"I'm happy to complete a sprint double in my first competition of the year. For the record, it's my fourth career sprint double," said Danish.
"Although I was tired after the 200m semi-finals, I managed to win the final, which was held just about two hours later."
Danish's next outing will be at the Asian Championships in South Korea from May 27-31, and he is hoping for a strong showing.
"I'm looking forward to better things in the coming meets," said Danish, who is coached by his father, Roslee Ismail, and Olympian Nordin Jadi.
Meanwhile, reigning Malaysia Games champion Fakhrul Afizul Nasir clocked a season-best 51.97s to win the 400m hurdles gold.
The 21-year-old now hopes to break his own national record of 51.11s at the Asian meet.

Helang Putih returns as official mascot for Sukma Selangor 2026
THE white eagle, Helang Putih, has been reintroduced as the official mascot for the 22nd edition of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026. The event will take place from 15 to 24 August next year. This marks the second time the mascot has been featured, having first appeared when Selangor hosted the games in 1998. The launch of the logo, mascot, and theme for SUKMA and Para SUKMA 2026 was officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. A pair of Helang Putih mascots were unveiled, representing strength and the spirit of youth. The theme for this edition, 'Rentak Kita, Aksi Kita,' was also announced. The male and female mascot designs symbolise unity, inclusivity, and athlete synergy. The iconic Selangor colours of red, yellow, and white dominate their appearance. Amirudin expressed confidence that hosting the biennial event would positively impact national sports development. He urged all involved parties to give their best focus, emphasising that the event reflects the nation's image. The ceremony was held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa. Also present were KSU of the Youth and Sports Ministry Datuk Dr K. Nagulendran and MOM President Tan Sri Dr Mohamad Norza Zakaria. Selangor Exco for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi, who chairs the SUKMA 2026 organising committee, reaffirmed Selangor's commitment to a successful event. He stated that all events from the previous edition in Sarawak would be retained. The approach ensures SUKMA stays true to its original goal of nurturing new talents. Najwan highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities for athletes from all states. The ultimate aim is to produce athletes who can bring glory to the nation. - Bernama

11-corner challenge awaits Hakim Danish in bid to maintain top spot
AFTER FIM JuniorGP World Championship at the Magny-Cours Circuit in France where the race took place in wet conditions and Danish crashed out while running in 6th position, he now returns with renewed motivation and valuable experience gained from last week. Round 5 of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup takes place this weekend at Sachsenring, Germany. This short but technical track is famously known as The Sachsenring Rollercoaster due to its unique, undulating layout. Stretching 3.67km, the circuit features 3 right-hand corners and 10 left-handers, with the final uphill turn expected to provide an intense challenge and close racing this weekend. Danish remains at the top of the overall standings with 148 points, holding a 32-point lead over second-placed rider Brian Uriarte of Spain. SIC Racing Team Manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin, is also on-site at Sachsenring to oversee all preparations, setup, and strategy to ensure a smooth race week. 'This weekend marks race week, and I'm feeling incredibly excited to hit the track. My goal is to secure a podium finish and stay calm without being too hasty during the race. I truly appreciate all your support and hope you'll keep me in your prayers for a successful weekend,' said Hakim.
