Calumpit, Bulacan placed under state of calamity due to Habagat 2025 floods
Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino declared the state of calamity after the Sangguniang Bayan passed a resolution based on the recommendation of the Calumpit Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the local government unit said.
Based on data from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, a total of 40,501 families or 131,832 individuals from 29 barangays were affected by floods.
Meanwhile, 317 families or 1,188 individuals were in nine evacuation centers.
Some 19 hectares of crops were damaged, estimated to cost P3.8 million, the LGU said.
With a state of calamity, the LGU may use the calamity funds to respond to residents affected.
Quezon City, Malabon, and Cavite also declared a state of calamity.
Manila and Dagupan City are also set to declare a state of calamity based on the recommendations of their respective city disaster risk reduction and management offices, according to a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

Gorio slightly intensifies as it moves west to Taiwan
Typhoon Gorio slightly intensified as it continued moving west, according to the PAGASA late Thursday evening. 'As of 10 p.m., the center of the eye of Typhoon GORIO was estimated based on all available data at 300 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.' the state weather bureau said in its 11 p.m. advisory. The typhoon was moving westward at 25 km/h. 'GORIO may make landfall over the eastern coast of southern Taiwan tomorrow (13 August) morning or afternoon and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow afternoon or evening. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.2 is in effect over Itbayat, Batanes while TCWS No. 1 was issued for the rest of the province. Meanwhile, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the Babuyan Islands and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan, the eastern portion of Isabela, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte. A Gale Warning is in effect over the seaboard of Extreme Northern Luzon. Up to very rough seas of up to nine meters will be experienced on the seaboards of Batanes. Gorio maintains strength, direction; Signal No. 1 raised over Batanes
Typhoon Gorio maintains its strength as it moves in the west northwest direction over the past six hours as Signal No. 1 is raised over Batanes, according to the latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin posted by PAGASA. The center of Typhoon Gorio was estimated at 440 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 150 km/h, central pressure of 975 hPa, and moving west northwestward at the sped of 25 km/h. There will be strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 400 km from the center, the weather bureau reported. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No.1 is raised over the following areas: Batanes "Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA said. Severe Winds "The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction," the agency added. Signal No. 1 up over Batanes as Gorio moves westward over Philippine Sea
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over Batanes on Tuesday morning as Typhoon Gorio (Podul) maintained its strength as it moved westward over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA said. Under TCWS No. 1, Batanes will experience strong winds with speeds of 39 to 61 km/h in 36 hours, posing minimal to minor threat to life and property, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. bulletin. Gorio is forecast to slightly intensify before making landfall over Taiwan, PAGASA said. The typhoon was last spotted at 10 a.m. at 560 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and with gustiness of up to 150 kph. It was moving west at 25 kph. While the typhoon is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds are expected in some parts of Extreme Northern Luzon due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon. The highest possible wind signal that may be raised is TCWS No. 2 in Batanes, while areas under TCWS No. 1 may experience minimal to minor wind impacts. Wind and monsoon effects Today, the Babuyan Islands and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan will experience strong to gale-force gusts, especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds. By Wednesday, these conditions may also affect the northern portion of Ilocos Norte. PAGASA warned that winds could be stronger in coastal and mountainous areas exposed to the prevailing wind direction, and less intense in sheltered areas.
