Tinie Tempah announces return to music 'to save Britain's clubs' after quitting 'to change nappies and raise his kids' - but This Morning viewers are totally divided

Daily Mail18-07-2025
Tinie Tempah has announced his return to music 'to save Britain's clubs' after quitting 'to change nappies and raise his kids' - and This Morning viewers were instantly divided.
The London-born rapper and singer, 36, appeared on the ITV chat show on Friday to mark his industry comeback, nearly ten years after his last album Youth in 2017.
The artist, whose new single Eat It Up came out on Thursday, told presenters Dermot O'Leary, 52, and Sian Welby, 38, what he has been up to - and his current plans.
The Pass Out hitmaker explained his hiatus: 'I basically stepped back a bit just to settle down, have kids, all that stuff, do the school run, change nappies.'
And he used his appearance on the sofa to spread the word about preserving British nightlife and music venues, which have been in decline since the pandemic.
But This Morning viewers took to social media to give a mixed consensus about the artist's return to mainstream celebrity life.

Tinie, whose real name is Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, married artist Eve De Haan in 2019, the daughter of the Saga insurance firm's former owner Sir Roger De Haan.
They share two daughters, born in 2018 and 2021.
The rapper told Dermot and Sian: 'I was watching my kids grow up and I was thinking, "Wow, they're actually not going to be able to experience me in some of these venues that maybe my siblings did or friends that I grew up with did.
'"I need to do this for them".'
During his break from making music, he also bought a recording studio in London to support other rappers and singers.
He explained: 'Seeing all these incredible artists coming in and out of my studio and hearing their bangers, I was doing DIY, painting the walls, sanding the floors, and people are making bangers.
'And I was like, "I'm not a carpenter, I need to get back on to the music!"'
Tinie said his return to the industry was also 'really motivated by the landscape of where we were economically'.

He pointed out how since gigs stopped and event spaces closed during the Covid pandemic, the nation has lost around three venues a month.
A staggering 480 clubs vanished between June 2020 and September 2024, according to figures from the Night Time Industries Association.
Even the capital was hit hard, going from 200 venues in 2020 to just 143 four years later.
An association spokesman has previously said: ''The rapid decline is devastating for our economy.
'Without urgent Government intervention, we risk losing a key part of the UK's cultural identity in dance music.'
It has a bigger effect than on just artists, Tinie emphasised: 'If you think about the bouncer that works there, the barmaid, the person that's working at the cloakroom, there's a little cottage economy in there.
'So, I think the best thing people can do is just keep attending, keep going.'
The musician continued: 'I know there's so many other things going on in the world that we should be concerned about.
'However, as an artist, I'm thinking of the next generation of acts and I'm thinking if they don't have the same venues that I did, now they have virtually no venues, how are we going to get all these exciting genres like drum and bass and garage and grime and house music that were birthed out of these spaces?'
Tinie added it is especially important 'in a time of division': 'As simple as it is, music brings joy, it brings people together and so we need to preserve these spaces.
'And I'm hoping that my little voice can start off hopefully a domino effect of other artists identifying the problem and being a voice as well.'
He concluded: 'Let's keep some of these institutions alive because that's what they are, some of these places are institutions.
'I hear people that are in their fifties and sixties talk about the Hacienda [club in Manchester] and we need venues like that that we'll be talking about for years to come.'
Some This Morning viewers were delighted to see Tinie on the show, with one excitedly writing on X: 'Tinie Tempah on after the break.'
Another added on the social media platform: 'Tinie Tempah seems a top bloke.'
But others were less interested: 'Written in The Stars is the only one I know.';

'Rap icon Tinie Tempah? More one hit wonder.';
'Is it just me or do all of his songs sound the same?'
And some were not keen on him at all, bringing up previous controversies Tinie has been embroiled in.
They included his previous admission he once had sex with a groupie while her mother waited outside the room.
The rapper has previously confessed to Shortlist magazine: 'Basically... this girl came to see a show with her mum. She was really nice.
'She and her mum hung around after the show and the daughter was giving me "the look". I thought, "You're lovely but your mum's here".
'We flirted and there was banter that hinted at it. And then the mum was like, "Oh I don't mind, I'll wait!"
'So, her mum just waited outside the dressing room. That was f***ing weird.'

It comes after another recent segment on This Morning did not just divide viewers - but rather put some of them off entirely.
Fans fumed 'I've had to switch off' after TikTok witches took over the studio earlier this week.
Thursday's instalment of the ITV show saw co-hosts Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50, sit down with three women who identify as witches.
Mother and daughter duo Emma Griffin and Holly Kenyon, along with Katy Whyte, opened up about their lives as professional sorceresses.
All three post about their magical activities on TikTok.
Emma explained: 'I think the word "witch", people are are scared of it because of the movies and I think now people are looking at it as a form of wellness and good for their emotions and inner calmness.
'It's really beautiful to see younger generations, especially Holly's age, stepping into witchcraft and sharing their magic.'
Holly had been brought up surrounded by witchcraft as both her mother and grandmother practised.

Emma revealed 'anyone can be a witch' and Katy opened up about how she has been interested in it since she was young.
Katy said: 'For me, when I was a teenager, I was drawn to it, I would end up in the witchy shops.
'I was completely in the closet, all my books hidden from my parents because I was really embarrassed by it because back then, it wasn't on social media so this is why I think it's so lovely now.'
She revealed she was interested in 'the cycles of nature' and the moon.
Holly explained: 'I've been doing it since, my earliest memory is seven years old.
'I used to make potions from my mum's stuff in the bathroom and carried it on from there.'
As for those who are more cynical about witchcraft, Holly said: 'I look at it as, it's a lifestyle and it's a beautiful way to connect to nature and it's embracing slow living and going back to what our ancestors gave us.'
But the witches were not well received by some viewers who took to social media to share their thoughts.
One posted on X: 'FFS!... I am lost for words... Witches #ThisMorning.'
Another added: 'This is so ridiculous and mind numbing, had to switch off, absolutely pathetic! #ThisMorning.'

Becky Hill flaunts her jaw-dropping figure in a black bikini as she larks about with pals while celebrating her hen do in Lake Como ahead of tying the knot with fiancé Charlie Gardner

Becky Hill looked sensational as she slipped into a tiny black bikini while celebrating her hen do at the swanky Filario Hotel in sun-soaked Lake Como on Monday. The songstress, 31, who announced her engagement to fiancé Charlie Gardner in January 2022, flaunted her jaw-dropping figure in the tiny two piece as she larked about with her huge bridal party. The group enjoyed a spot of swimming and beaming Becky floated in a huge rubber ring before cheekily posing with an inflatable on her head. Back on shore the bride-to-be was showered with gifts including a heartfelt memory book full of photos and personal messages. The False Alarm hitmaker showcased her gym toned physique before later changing into a chic plaid maxi dress and trendy white trainers. Becky, who shot to fame on The Voice Uk in 2012, revealed she was engaged after Charlie popped the question while on a romantic holiday in the Maldives. She made the happy announcement with a slew of snaps of the happy couple posted to Instagram and wrote: 'turns out he actually does like me' followed by a diamond ring emoji. She then revealed that she wanted to have a 'sick' music festival-style wedding when the pair tie the knot. Becky told The Sun in 2022: 'We are having a festival of course! We are going to have a sick festival with an acoustic tent, a dance tent, a pop tent.' Asked if big names such as David Guetta and Little Mix would perform at the festival, Becky said: 'I'd like to think so. As long as they don't all need paying, yes. I'll be like, 'I'll give you cake'. Just let me get album two out of the way.' Commenting on Charlie's marriage proposal, she added: I was like, 'Shut the f*** up!' It was mad. He drew a heart in the sand on a desert island. The engagement came after Becky spoke to Daily Mail and admitted finding going abroad 'especially difficult' due to archaic attitudes towards her 'queerness '. A reclaimed slur, the umbrella term is used by anybody who does not identify as heterosexual or the gender binary. Becky declared herself a member of the LGBTQ+ community, however was left feeling perplexed following an interview in Poland. The group enjoyed a spot of swimming and beaming Becky floated in a huge rubber ring before cheekily posing with an inflatable on her head The kooky star appeared to having a wonderful time as she celebrated with her friend She then revealed that she wanted to have a 'sick' music festival-style wedding when the pair tie the knot The False Alarm hitmaker showcased her gym toned physique before later changing into a chic plaid maxi dress and trendy white trainers She exclusively told Daily Mail: 'One of the things that I found especially difficult is talking about my queerness in different countries. 'I recently went to Poland and I was asked about being queer in an interview and what it meant considering I had a boyfriend who was in a heterosexual relationship.' The Wish You Well songstress continued: 'I answered it very honestly - as I would always answer any question I get asked. 'But it's difficult when attitudes in certain areas of the world haven't been brought up to the same date as us. 'Everybody's got to come into the 21st century, everybody's got to get used to the idea that queer people are here and not going anywhere.' 'Hopefully people will start to love the queer community as much as I do.' She previously told Attitude: 'I felt a bit like an imposter because I've had a boyfriend for five and a half years… I feel much better now I am under the queer umbrella. 'I also think it's important for women to own their queerness, instead of over-sexualising their desire for other women for the sake of straight men. 'I know I enjoy sleeping with women, to what degree of that I don't know, but I'd rather call myself queer and name it for what it is, than have men fantasise over the idea that I might be bi-curious or like a cheeky threesome here and there.' She announcemed her engagement with a slew of snaps of the happy couple posted to Instagram and wrote: 'turns out he actually does like me' followed by a diamond ring emoji. Last year Becky astonishing net worth has been revealed - 12 years after losing out in the final of The Voice UK. After soaring to fame following her stint on the show, the music career has gone from strength to strength and so too has her bank balance, with it being said she's amassed a whopping fortune of £6.6 million. Becky's multi-millionaire status is owed largely to her jam-packed schedule of live shows, including a very lucrative residency in Ibiza, with The Sun reporting that Becky's earnings hit an eye-watering £313,000 per month. Records filed at Companies House reportedly show that the Lose Control hitmaker's primary business, EKO Music disclosed profits of £4.1 million, with the sum boosted by an additional £437,224 from Becky's newest venture, EKO Entertainment LLP. Love Island Ofcom complaints skyrocket to 9000 as viewers blast 'abusive' behaviour leaving stars 'broken' - and ANOTHER on-screen romp in shared bedroom sparks major backlash

Love Island Ofcom complaints have skyrocketed to a whopping 9000. Viewers of the ITV2 dating show have blasted the 'abusive' behaviour that has left stars 'broken' and ANOTHER on-screen romp which has sparked major backlash. 9,339 viewers were very unhappy some of the scenes that occurred during the programme - with the majority being about the alleged bullying towards Shakira Khan, 22. The complaints were registered with Ocfcom and now the watchdog is investigating the show. Shakira and Harry Cooksley, 30, recently got back together after he went exclusive with Helena Ford, 29, leaving her heartbroken. The trio had been involved in a very messy love triangle from the very start of the series, after originally coupling up with Shakira, and then deciding to be with Helena. Many have questioned Harry's behaviour throughout the show. Despite sharing their concern over Shakira, many have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share how well Shakira has been perceived. 'Shakira is the most respectful, self aware, mature person in Love Island history, never mind the fact that she's only 22.' 'Shakira is so real that she's willing to leave the villa without a man or winning instead of faking it with Conor till the end, if anything we can be proud of her for staying true to herself, but damn Harry?!?' '"I do like him, I just don't like him enough," you know what Shakira that's real.' 'Well you can't say Shakira is a game player! She could have faked it with Ty and Conor to get to the final and potentially win but looks like she dgaf about winning or getting to the final.' Duty of care is available to all Islanders 24/7. But 29 people did take to Ofcom to share their concerns about Harry after he opened up about his true feelings towards Shakira. The publication reported that 298 were made about the way Blu Chegini, 26, spoke to Toni Laites, 24, during an argument - and accused the star of 'stirring drama' to get more 'air time' as final approaches. Megan Clarke, 24, made a shock return to the villa last week after getting brutally dumped from the villa - and this led onto 55 complains about it. Daily Mail contacted ITV for comment. Meanwhile others took to social media to share their complaints about some of the Islanders getting frisky in the communal bedroom. Earlier this week viewers pointed out that Meg Moore, x, and Dejon Noel-Williams, x, had close under the sheets during Monday and Tuesday's episodes. One said on X: 'Meg and Dejon having sex is making me sick I'm making a complaint to OFCOM.' 'Ffs every night Meg and Dejon having sex save our eyes plz.' 'I do not want to see Meg and Dejon having sex twice producers. My day is ruined.' 'I feel like Meg and Dejon is sexually assaulting me in my own home. Please don't ever show them having sex on my screen again please!' 'WE DON'T WANT TO SEE MEG AND DEJON HAVING SEX.' Last week it was revealed that Love Island had racked up more than one thousand Ofcom complaints with fans appalled by the 'misogyny and bullying' on the ITV2 show, which has reduced stars to tears. The recent few weeks of the series have been full of drama, so it's no surprise that viewers have taken to the telly regulator to share their concerns. The complaints that have been made have been registered with Ofcom, the regulator will not be investigating the show. According to The Sun, a whopping 280 people took to the broadcasting watchdog to shared their complaints over Harrison Solomon, 22, Dejon Noel-Williams, 26, and 30-year-old Harry Cooksley's alleged misogynic behaviour. Meanwhile others (247 people) shared their concern about Shakira after some alleged bullying. And there are some episodes in particular that concerned viewers. The instalment that aired on July 20 received a number of complaints - including 222 viewers that weren't happy about Dejon's behaviour towards women. And a number of islanders raised some eyebrows on July 17. 69 people complained about Harrison's alleged misogynic behaviour and a further 27 took to the regulator to share concern about Shakira's well-being. Love Island's episode on July 15 bagged 184 in total about a number of different things. 107 people complained about Harrison's alleged misogynic behaviour and 44 weren't happy with how Lauren Wood, 26, was perceived on the show. 34 others thought that there was some bullying behaviour towards Shakira and Toni. Before entering the villa, the show share a number of care protocols with the stars, including training in language and behaviour. They are also told to suspend social media and are given ongoing support before, during and after they take part in the programme. ITV's official website states: 'Programme contributors will be offered a full package of measures to ensure they remain supported prior to, during and after the filming period on the show. 'After an initial trial period, the show will now formally introduce a guideline asking participants to pause social media handles and accounts for the duration of their time on the show, to ensure that both the Islanders and their families are protected from the adverse effects of social media.' The welfare services that islanders are offered include: comprehensive psychological support, training on impacts of socal media, financial management, conversations regarding the impact of participation on the show. They are also offered an aftercare package and guidance and advice on taking on management.

However Jess, who recently shut down cheating rumours, confirmed they were no more as she responded: ''Girl' says who?? The internet?? 'He doesn't need to ask me anything because we're not together. Let it go.' Jess hit back at rumours she had cheated on Ayo, after he had removed all traces of her on his Instagram.
