Hezbollah SG: Defending homeland requires no one's permission

Saba Yemena day ago
Beirut – SABA:
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassem, affirmed on Friday that 'defending the homeland requires no one's permission', adding that the resistance remains open to discussions when a serious and effective alternative for national defense is proposed.
In remarks delivered during the ninth night of Ashura commemorations at the Sayyed al-Shuhada Complex, as reported by Al-Manar, Sheikh Qassem stated:
'We are not far from discussion and understanding with those who claim to be capable of protecting the country. But we will not accept demands to hand over our weapons without first demanding an end to aggression.'
He criticized those calling for disarmament while remaining silent about the Israeli occupation, saying:
'It is illogical to criticize only those resisting occupation while ignoring the occupier itself.'
Addressing those betting on foreign powers or hiding behind hostile forces, Qassem said:
'You miscalculated. The people of resistance do not fear enemies, nor will they surrender their rights. True achievement lies in liberating land and restoring sovereignty — and we are always ready for this mission.'
He emphasized that Ashura commemorations are a revival of Islam's broad and timeless teachings, noting that Islam is not a set of rigid rituals, but rather a comprehensive project for humanity, built on unchanging values and flexible practices that adapt to time and experience.
Sheikh Qassem added that the emergence of pioneering figures in Lebanon who adhere to Islamic principles reflects a living embodiment of the values Hezbollah believes in.
He also recalled the resistance's role in recent confrontations:
'In our last two battles — 'Al-Awliyaa' al-Ba's' and 'Al-Aqsa Flood' — we fought alongside the people of Gaza and sacrificed many martyrs, including women and children, because our resistance is comprehensive and inclusive.'
He concluded by stressing that true patriotism lies in attachment to the land and defending it, educating future generations to love and belong to it:
'We believe in our country. There is no contradiction between Islam and patriotism. Islam encourages love of the homeland and urges its defense.'
Qassem reiterated that Hezbollah's choice of resistance stems from Islam, inspired by the paths of Imam Hussein (A.S.) and Lady Zainab (A.S.), stating:
'Our resistance is not a slogan, but a firm stance against the Israeli enemy. He must leave — and we have no option but to resist him until he does.'

Thousands protest in Paris demanding end to genocide in Gaza

Paris – Saba: Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of the French capital, Paris, on Saturday under the banner 'Stop the Genocide in Gaza,' in response to calls from pro-Palestinian organizations. Protesters gathered at the iconic Place de la République, waving Palestinian flags, before marching toward Place de la Bastille, according to Anadolu Agency. Chants echoed throughout the march, calling for an immediate halt to what participants described as the genocide perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Several demonstrators were seen wearing accessories and bags marked with the watermelon symbol—now widely recognized as an emblem of solidarity with Palestine. The crowd also condemned the targeting of Palestinian journalists in Gaza by Israeli forces and called for a boycott of brands that support the Israeli occupation. Protesters demanded an end to the Israeli blockade to allow humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave. One participant wore a sign that read, 'I dream of seeing a free Palestine one day,' while another held a small doll covered in red, wrapped in a shroud—symbolizing the children killed by Israeli fire in Gaza. Mufti of Oman denounces normalization with "Vanishing Zionist Entity"

Muscat - Saba Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, the Mufti of Oman, expressed profound astonishment at the desire of some nations to normalize relations with the "Zionist enemy"—an entity he described as doomed to vanish. In a post monitored by Saba News Agency, Al-Khalili questioned: "How can anyone seek relations with a disappearing entity whose own people no longer believe in remaining on occupied land, an entity that persists only through perpetual war?" He warned of the grave miscalculation: "Do those pursuing normalization not fear their bargain will prove disastrous? What a catastrophe!" The religious leader intensified his critique: "Even if dealing with a temporary occupying power, some might claim pragmatic justification—but how justify ties with a savage colonizer that sustains itself on the blood of innocent children, women and elders? How accept rewarding those who slaughter our kin and faith? How abandon fundamental rights?" Al-Khalili concluded with a moral indictment: "The true tragedy emerges when oppression gets recast as peace". This statement marks a significant clerical challenge to Gulf normalization efforts, framing them as both strategic errors and moral failures while highlighting Zionism's existential contradictions through its own demographic anxieties Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
