Baby girl yearns for father killed in FRU crash
GOPENG: The one-year-old daughter of the late Kpl Amiruddin Zabri, one of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members killed in an accident near Teluk Intan earlier this week, is missing her father badly.
His widow, Norazian Mohd Joned, 38, said Amira Sofea would cry in the middle of the night, looking for him.
'Our daughter is very attached to him, as he used to put her to sleep every night,' she said during the visit by National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) chief operating officer Mastura Mohd Khalid as part of their Ziarah Kasih programme held at her home here yesterday.
'Thank God, we recorded a lot of videos of my husband and I can play them for my children including my two boys, Amirul Firdaus, 12, and Amirul Asyraf, 11.'
On May 13, a gravel-laden lorry had crashed into a FRU truck on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, which was on its way back to its base in Sungai Senam in Ipoh.
Apart from those who lost their lives, there were also nine other FRU personnel who sustained injuries from the accident.
Norazian, who works as an administrative assistant at the Kampar police station, also said that she does not bear any grudges against the lorry driver involved in the incident.
'I forgive the lorry driver, as the incident might be 'asbab' (fated),' said Norazian, with tears streaming down her cheeks.
She also recalled that Kpl Amiruddin had once spoken about the honour of dying in service.
'He once spoke about a case involving firemen who drowned while trying to save others.
'He said the firemen died honourably and the entire country had prayed for them.
'Maybe he had a similar wish in his heart,' Norazian said, adding that her life still feels surreal with her husband no longer around.
Norazian also expressed her gratitude for the aid provided by PTPTN, saying it would help ease her burden in securing her children's education.
'My husband wanted one of our children to become a religious teacher and I'll work towards fulfilling it,' she said.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the buses would be used by the FRU for general use and long-distance travel. In a written parliamentary reply, Saifuddin said the ministry proposed that funds be allocated to procure the buses under the 13th Malaysia Plan. He also said the ministry has proposed customising existing FRU vehicles to ensure they fit the set safety specifications, as well as the installation of additional safety components like dash cameras. 'The police are holding discussions with various stakeholders concerning improvements to SOPs (involving the transportation of FRU personnel). 'The date of implementation of the new SOPs will be set once the procedures are finalised and approved by the police force's leadership,' he said. A preliminary report by the task force investigating the crash also found that the tipper lorry was carrying 40,960kg of gravel, exceeding the permitted limit of 24,000kg by 70.67%.

Audience moved to tears by tribute to FRU crash victims
IPOH: Hundreds of spectators at the banquet hall of the Perak Darul Ridzuan building were moved to tears as they watched a pantomime that reenacted the fatal crash involving the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and a lorry in Teluk Intan on May 13. A sombre atmosphere accompanied the staging of the pantomime yesterday titled Sang Beret Merah (The Red Berets), held to commemorate those who died in the tragedy. According to a Bernama report, the 15-minute pantomime was performed by 20 PDRM personnel and 30 members of Persatuan Deklamasi Lakon Perak. The performance also included a poetry recitation by Perak Cultural Council deputy president Azmi Ismail, Perak police contingent representative ASP Samsudin Hussin and Sgt Major Bashira Sharif from the Criminal Investigation Department. The pantomime featured the journey of the FRU members who were deployed for the Citra Pournami celebration in Teluk Intan before the accident which shocked the nation. Tears flowed as real-life footage of the fallen FRU members was shown during the performance. Earlier, Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah also watched the pantomime at the 2025 Perak Warriors' Day celebration. At 8.50am on May 13, tragedy struck when a truck carrying 15 FRU personnel from Unit 5 Ipoh collided with a lorry transporting stones while on their way to Ipoh after completing their duty in Teluk Intan. IPOH: A sombre atmosphere filled the air at the Banquet Hall of the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building as attendees were moved to tears by a pantomime performance paying tribute to victims of the tragic Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) accident in Teluk Intan. The 15-minute performance, titled 'Sang Beret Merah' (The Red Beret), depicted the final journey of the FRU officers who had been assigned on duty during the Chitra Pournami festival in Teluk Intan on May 13, which later resulted in a tragic crash. Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, also witnessed the performance after gracing the Perak state-level Warriors' Day 2025 celebration earlier. Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad was moved to tears. The performance featured 20 police officers alongside 30 members of the Persatuan Deklamasi Lakon Perak. Also killed were Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, from Taiping; Corporal Muhamad Akmal Muhamad, 35, from Kuala Kurau; Lance Corporal Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33, from Ipoh; and Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, from Lunas, Kedah.
