who received an honorary Palme d´Or 49 years after Taxi Driver premiered in Cannes - and Quentin Tarantino, who paid tribute to low-budget Western director George Sherman.
Meanwhile Scarlett's directorial debut Eleanor The Great, will be unveiled on May 20.
However, in the wake of his legal battle with former co-star Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni is not expected to attend.
Over recent years the star-studded extravaganza has arguably won more attention for the outfits worn by its celebrity guests than the roster of feature films being screened on the Croisette.
But new nudity rules, devised for 'the sake of decency,' have been implemented at this year's festival.
According to organisers, the austere move is an attempt to stifle the celebrity trend for 'naked dresses' - namely provocative outfits that reveal considerably more than they conceal - on the red carpet.
'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival,' states a Cannes festival document.
'The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.'
The surprise new policy features in a recent festival-goers charter - released with a series of outlines regarding expected public behaviour.
Guests are expected to converge on the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière for some of the highest profile film screenings across a packed two-week schedule in Cannes.
It's understood that the iconic venue now adopts a more conservative dress code, with suits, dinner jackets and floor-length evening gowns generally favoured over headline grabbing ensembles.
Classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, pant-suits, dressy tops and elegant sandals, 'with or without a heel', will also be permitted.
While the decision to implement a more stringent policy will be a first, it is not known if French TV broadcasters, wary of airing nudity, played a role in its enforcement.
Major red carpet events, including the Cannes Film Festival, are aired in France by France Télévisions
Recently attracting more models and influencers than actors and filmmakers, the annual ceremony has seen an increase in risque red carpet fashion statements.
In 2021, American supermodel Bella Hadid bared her cleavage in a plunging black gown while attending a screening of Tre Piani (Three Floors).
She pulled a similar stunt three years later, with guests at the 2024 gala left speechless after she attended the premiere of Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice completely braless beneath a sheer brown evening dress.

Victoria and David Beckham share pictures of luxury family holiday – while son Brooklyn plugs his new venture amid feud

VICTORIA and David Beckham are enjoying a sunny holiday on a luxury yacht with three of their children, as their oldest son remains estranged. The former Spice Girl and England captain are cruising the French seas on a luxury yacht with sons, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and daughter, Harper, 14. 6 6 6 Victoria, 51, shared a series of photos aboard their £16million superyacht and other snaps from their French Riviera getaway, including plenty of romantic snaps cuddling up with her famous hubby. "Kisses @DavidBeckham," Victoria captioned the post and added a series of emojis including, a sun and love heart. Other photos in the series included Cruz showing off his football skills in front of his dad who used to play for Manchester United and Real Madrid. Cruz also showed off his toned figure and posed aboard the yacht wearing nothing but a pair of white Armani swimming trunks. David also posted plenty of pics from their summer trip, and praised one of the family's favourite restaurants, Chez Bruno. "Perfection at Chez Bruno , family run Truffle restaurant WOW," David captioned his own Instagram post which included pics of him getting a private kitchen tour and posing lovingly with his wife. The family holiday comes amid their rift with eldest son Brooklyn, 26, who was on his own Instagram account spruiking his latest venture. The photographer and chef showed off the newly arrived kit which is collaboration between his Cloud 23 hot sauce brand and Jefferson's Bourbon. Brooklyn showed the camera the Jefferson's Rye Manhattan to Brooklyn kit which includes ingredients to create a unique cocktail, including a bottle of bourbon and vermouth, a black cherry syrup pouch, a bottle of Cloud 23 hot sauce, coupe glasses and a bottle of aromatic bitters. "Dubbed the Brooklyn23, the cocktail combines the robust but smooth whiskey with a kick of fiery undertones from the hot sauce," according to the Jefferson's website. David Beckham sings with son Cruz as they reveal glimpse of lavish holiday With a feud dividing the family, Brooklyn has distanced himself from the Beckham clan in favour of his wife Nicola Peltz, and her family. He even missed out on multiple celebrations to mark David's 50th birthday – snubbing a lavish bash, a father-son fishing trip and a calm retreat in Bordeaux. The Beckham Family Feud April 2022: Brooklyn marries Nicola Peltz. Wedding Dress Controversy: Rumours begin circulating that there's tension between Nicola and Victoria Beckham after Nicola chooses not to wear a Victoria Beckham -designed wedding gown. Nicola later clarifies in August 2022 (and again in March 2023) that Victoria's atelier couldn't make the dress in time, but reports in May 2025 suggest Victoria actually changed her mind about making the dress. Post-Wedding (2022 onwards): Minimal interaction between Nicola and Victoria on social media, and noticeable absence of Nicola at key Beckham family events. Alleged Wedding "Hijack": In May 2025, a source claimed Victoria "ruined" part of the wedding by allegedly hijacking a dance with Marc Anthony, which was meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. Nicola reportedly ran from the room crying. March 2025: A resurfaced TikTok of Romeo and Cruz mimicking a "baby voice" (which fans associate with Nicola) sparks speculation of sibling shade. April 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola are reportedly absent from Victoria Beckham's 51st birthday celebrations in Miami and her Paris Fashion Week show. May 2025: David Beckham's 50th Birthday Snub: Brooklyn and Nicola are notably absent from David Beckham's 50th birthday celebrations in London, despite being invited. Reports suggest their absence was due to Brooklyn not wanting to be in the same room as Kim Turnbull, the girlfriend of Romeo who had previously been reported to have been dating Brooklyn, who David allegedly opted to have at the party over Nicola. Rumours emerge of a falling out between Brooklyn and his younger brother Romeo, reportedly due to Romeo's new girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, who allegedly had a past connection with Brooklyn. Reports surface that the Beckham parents are "hurt and disappointed" that Brooklyn is "playing no part in family life." Sources claim that tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and his parents are "definitely not beyond repair." June 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly enlist a "crisis team" similar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for "reputation management" due to the growing media scrutiny. Cruz Beckham posts cryptic lyrics on Instagram that some interpret as a swipe at Brooklyn. July 2025: Reports indicate David and Victoria are "desperate" to reconcile with Brooklyn. Brooklyn publicly wishes his sister Harper a happy 14th birthday on Instagram, tagging Nicola, which is seen as a potential "olive branch" and a rare public message to his family amid the rumored rift. Brooklyn UNFOLLOWS his brothers Romeo and Cruz just 24 hours after his birthday message to Harper. Nicola quickly follows suit and also ditches the Beckham bros from her Instagram following. Romeo and Cruz are now also no longer following Brooklyn. They've even started a 'boat war' by showing off their time on Nicola's family's £85million superyacht in Saint-Tropez that comparitively dwarfs the Beckhams' . Brooklyn and Nicola also renewed their wedding vows after three years of marriage – with the Beckhams not in attendance. At the end of May, Brooklyn shared a video of him and Nicola riding on his motorbike, captioning it: 'My whole world. I will love you forever. I always choose you baby.' They'll also be missing from Victoria's upcoming Netflix documentary. 6

Moment shattered Adam Peaty hugs fiancee Holly and laughing Gordon Ramsay after first triathlon

THREE-TIME Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Adam Peaty stumbled across the finish line at his debut triathlon. The shattered swimmer was seen to embrace his fiancee - Gordon Ramsay's daughter, Holly - after completing the T100 triathlon in front of a home crowd. 2 The 50m breaststroke specialist went into uncharted waters in London as he competed in his debut triathlon. The T100 is the latest triathlon phenomenon, which sees professionals take on a 2km swim, 80km bike ride and 18km run (totalling 100km). There is also an opportunity for amateurs across the Olympic distance (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run). Peaty took part in the Olympic distance, completing the race in 2:34:37. Peaty competed as part of a stacked celebrity line-up which included McFly drummer Harry Judd, former racing driver Billy Monger, who broke the Ironman world record for a double amputee in 2024, and Mercedes F1 reserve driver Frederik Vesti. It was also a family affair, as Peaty undertook the mammoth race alongside his new family, with Gordon Ramsay, his wife Tana and their daughter Tilly all taking part as well. 2 Celebrity chef and Peaty's soon-to-be father-in-law, Gordon, is a triathlon veteran, competing in the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2013, and was seen to laugh as Peaty stumbled over the line. After the event, Peaty said: "Hardest thing I've ever done - 100% would do it again." The T100 Triathlon World Tour London route for 2025 is set in the London Royal Docks area, starting and finishing at the ExCeL Centre. The swim takes place in the Royal Victoria Dock — a picturesque body of water rich in maritime history — and consists of two one-km laps. Exiting the swimming leg at the ExCeL Centre, athletes then take on the bike course, which consists of eight 10km laps. The route heads west from the docks and turns around near the O2 Arena across the river. It then circles back past the ExCeL Centre to a second roundabout, offering a 180-degree turn for the riders. The competitors then take on the run, which consists of five laps of a 3.6km circuit running alongside the Royal Victoria and Royal Albert Docks. The professionals took to the course on Saturday August 9, with shocking results across both the men's and women's race. The British women were out in full force for their home race, but only one could be crowned the victor in front of a home crowd. Kate Waugh has stunned this season, having previously been named as a wildcard for only one event, putting intense precious on the tournament mainstays, but failed to take the win in London. Instead, 2023 World Ironman champion Lucy Charles-Barclay clinched the win, with a dominant performance across all disciplines, taking her first win of the T100 season. In the men's race it was Hayden Wilde who shocked the London crowd.

INXS stars reveal the bloated celebrity guest list and backstage blowout at epic Wembley Stadium gig that cost the band their entire $7 million dollar payday

Members of legendary Australian rock band INXS have revealed how the band lost millions over their legendary gig at London's Wembley Stadium in 1991. Despite selling out the gig, which had a live audience of 74,000, almost all of the money made at the box office for the show was gone before the band even took to the stage. The cash, £1.4 million GBP or $7 million AUD in today's money, was spent on funding a film of the concert. The decision was made by the six-piece band's manager, Gary Murphy, who hired a famous British music video director, David Mallet, to direct it. Still, according to INXS members Jon Farriss and Kirk Pengilly, the event and the ensuing film were worth it. It helped to cement the band's reputation in the notoriously difficult UK market, where they had scored two hit albums in a row, X in 1990 and 1987's Kick. Despised by UK critics and adored by fans drawn to the saucy stage presence of the lead singer, the late Michael Hutchence, Farrisssaid the band had the last laugh. 'That tall poppy thing, I think we were one of the first bands to experience it on that level,' Farriss, 64, told the Courier-Mail on Sunday. 'We taught ourselves to stay quiet about it, we just wouldn't talk about it.' Elsewhere in the chat, the veteran rockers revealed the band had a 'guest list' for the Wembley gig, numbering a staggering 3000 people. Among the A-listers there for the show was former Hutchence girlfriend Kylie Minogue and then pop superstars Duran Duran. 'Yeah, I heard it was over 2,000, closer to 3,000 people,' Pengilly, 65, said. 'Apparently it was insane. I didn't know any of them. But, you know, it was London, (therefore), it was celebrities.' It comes after never-before-heard INXS demos, featuring vocals from late frontman Michael Hutchence, were released earlier this year. The tracks are part of the 40th anniversary reissue of the iconic band's 1985 album Listen Like Thieves, which reached number one in Australia. Among the unreleased songs is a candid studio moment where Hutchence's charismatic voice echoes through early takes of their '80s hit track This Time. INXS saxophonist Pengilly said compiling the tracklist was a moving experience. 'I did get emotional with this, because there were some out-takes of the banter between us all,' he told The Daily Telegraph. 'But we didn't keep a lot of that stuff, so I was really surprised when the tapes turned up. So this is pretty special, a real time capsule.' The band conquered the world with their 1985 album, which reached number 11 on the US Billboard chart and went double platinum there. It also charted in New Zealand, the UK and Canada. It featured their first US top five single, What You Need, as well as the hit songs Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain) and the title track. The rockers continued to perform with singer Michael Hutchence until his tragic death in Sydney in 1997, where he died by suicide in a hotel room. The Australian group were one of the world's most successful rock bands in the late '80s. Following their formation in 1977, they stormed the charts with songs including Need You Tonight, Good Times, New Sensation and Kick. They are one of Australia's highest-selling bands of all time, with over 50 million albums sold worldwide. Their 2011 greatest hits album has spent a record 623 weeks on the ARIA top 100 albums chart. Its success followed the release of the 2014 Channel Seven mini-series about the band called Never Tear Us Apart. The band split after 35 years together in 2012, although its surviving members continue to reunite for special events.
