TTD board member slaps legal notice on Tamil film actor Santhanam
'The song in question, 'Kissa 47,' presented in a rap style, has the lyrics, 'Srinivasa Govinda… Govinda Hari Govinda' (referring to Lord Venkateswara). The protagonist of the film uses the word 'Govinda' in a derogatory manner, said Mr. Bhanuprakash. The video of the song is already circulating on YouTube and other social media platforms.
Mr. Bhanuprakash, through advocate and BJP leader K. Ajay Kumar, has issued a legal notice to Mr. Santhanam and Hyderabad-based Niharika Entertainments. The notice accuses them of 'hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community at large.'
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mr. Bhanuprakash expressed deep concern over the deliberate use of the Lord's name in an offensive manner. 'Sanathana Dharma has become an easy target in the entertainment field. Will actors create such content and videos if it involves hurting the sentiments of other faiths?' he questioned.
The legal notice demands an unconditional apology from the actor and the immediate withdrawal of the song from the film and all public platforms. It warns of a ₹100 crore payout towards damages for remixing a much-revered devotional song if not removed.
Mr. Bhanuprakash further said that the complaint would be escalated to the Censor Board at New Delhi for initiating necessary action. Meanwhile, the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit has already filed police complaints at various places.

Coolie Tamil Nadu Day 6 Box Office Estimates: Rajinikanth's movie slumps further, adds only Rs 4 crore
Directed by Lokesh Kanagraj, Coolie was released in cinemas on August 14, 2025, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. The Tamil action thriller, led by Rajinikanth, was dubbed into the Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages. After its extended opening weekend, Coolie looks to slump at the Kollywood box office. Coolie fetches Rs 4 crore on Day 6 in Tamil Nadu markets Produced under the banner of Sun Pictures, Coolie maintained an excellent hold in its extended opening weekend in Tamil Nadu. The Rajinikanth-led movie collected Rs 96 crore gross, including Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It is among the top 3 Kollywood movies to have had the highest first four-day collections of all time in its home state. The action thriller observed a big drop on the first Monday, collecting only Rs 6 crore. Now, as per estimates, the numbers tumbled further to Rs 4 crore gross on the first Tuesday. Coolie has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the Kollywood box office, while bringing a cume gross collection of Rs 106 crore. Coolie will struggle to enter Rs 150 crore club in the state Going by the trends, it is unlikely that Coolie will be able to smash into the Rs 150 crore club in Tamil Nadu. Based on the opening, it should have been targetting Rs 200 crore plus in the state instead. Lokesh Kanagaraj's latest directorial, which clashed with War 2, will be perceived as a film that didn't match its potential. With Rajinikanth 's star power and good word of mouth, it could have been the highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. However, the recently released action thriller will now end in the top six highest-grossing films in Kollywood. Coolie may touch the top 5 list, but that's going to be tight. Coolie is a big hit as per the collections. Though it will emerge as an underwhelming performer. Coolie In Theaters Coolie plays in theaters now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates. From Psephology To Apology: Will Election Expert's Data Deletion Blunt Rahul Gandhi's Attack On ECI?
Last Updated: The BJP is out to portray Gandhi as having relied on Sanjay Kumar's data, leading him to launch a nationwide campaign of alleged 'vote theft' A 'sincere apology" and the deletion of social media posts suggesting a significant dip in the number of voters in two assembly constituencies compared to the Lok Sabha election held just months apart seem to have hit at the heart of Congress's attack on the Election Commission regarding Maharashtra. Psephologist and co-director of Lokniti-CSDS Prof Sanjay Kumar made the startling claim two days earlier. However, on Tuesday morning, he posted on X, 'I sincerely apologize for the tweets posted regarding Maharashtra elections. Error occurred while comparing data of 2024 LS and 2024 AS. The data in row was misread by our Data team. The tweet has since been removed. I had no intention of dispersing any form of misinformation." I sincerely apologize for the tweets posted regarding Maharashtra occurred while comparing data of 2024 LS and 2024 AS. The data in row was misread by our Data tweet has since been removed.I had no intention of dispersing any form of misinformation.— Sanjay Kumar (@sanjaycsds) August 19, 2025 This admission came on the heels of Rahul Gandhi's Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, where the Congress leader launched a fierce attack on the Election Commission. The Bharatiya Janata Party was in no mood to let go, with BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya lashing out at Kumar's apology, calling him a 'protégé of Yogendra Yadav". Malviya posted angrily, 'Incidentally, when was the last time this protégé of Yogendra Yadav ever got anything right? In all his projections in the run-up to every single election, the BJP is supposedly losing—and when the reverse happens, he turns up on TV justifying how the BJP won. Convenient." Rahul's 'vote chori' campaign Speaking at a recent Bihar rally, leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said, 'In Maharashtra, all the opinion polls were predicting that INDIA bloc would form the government, but in the election results, the BJP-led alliance formed the government. The BJP got the votes of 1 crore new voters." Gandhi further stated, 'In the entire country, vote theft is going on. In the name of SIR, they want to add new voters and steal the votes. In Bihar, we will not allow Vote Chori." With CSDS's Sanjay Kumar's turnaround, Congress and Rahul Gandhi may find it tough to promote the narrative of 'vote chori" against India's poll body. Sources indicate there was no unanimity from powerful INDIA constituents when the idea of seeking the removal of Chief Election Officer Gyanesh Kumar was floated. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress may find it harder to push it through due to Tuesday's revelation. BJP's counter Among the issues Rahul Gandhi highlighted in the press conference were duplicate entries of individuals, dozens of voters from a small house, to addresses with 'house number zero". He used EC's constituency-level data to support his claim, which the poll body dismissed. However, if politics is about perception, BJP is out to portray Gandhi as having relied on Kumar's data, leading him to launch a nationwide campaign of alleged vote theft, which now stands deleted. In his now-deleted post on Maharashtra elections, Sanjay Kumar had claimed that in the assembly constituency Ramtek, the number of voters in 2024 was 4,66,203 in the Lok Sabha polls and 2,86,931 in the assembly polls. In his second claim, Kumar suggested that in the assembly constituency Devlali, the number of voters in the Lok Sabha was 4,56,072, and during assembly elections, it came down to 2,88,141. While both posts are deleted, Malviya used screenshots to target Rahul Gandhi, stating, 'The very institution whose data Rahul Gandhi leaned on to defame the voters of Maharashtra has now admitted that its figures were wrong—not just on Maharashtra, but even on SIR." The very institution whose data Rahul Gandhi leaned on to defame the voters of Maharashtra has now admitted that its figures were wrong — not just on Maharashtra, but even on does this leave Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, which brazenly targeted the Election… — Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) August 19, 2025 top videos View all Over the weekend, holding a press conference to respond to Rahul Gandhi's charges, CEC Gyanesh Kumar said, 'If no declaration under oath is given within 7 days, claims will be considered baseless and invalid…" adding that those making unsubstantiated allegations, hinting towards Gandhi, should apologise to the nation. With Sanjay Kumar's U-turn, is that an option for Gandhi? view comments Location : New Delhi, India, India First Published: August 19, 2025, 22:47 IST News politics From Psephology To Apology: Will Election Expert's Data Deletion Blunt Rahul Gandhi's Attack On ECI? Hemant govt ‘grabbing' tribal land, says Champai
1 2 Ranchi: BJP MLA from Seraikela and former CM Champai Soren on Tuesday hit out at the Hemant Soren-led alliance govt by reiterating that the incumbent regime is busy "grabbing" tribal land. Addressing the media in Kanke ahead of his announced stir on Aug 24 against the proposed Rims-2 hospital project, Champai demanded that the state govt take this project to the Smart City area. "On Aug 24, I will be part of the mass protest here where tribals will plough the field to raise their voice against the govt's attempt to grab their agricultural land in the name of the hospital project. Neither I nor anyone else is against this project, but all that we are demanding is that farmers must not be robbed of the agricultural land," said Champai. Notably, in the past, many BJP leaders have already criticised this project at this particular site, citing large-scale displacement of farmers. Champai accused the state govt of violating the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, and the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act before acquiring the land for the project. However, the govt had earlier said the land belonged to it. "Nobody got any notices for land acquisition here. How can the govt take the land without following the rules? Under this regime, tribals and their land are constantly under threat," the former CM claimed. Reacting to the stir in the past, state health minister Irfan Ansari had said the land belongs to the govt and the project was aimed at revamping healthcare infrastructure, which will benefit people of Ranchi as well as the state.
