The Beckhams Are So Back That They're Going to ‘Bend It Like Beckham' Again
The comedy ended up being the harbinger of Knightley's astronomical rise into stardom — coming just one year before 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' and 'Love Actually.' In it, she is one of two soccer playing girls (the other played by Nagra), who attempt to pursue the sport professionally (and it's called football there, obviously).

'I'm excited to revisit the original characters and revive the enduring story and build on the legacy we helped to create for the women's game,' Chadha said, adding that 'I'm pretty certain that everyone's going to want to come back' and that the original cast was aware the movie was in development.
Knightley told Jimmy Fallon in 2023 that she did not anticipate that the film would be any kind of hit. In fact, because people told her the title was 'embarrassing,' she reassured herself that no one would see it. 'It was the idea of it because, you know, women's soccer was not as big back then,' she explained. 'And so the idea of the whole thing was sort of ridiculous.'
The actual Beckhams, of course, are ever-present in the cultural conversation. The couple — David and Victoria — made a cameo in the original film, named in Beckham's honor. David was also the subject of the Netflix's 'Beckham,' which ended up winning the Emmy for Outstanding Documentary Series last year. The show followed the both his and Victoria's personal and professional lives, and its most famous scene became a meme-of-the-moment.
In the first episode (of four), Victoria said that both she and David came from working class families, to which David pushed Victoria to admit that her father drove her to school in a Rolls Royce. In 2024, editor Michael Harte discussed this scene with IndieWire. 'You gotta give massive credit to [director Fisher Stevens,' Harte said. 'That scene is, if anything, a representation of how good he was at getting people to relax in front of the camera. And also Tim Cragg, our cinematographer, who had the wisdom to keep the camera going back and forth. The person that deserves the least amount of credit is me, because it's probably the least amount of editing in the whole series!'
A more Victoria-centric doc is set to release soon, also from Netflix, of which David said, 'It took a minute to try and get her to agree with it… It wasn't something that was easy. I think I'm the only one who could convince her and I did, eventually.' But he added that viewers would see her 'in a delightful light.' The series will cover Victoria's entire career. 'I think it's going to be really special. It's so emotional, there's drama — and the drama's real,' David said.

By Milly McEvoy England rugby star Sadia Kabeya is ready to have fun as the Red Roses seek global glory on home soil. The 23-year-old is set to embark on a second major tournament with England, having burst onto the scene in 2021. The undeniable best team in the world, England have external expectations to lift silverware this summer but Kabeya's aims are different from that. 'For me, it is hard because I have always played for the enjoyment, and I think it is natural in any professional sport for you to have ups and downs,' she explained, as part of a new LG OLED TV collaboration ahead of this summer. 'But I just want to be able to play with so much fun, and that is how I want people to see me on the pitch. 'I don't have to play rugby because I want to be fast, I want to hit somebody, I want to play rugby because Sadia has so much fun, and I want to have that much fun. 'I think in professional sport you lose that, and I want to gain that back and be that for someone watching, that would be amazing.' Kabeya was a new face to the England team in New Zealand three years ago, when the Red Roses were beaten by the hosts in the final. Since then, she has established herself as one of the most reliable members of the back row, but with that comes more pressure. She added: 'The first time for me was a whirlwind. I was fresh into the squad, and it was a huge experience for me. 'I think this time it means that bit more, being at home and being a bit more cemented in the squad. To be able to hopefully represent my country at home would mean a lot. 'Three years ago was a baptism by fire. We played in record crowds at the time, and to play in that at 19 years old, the biggest stage for rugby, it taught me to deal with those crowds and with those big pressure moments. 'In a team like England, you are used to winning, but when you go to a big tournament, everything is different, everyone is on their A game, so I think what I have taken from those times is how to deal with those big pressure situations.' Linkin Park's Comeback Album Manages Its Own Comeback
Linkin Park shocked and delighted longtime fans all around the world last year by announcing that a new chapter was coming years after the death of Chester Bennington. Following a lengthy hiatus and a period of mourning, the Grammy-winning hard rock outfit reformed with new members, hoping to continue the legacy that Bennington helped start. Linkin Park shared multiple singles and dropped From Zero, its hugely-anticipated comeback set, which became a big win all around the world. The title spent months on various charts and then disappeared, but now it's back in a big way in the United Kingdom, where the outfit recently performed during its From Zero World Tour. From Zero Returns to Three Charts From Zero can be found on four charts in the U.K. at the moment. It was only present on one of them last week, and now it finds its way back to the Official Album Sales, Official Physical Albums, and Official Album Downloads tallies. Linkin Park reenters the general sales ranking at No. 85 and comes in one spot lower on the list of the top-selling physical titles. From Zero barely makes it onto the roster of the most downloaded sets in the country, breaking back in at No. 99 on the 100-position ranking. As From Zero mounts a comeback on a trio of tallies, it can also be found on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. Linkin Park almost always occupies multiple spaces on that genre-specific list, and at the moment, From Zero rockets from No. 27 to No. 15. From Zero Previously Hit No. 1 on Every List The band sent From Zero to No. 1 on each list where it can currently be found. The title has spent at least 30 weeks on all four rankings, and so far, it's spent the most frames on the Official Rock and Metal Albums tally, with 38 stays. Hybrid Theory, Papercuts and Meteora Four different full-lengths from Linkin Park appear on the charts in the U.K. Hybrid Theory lives on half a dozen, and like From Zero, it returns to three of them while rising on the other trio. Papercuts, a compilation the group shared only months before announcing From Zero, climbs on two rosters, while Meteora shoots from No. 22 to No. 19 on the Official Rock and Metal Albums list.
