RB Leipzig interested in Club Brugge full-back Maxim De Cuyper

Yahoo14-03-2025
Sacha Tavolieri reports that RB Leipzig are interested in Club Brugge full-back Maxim De Cuyper as he looks to take the next step in his career in the summer.
De Cuyper has attracted interest from both Italy and Germany. AC Milan sees the 24-year-old as a potential successor to Theo Hernandez if the Frenchman decides to leave in the summer.
Leipzig are said to have De Cuyper top of their list when it comes to left-backs as they lack depth in the position behind David Raum, as shown by his recent injury this season. The left-back's contract in Brugge expires in 2028 and will cost around €20m.
Currently, Leipzig has two Club Brugge alumni in their squad. Loïs Openda and Antonio Nusa have both played for the club and have then gone on to have a successful period at the Red Bull Arena. However, both have struggled this season, as have Leipzig on the pitch.

Chelsea spree set to continue as talks advance for midfielder

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Xavi Simons with talks for the RB Leipzig midfielder at an advanced stage. Enzo Maresca's side are set to take their spending this summer north of £250m with the arrival of the Netherlands international. Simons will become the latest attacking addition for the Blues, following the arrivals of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens during the current window. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that negotiations with Leipzig are at an advanced stage. Talks have also progressed positively regarding personal terms. Leipzig are understood to be seeking a fee of around €70m (£61.1m) for the 22-year-old, who impressed individually despite a difficult 2024/25 campaign for the German side. Simons scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 25 Bundesliga starts last season. The previous year saw Simons included in the division's Team of the Year. Leipzig are prepared to sanction his sale after missing out on European football for next season. Read – See more – Follow The Football Faithful on Social Media: | | | |

Exclusive: Weekend decisive in Milan move for Jashari

Everyone has gotten ahead of themselves a bit in the negotiations between Club Brugge and the Rossoneri, over the future of Ardon Jashari, which now truly seem to be entering the stage of a full breakthrough. However, let us not forget that this whole story has been going on since June 12 when Michele Criscitiello, in an exclusive on Sportitalia, was the first to link Jashari to Milan. Before that, there had not even been a single whisper. In fact, a few months earlier, Milan had been seen as a club on the sidelines for the Brugge talent behind Juventus, who seemed to be 'pushing' but in reality never made any concrete move. BERGAMO, ITALY – FEBRUARY 18: Ardon Jashari of Club Brugge KV inspects the pitch prior to the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Knockout Play-off second leg match between Atalanta BC and Club Brugge KV at Gewiss Stadium on February 18, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) Milan ready to improve offer for Jashari Now, Milan are about to improve their offer for the fixed part of the deal, bringing it up to €35 million. Brugge knows that holding onto Jashari would mean keeping an unhappy player. This weekend will feel like the antechamber to a possible, even probable, green light for the medical. Of course, we are not in the heads of the Belgian directors and there is no point in saying that 'confidence is growing.' Let's wait for the facts… it has already been 45 days.

INEOS now ready to rival Bayern for ‘unstoppable' frontman who's a ‘thorn' in defenders' sides

Manchester United are considering scuppering Bayern Munich's pursuit of Christopher Nkunku, with the forward nailed on to leave Chelsea in the coming weeks. Already ranking behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, Nkunku is poised to see his minutes slashed even more after the Blues sanctioned the arrivals of both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro – to the point even Jackson now faces an uncertain future. The French international did feature throughout Chelsea's triumphant Club World Cup campaign, although he was really only playing to hopefully catch the eyes of his suitors before engaging in exit negotiations. Journalist Zach Lowy previously went as far as hailing him as 'unstoppable' and for being a 'thorn' in defenders' sides. Bayern set sights on Nkunku coup Nkunku has been utilised sparingly by Enzo Maresca. (Photo by) To Nkunku's delight, he has seen himself added to Bayern Munich's shortlist, which would allow him to return to the league where he showcased his most prolific goalscoring attributes in the form of the Bundesliga. His record in Germany speaks for itself: 47 goals and 43 assists in 119 appearances across four seasons with RB Leipzig made it no surprise that Chelsea forked out £52 million to add him to their ranks back in June 2023. Yet, unrelenting injury issues plagued Nkunku's first season in London; he was available to play only 14 times – including two Premier League starts – and returned three goals. The subsequent term saw him facing a mammoth task to claim a starting spot and, while he did feature 48 times in total, just nine of those came from the off in the league. What's United's stance on Nkunku? TeamTalk suggests United will offer the 27-year-old the opportunity to continue plying his trade in the English top flight but, ultimately, the chance to join a side like Bayern, who'll be well in the mix to win the Champions League and other silverware, may prove too lucrative to turn down.
