The Blues weren't just beaten but slightly embarrassed by Brazilian side Flamengo on Friday, thus a strong response was required from Enzo Maresca's side — even after making a number of changes to the starting lineup. Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella and Reece James were all unused substitutes in Chelsea's Group D finale and will be plenty rested for the round of 16 on Saturday (vs Benfica).
All three of Chelsea's goals were scored in stoppage time — two in the first half and one in the second — as Liam Delap scored his first goal (45'+5) since joining the club earlier this month and 19-year-old academy striker Tyrique George continued his rapid development with a goal of his own (90'+7), after Tosin Adarabioyo finally broke the deadlock (45'+3).

Tunisian champions eight of the last nine seasons, including the last two, Esperance picked up their first win of the Club World Cup on Friday as they beat MLS side LAFC 1-0 at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Algerian international Youcef Belaili scored the game's only goal in the 70th minute. The 33-year-old scored 20 goals in 37 games during the most recent season, his first at the club.
Chelsea vs ES Tunis prediction
Perhaps the collapse against Flamengo will be a wake-up call; perhaps an indicator of more struggles to come. Not yet, but soon (in the next round, when they face Bayern Munich). Chelsea 2-0 ES Tunis.

Liverpool interested in £35m world champion

Liverpool are monitoring Christopher Nkunku According to L'Equipe, the Reds are interested in the French forward. The 27-year-old has it difficult to translate his form at Leipzig over to Chelsea and so just two years after his initial move, the signs are suggesting that he could be headed out the door this summer. He's averaging a goal contribution every 125 minutes, but 10 of his 23 goals and assists have come in the Conference League, which the Blues won at the end of last season, beating Real Betis 4-1. In the latest Club World Cup campaign, he delivered a mixture of performances. At times, he was looking promising, to such an extent that Chelsea fans considered the idea that he might remain at the club for next season, but it appears as though he is still headed elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid target Chelsea defender as Diego Simeone eyes Cristian Romero alternative after Tottenham snub offer for centre-back

Tottenham refuse to negotiate for Romero Chelsea open to selling €35m-rated Veiga Simeone wants versatile defensive reinforcement Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? According to AS, Simeone and the Atleti hierarchy have now turned their attention to Veiga, the 21-year-old Portuguese defender owned by Chelsea. Veiga impressed on loan at Juventus last season and is reportedly open to leaving Stamford Bridge for more playing time. Chelsea are seeking up to £30 million ($41m) for his services. THE BIGGER PICTURE Veiga has long been on Atletico's radar, dating back to his days at Basel. The club monitored him closely before he joined Chelsea in 2024, and they reignited their interest when he was loaned to Juve in January. Atleti are actively looking to fill the void left by Reinildo, and Cesar Azpilicueta, and Veiga fits the profile both in terms of potential and price. Chelsea are currently overstocked at centre-back and see Veiga, 21, as a valuable but expendable asset. While highly regarded, he remains behind Levi Colwill in the pecking order and may be further marginalised by Chelsea's pursuit of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato. Veiga, who prefers playing as a central defender, was often deployed out of position at left-back or in midfield during his brief stint at Stamford Bridge. TELL ME MORE With Spurs blocking any approach for Romero, Simeone has instructed his club to work on alternate solutions. Veiga's tactical versatility and comfort playing at left-back are major assets, and Atletico could move for him either on a permanent transfer or via a loan with an option to buy. Juve paid €4m for a half-season loan and wanted to keep him, but their financial situation prevented a permanent now, Atletico are expected to open talks with Chelsea, buoyed by a good recent transfer relationship between the clubs, with deals like Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher in the past. WHAT NEXT FOR RENATO VEIGA? Los Rojiblancos remain front-runners to sign Veiga, but Bayern Munich's interest and Juventus' admiration mean competition is high. Whether through a permanent deal or a structured loan, Simeone is determined to add a versatile defensive piece to his reshaped squad before the new campaign kicks off.

'I was enjoying being at Chelsea' – EA Sports' new cover star explains why he left London

An EA Sports' new cover star has explained why he ended up leaving Chelsea and London despite enjoying being there. Young super star Jamal Musiala changed his international team from England to Germany, something that everyone in England will surely regret seeing. EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea start talks to sign Premier League centre back this week! And he did the same thing by leaving and English side to join a German one as well, swapping Chelsea for Bayern Munich. Masala joined Bayern from Chelsea for just a few hundred thousand euros, but he now has a reported transfer value of €140 million. What a rise to the top he has had, and the fact he changed England to Germany in more ways than one, must be hugely disappointing for anyone in England and Chelsea. But why did he leave? Jamal Musiala slices through a Champions League midfield. The Stuttgart-born superstar sat down with The Athletic, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, and explained his motives for his move to Bayern: 'It wasn't planned that we would leave England to go back to Germany. I had just finished my school exams and I was enjoying being at Chelsea. But then Bayern came in and, again, it just felt right to try something new. I knew how big Bayern were and, in the end, I just thought, 'Why not? Take the chance — go for it, and let's see if it works out'. I never try to think too much about what could go wrong in these moments. I'd much rather trust myself and go with the flow.' In other news today Mamadou Sarr is rejoining Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea after Fabrizio Romano called the 'here we go' done deal on that one late last night. Meanwhile, it turns out that PSG reps were already assuming that they would win the Club World Cup before the game against Chelsea was even played outin some remarkable news released over the weekend!
