Venus Williams confirms engagement with Andrea Preti; who is American tennis star's fiance? All you need to know
After a remarkable comeback to professional tennis, Venus revealed how her fiance played a key role in her return. Here's everything you need to know about Andrea Preti and the announcement.
Andrea Preti is a Danish-born, Italian-raised creative known for his career as a former model, actor, writer, and director. Introduced to the fashion world as a teenager in Italy, Preti's modeling success opened doors to acting. He pursued formal training at the Susan Batson Studio in New York City, and his career spans television, film, and directing.
His debut as a filmmaker came with the 2014 movie 'One More Day', where he served as writer, director, and lead actor. That same year, he created 'The Wolf Man', a short film. Preti is working on 'Animals', an action film blending drama and romance. Preti has a net worth of $1 million, according to reports.
Venus Williams and Andrea Preti have kept their relationship largely private, and the exact details of how they met remain undisclosed. However, their romance first caught public attention in July 2024 when they were spotted boating together in Nerano, Italy, as reported by The People. In February 2025, Venus was photographed in Rome wearing a sparkling diamond ring on her left hand, sparking engagement rumours that she has now confirmed.
During her Washington Open interview, Venus shared how Preti supported her return to tennis after a break. When the interviewer referred to her as an 'engaged woman' and asked about Preti's role in her comeback, she said, 'My fiance is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing.'
She described the challenges of professional tennis, stating, 'Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? You guys don't know how much work goes into this, like it's 9 to 5 except you are running the whole time. Lifting weights and just like dying, and then you repeat it the next day. So he encouraged me to get through this, and it's wonderful to be here. He's never seen me play.'
Venus Williams' engagement to Andrea Preti marks an exciting chapter for the tennis legend. With her historic return to the court and Preti's creative endeavors, the couple is a powerhouse of talent and ambition.

US Open announces stellar cast for mixed doubles
New York, July 30 (UNI) The US Open has confirmed 14 of the pairings that will compete for $1m (£749,077) in next month's controversial mixed doubles event. Organisers were heavily criticised in February after announcing that the mixed doubles competition would be a standalone event on August 19-20 - before the hard court Grand Slam begins on August 24. British number one Emma Raducanu and five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz are one of six wildcard pairings, with eight teams gaining direct entry. The US Open said a further two wildcard entries will be announced at a later date. Of the 14 teams named so far, there are eight men and six women ranked in the top 10 in singles, and nine Grand Slam singles champions. Venus Williams takes up one of the wildcard places alongside fellow American Reilly Opelka. Wimbledon singles champions Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner have direct entry with their respective partners Casper Ruud and Emma Navarro, according to a BBC news. British number one Jack Draper also goes into the draw via that route, partnering Spain's Paula Badosa. Last year's mixed doubles winners Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori - who described the scheduling change as a "profound injustice" in a joint statement in February, and dubbed the new format "a pseudo-exhibition focused only on entertainment and show" - have received a wildcard entry. Manchester United Target PSG's Donnarumma As Potential Onana Replacement: Report
Last Updated: Manchester United are eyeing PSG's Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential goalkeeper addition. Nick Pope is also on their shortlist as a short-term option. Not a day goes by without Manchester United being linked to a high-profile name during the transfer window. The latest to emerge is Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain's first-choice goalkeeper and a mainstay for the Italian national team. So far this summer, the Red Devils have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon to their ranks. But with the transfer window still open, INEOS are reportedly pushing for three more additions: a striker, a defensive midfielder, and a goalkeeper. Among the names under serious consideration for the goalkeeper role is Donnarumma, 26, who has established himself as one of the world's top shot-stoppers. United are not only seeking competition for André Onana, but are also open to a possible long-term replacement. According to The Sun, Donnarumma has emerged as a priority target, though the Italian's price tag could reach €60 million, even with his contract at PSG set to expire in 2026. Interest from several top European clubs could further complicate any potential move. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has also weighed in, revealing that no formal contact has been made between United and Donnarumma's camp at this stage. While the club remains in the market for a goalkeeper, Romano emphasized that United are unwilling to be drawn into a bidding war, and will only proceed if the deal is financially viable. PSG Open to Selling? With contract extension talks stalling in Paris, PSG are reportedly open to selling Donnarumma to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2026. As speculation builds, Manchester United appear to be monitoring the situation closely. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Manchester United Pushing For Sesko As Hojlund Could Become Key To RB Leipzig Deal: Report
Last Updated: Manchester United may secure RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko if they include Rasmus Hojlund in the deal. Despite Newcastle's Champions League offer, Sesko reportedly prefers United. Manchester United may be inching toward a potentially fortunate transfer breakthrough this summer. According to recent reports, RB Leipzig could consider parting ways with highly rated striker Benjamin Sesko — if United include Rasmus Hojlund in the deal. Struggling with a lack of goals, United find themselves in a familiar position for the third consecutive summer. Ruben Amorim is reportedly eager to bolster the attack, and Benjamin Sesko has emerged as the club's top target, according to David Ornstein. The 21-year-old Slovenian striker has also indicated a preference for Manchester United over Newcastle United, despite both Premier League clubs expressing serious interest. While Newcastle can offer Champions League football next season—something United cannot under Amorim—Sesko still appears to favour a move to Old Trafford, according to German journalist Guido Schäfer. Despite this preference, no formal negotiations have yet taken place between RB Leipzig and any potential suitors. However, reports now suggest that a striker-for-striker swap could pave the way for a deal. RB Leipzig are reportedly open to selling Sesko if United include Rasmus Hojlund in the transaction, along with additional cash. Hojlund has endured a tough time in England. After scoring 10 goals in 30 Premier League matches during his debut campaign, the 22-year-old managed just four league goals in the 2024–25 season, along with six more in the Europa League. Still, his age and potential continue to make him a valuable asset, and Leipzig may view him as a worthwhile long-term investment. RB Leipzig aren't the only club with their eyes on Hojlund. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, AS Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini is considering a reunion with the Danish striker, even after securing Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton. Roma view Hojlund as a possible successor to Artem Dovbyk, who is attracting attention from Besiktas following Tammy Abraham's departure from the Italian capital. Gasperini and Hojlund previously worked together at Atalanta, where the striker scored 10 goals in 34 appearances during their single season together — form that convinced Manchester United to make their move. view comments First Published: July 30, 2025, 22:35 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
