Franklin launches India Multi Asset Allocation Fund; check key details here

Franklin India Multi Asset Allocation Fund: Franklin Templeton (India) is set to launch its Franklin India Multi Asset Allocation Fund, an open-ended multi asset allocation fund investing in equity, debt and commodities.
The fund will aim to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing in equities with a blend of growth and value strategies across large, mid and small cap segments, complemented by allocations to debt, money market instruments, and commodities. The new fund offer (NFO) will open on July 11, 2025 and close on July 25, 2025.
According to the scheme information document (SID), the scheme aims to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing in equity and equity-related instruments, debt, money market instruments and commodities. However, there can be no assurance that the investment objective of the scheme will be achieved.
Avinash Satwalekar, president at Franklin Templeton (India), said, "The launch of this fund reflects our commitment to understanding our clients' priorities, goals and challenges – and delivering solutions that are aligned with their long-term financial objectives. FIMAAF adopts a flexible allocation strategy that is designed with an aim to leverage the distinct risk-return profile of equities, fixed income, and commodities. In the current volatile environment, where equity valuations are elevated and bond yields are stabilising, a portfolio combining these asset classes with commodities like gold can deliver superior risk-adjusted returns.'
He further added, 'We strongly believe that FIMAAF, guided by our proprietary global model integrating macroeconomic indicators with qualitative insights from our portfolio managers, can offer a compelling investment solution for our clients."
According to the Scheme Information Document (SID), the performance of the scheme will be benchmarked against the Nifty 500 index (65 per cent), Nifty Short Duration Index (20 per cent), Domestic price of gold (5 per cent), Domestic price of silver (5 per cent), and iCOMDEX composite index (5 per cent).
During the NFO, investors can invest a minimum of ₹5,000 and an additional purchase of ₹1,000 for subscription. Through a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), the minimum investment amount is ₹500.
According to SID, up to 10 per cent of the units can be redeemed without any exit load within one year from the date of allotment. However, any redemption in excess of the above limit shall be subject to a 0.50 per cent exit load if redeemed on or before 1 year from the date of allotment. No exit load will be charged if redeemed after one year from the date of allotment.
Janakiraman Rengaraju, Rajasa K, Rohan Maru, Pallab Roy, and Sandeep Manam are the dedicated fund managers for the scheme.
Franklin India Multi Asset Allocation Fund: Who should invest?
According to the SID, the scheme is suitable for investors seeking long-term capital appreciation and investment in equity, debt and commodities. However, investor should consult their financial advisors if in doubt about whether the product is suitable.

‘Private Markets New Equity': Edelweiss Mutual Fund's Radhika Gupta Highlights Investors' Shifting Risk Appetite

Last Updated: Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD Radhika Gupta notes a shift in investor behavior towards high-risk investments, redefining large-cap equities as stable options. For long-term investors, the large-cap equities have remained a preferred choice due to a blend of growth and stability. However, investor behaviour is shifting dramatically with an appetite for higher risk. According to Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD and CEO Radhika Gupta, stable instruments like large-cap equities are being redefined amid a shift towards high-risk, high-reward investment avenues among investors. 'Large-cap is the new debt. Private markets are the new equity," she wrote recently. — Radhika Gupta (@iRadhikaGupta) August 6, 2025 She added, 'An interesting quote I heard today that summarises how risk appetite has shifted upwards in the last 5 years, and some asset allocation buckets have been forgotten." Through her post, Gupta expressed the prevailing market sentiment, highlighting a trend where investors' risk appetite has shifted towards high-return instruments, leading to a change in conventional asset allocation. Previously, fixed-income assets like government bonds or high-grade debt instruments were seen as the safer, low-return options. However, with the market maturing and returns across asset classes evolving, investors have started placing large-cap funds in the 'stable' bucket. Much of the aggressive play is taking place in private markets such as venture capital, private equity and unlisted debt. 'My favourite index in this Nifty500 space is Nifty500 Multicap Momentum Quality 50," said Gupta, as quoted by Business Today, elaborating on the switch while attributing the same to the expanding Nifty500-based indices. The Nifty500 Multicap Momentum Quality 50, Gupta says, offers the simplicity of multi-cap portfolios, while also adding quality mid and small caps to the mix and creating momentum. Nifty 500 TRI, Nifty 500 Momentum 500 TRI, Nifty 500 Multicap, Momentum Quality 50 TRI, Nifty 500 Quality 50 TRI and Nifty 500 Flexicap Quality 30 TRI are the five unique indices in the category, according to Gupta. She also encouraged investors to explore the first and only index fund and ETF tracking the Nifty500, launched by Edelweiss Mutual Fund. The performance of the large-cap mutual fund reflects well on the evolving role of the asset class. Returns over the last six months have remained modest amid global market pressures. Over one year, funds like WhiteOak Capital Large Cap Fund managed to deliver 8%, as per the Business Today report. Over three years, ICICI Prudential and DSP Large Cap Funds have given impressive annualised returns of around 18-19 per cent, supported by smart portfolio strategies. Over the five years, Nippon India Large Cap Fund delivered a stellar 25.91 per cent CAGR, while thematic ETFs like BHARAT 22 gave over 33 per cent returns, the report added. view comments Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: August 13, 2025, 16:00 IST News business 'Private Markets New Equity': Edelweiss Mutual Fund's Radhika Gupta Highlights Investors' Shifting Risk Appetite Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Top Losers and Gainers on Aug 12: Astral, Praj Industries, Bata India, KPR Mill, RVNL among top losers today

After a sharp rally, Indian equities resumed their losing streak in Tuesday's session (August 12) as investors remained cautious ahead of key US inflation data, which is likely to shape the Federal Reserve's path on interest rates. Profit booking also weighed on markets, leading the Nifty 50 to close 0.40% lower at 24,487 points, while the S&P BSE Sensex fell 0.46% to 80,233 points. Both indices erased around 50% of the gains recorded in the previous session, while the broader markets also ended in the red. Data due Tuesday is expected to show that US consumers saw a slight pickup in inflation as retailers gradually raised prices on various items subject to higher import duties. In the US, the core consumer price index, regarded as a measure of underlying inflation because it strips out volatile food and energy costs, is projected to have risen 0.3% in July, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists. On the trade front, President Donald Trump on Monday delayed the reimposition of high US tariffs on Chinese goods for another 90 days. The move was the expected outcome from the latest round of talks between US trade negotiators and their Chinese counterparts, held in Stockholm in late July. Meanwhile, to mitigate the effect of higher US tariffs, India is reportedly looking to expand its export outreach to 50 countries, which together account for about 90% of its outbound shipments. On the geopolitical front, Trump downplayed expectations for his upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, describing it as a 'feel-out meeting' and saying he would confer with Ukrainian and European leaders after the discussion as he seeks to end the war in Ukraine. Astral emerged as the worst performer among Nifty 500 stocks today, tumbling 8.4% to ₹ 1,266 after investors were disappointed with the company's June quarter performance. A similar sell-off was seen in Praj Industries, which plunged 7.1% to ₹ 413 following Q1 results that showed a more than 90% drop in net profit to ₹ 5.34 crore. Action Construction Equipment shares also slumped 6.4% to ₹ 944 apiece, while Syrma SGS Technology fell 6% to ₹ 675. Other stocks such as Schneider Electric, Kajaria Ceramics, Bata India, KNR Constructions, GlaxoSmithKline Pharma, and nine other Nifty 500 constituents declined between 3% and 6.4%.

Nifty could see short covering on direct rise above 24,433: Anand James

Nifty experienced a sixth consecutive negative weekly fall, but a potential pullback is anticipated early in the week due to recovery signals after lower Bollinger Band penetrations. While broader markets struggle, PSU Banks show mixed signals with potential support from key stocks like SBI. MAHLOG and CMSINFO are top picks, indicating reversal attempts with bullish patterns and oversold conditions. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? This boosts the hope for a pull back move early in the week, as last Friday saw a close below the lower bollinger band. That said, the 200 day SMA, now positioned at 24049 is clearly pulling Nifty, with 23722 offering fibo support below. Alternatively, direct rise above 24433 could spark short covering After a fortnight of selling, the Nifty PSU Bank index witnessed a pullback this week from a horizontal support zone that has held since June. However, the last trading day of the week formed a doji candle, casting a doubt on the reversal's strength. On the weekly chart, the technical setup has not turned bullish yet, with the MACD still vulnerable to a bearish signal crossover. From a derivatives perspective, 85% of F&O stocks saw short additions on Friday. However, on a weekly basis, 71% of these stocks still hold long positions, indicating mixed sentiment. From a stock-specific angle, SBIN, PNB, Union Bank, and Indian Bank—which together constitute around 63% of the index—have shown early signs of a reversal. Notably, SBI formed a pinbar doji on Friday, adding weight to a reversal narrative. We see the Nifty PSU Bank index opening on a weak note next week, but support for reversal attempts may be expected from SBI, PNB, Union Bank, and Indian 46% of Nifty 50 constituents had a positive weekly close, only about 30% of Nifty 500 stocks did the same. So, yes, broader marker struggling when compared to the benchmark index, with small caps leading the declines, as only 24% of the small cap index had a positive weekly close. This shows that the traders are largely risk averse. This is also reflected in the number of stocks closing below pervious week's lows. While 55% of small cap indices did so, only 36% of Nifty 50 constituents did so. As Nifty 50 approaches it 200 day SMA, 46% of its constituents are already below this key MA, while 58% of the small cap constituents have already sunk before their respective 200 day SMA. On Thursday, it formed a bullish engulfing candle, followed by another green candle, indicating a potential reversal. Additionally, the MACD histogram is showing signs of exhaustion at lower levels, and a hammer candle on the weekly chart adds further weight to the reversal narrative. We expect the stock to move towards 348 in the near term.
