PowerBall draw jackpot soars to R113 million on Friday, 1 August
According to lottery operator ITHUBA, the PowerBall jackpot stands at a staggering R113 million, while the PowerBall Plus prize has climbed to R26 million – making this one of the largest combined draws of 2025.
'To win, you need to play,' ITHUBA said, urging participants to purchase tickets through licensed retailers, online, or via mobile platforms.
The massive jackpot has sparked a surge in ticket sales, with hopefuls lining up for a shot at financial freedom. Many see the potential windfall as a beacon of hope amid economic challenges and rising living costs.
The draw will be broadcast live on Tuesday evening, and results will be available shortly after on official platforms, as well as The South African website.

Draws take place every Tuesday and Friday.
The record prize for any lottery game in South Africa came in the PowerBall when one winner scooped an incredible R232 131 750.69 in the draw held on 19 February 2019.
PowerBall Plus is exactly the same as PowerBall but gives players a second chance to win.
When buying a PowerBall ticket, players can pay an extra R2.50 per board to enter the PowerBall Plus draw.
Odds are the same, while prizes are usually slightly lower.
It was introduced on 28 November 2015 by the National Lottery of South Africa.

Ithuba denies jackpot winners are ‘associated' to Lotto operator
Ithuba strongly denied the allegations, reassuring players it is committed to fairness. Lottery operator Ithuba has rubbished suggestions that its jackpots are won by those close to the company. A person won the R124 million PowerBall jackpot this week, sparking widespread speculation online about the legitimacy of the draw and the winner's alleged links to the lottery operator. X posts 'We will see more jackpots rolling over to bigger amounts and won by 1 person whom is their associate,' read a viral message on X (formerly Twitter), posted by someone claiming to be a 'former senior employee' of Ithuba. The message alleges that jackpot wins are being manipulated as part of an internal agenda to secure the renewal of Ithuba's license. The post further claims that jackpots are not being awarded randomly, suggesting instead that individuals close to the company are benefitting. 'Jackpots won't be won until the licence expires because Ithuba wanted a renewal of the licence,' the anonymous post read.
