Learner driver teen caught doing 163kmh has third vehicle seized in two months
The Roads Policing Unit in New Ross seized a vehicle from a dangerous driver.
A driver has been arrested after overtaking an unmarked garda car at high speed whilst Wexford Roads Policing Unit conducted a speed checkpoint on the New Ross Bypass.
The 19-year-old teenager was detected travelling at 163 kmh in a 100 kmh zone along the Creaken stretch of the N25.
When the gardaí carried out a roadside check on the driver, he was found to be on a provisional license and unaccompanied.
Gardaí brought a driver to a stop having observed them breaking the speed limit in Wexford.
It was found that the same driver had his vehicle seized twice in June for driving unaccompanied.
The 2010 Lexus driven on this occasion was seized by the gardaí under Section 109A of the Road Traffic Act, 1961.
The teenager was arrested on the roadside and conveyed to New Ross Garda Station and was charged with dangerous driving.

Meanwhile, the car owner must now make an application to the District Court, should they wish to have the seized vehicle released, where the judge will decide on the matter.
The owner must also attend the court for the hearing.

They believe a dedicated garda unit would be 'empowered to investigate and act" on animal welfare issues.
