Yahoo2 days ago

4 Jun - It's been a while since Zhang Ziyi shared photos of her two kids, which made it a surprise to fans when she decided to post several images of her with her daughter and son on Weibo recently.
On 1 June, the actress took to Weibo to commemorate the International Children's Day by sharing nine never-before-seen photos of her and her 9-year-old daughter Xingxing, and her 5-year-old son, whose name she never shared.
She posted, "Every day spent with children is a gift from God... companionship is the best gift for children. Happy holidays my children, may your childhood be as colourful as a rainbow. Grow up healthy and happy."
While Zhang happily shared photos of Xingxing with her face exposed, she seemed more protective of her son, whose photos she picked only revealed his back or the side of his face.
Zhang tied the knot with rock singer Wang Feng back in 2015. The couple welcomed their first daughter together soon after, followed by their son in 2020. The couple ended their marriage in 2023.

Casino Tycoon Lawrence Ho's SPAC Swings Wildly After Merger With ‘Media And Entertainment Group'

Lawrence Ho, chairman and CEO of casino giant Melco International Development. A special purpose acquisition company backed by casino magnate Lawrence Ho completed its merger with an obscure media and entertainment company, whose stock was on a roller-coaster ride during its New York Stock Exchange debut on Thursday. Shares of France-based the Generation Essentials Group (TGE) skyrocketed as much as 234% on their first day of trading after the de-SPAC. The company closed flat at $10.04 on Thursday, reaching a market cap of $533 million. TGE merged with Black Spade Acquisition II, a blank-check company formed by Ho's Hong Kong-based family office Black Spade Capital, at an equity value of $488 million and enterprise value of $892 million. It came nearly a year after Ho listed Black Spade Acquisition II, raising $150 million with the aim to combine with a company in the entertainment, lifestyle or technology sectors that benefits from AI. TGE is a subsidiary of AMTD Digital, which briefly became the world's hottest stock after it went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2022. At the time, AMTD Digital founder Calvin Choi, a well-connected Hong Kong financier, amassed a paper fortune of as much as $37 billion in less than a month after AMTD Digital's listing. Shares of AMTD Digital have since plunged more than 99% from its peak in August 2022. Lawrence Ho (middle) and Calvin Choi (middle right), founder of AMTD Digital and the Generation Essentials Group. Formerly known as World Media and Entertainment Universal, TGE says it operates as a 'global media and entertainment ecosystem covering high fashion, arts, lifestyle, cultural, entertainment as well as F&B.' The company runs media outlets including the L'Officiel fashion magazine (acquired in 2022) and the Art Newspaper (acquired in 2023), produces Chinese-language movies with a combined gross box office it says reached more than $400 million, and operates two hotels—one in Hong Kong and the other in Singapore. TGE's biggest revenue contributor in 2024 was its 'strategic investments,' which included the stocks of Bank of Qingdao, Guangzhou Rural Commercial Bank and its parent AMTD Digital, as well as film investments. The company reported an 81% jump in revenue to $77 million last year, with 45% coming from those investments, followed by hospitality and media advertising. Its net profit more than doubled to $44.7 million during the period, mainly due to the disposal of some non-core businesses. A Black Spade Capital spokesperson said there're 'strong synergies' between TGE and Ho's entertainment and hospitality empire. 'We are actively exploring new ideas and collaborations to enhance value on both sides,' the spokesperson said in an email response. 'With TGE's hardworking team and innovative spirit, and now a solid capital raising platform, we are confident they will reach the next level and become a leading global force in media, fashion, and art.' Ho, chairman and CEO of casino giant Melco International Development, is a son of late casino legend Stanley Ho. In 2021, he listed his first SPAC in the U.S., raising $169 million. Two years later, that blank-check company completed a $23 billion business combination with VinFast Auto, Vietnam's electric-vehicle maker controlled by the country's richest person Pham Nhat Vuong. VinFast saw its stock inexplicably skyrocketed to a peak market cap of $190 billion in August 2023. Its shares have since then plummeted more than 95% from its peak.

Vic Chou would love to reunite with F4 members

6 Jun - Amid rumours that F4 is set to reunite for their 25th anniversary next year, Vic Chou recently admitted that he doesn't have any information about the event. As reported on Mingpao, the singer-actor, who was a part of the group that first debuted through the hit 1999 drama, "Meteor Garden", said that while he has no idea about such a reunion, he hopes that it would be possible. "Every year, I would hear about such opportunity and every year people would approach us. So, I do hope it will work this time," he said. Asked if such a reunion will be a possibility next year, Vic said, "I don't know. I think maybe I have my own expectations for F4. If you just want to make money, then don't look for me specifically. I hope there is some proper planning." As to why the reunion never happened despite them being approached to do so every year, the actor said that the four of them are being managed by different agencies. "I would get asked about reuniting and I would always say that it would be great. But then they will tell me that they will come back to me when there is an idea, but in the end nothing happened. It's like this every year and there is no correct answer to the question," he said. Vic Chou, Jerry Yan, Ken Zhu and Vanness Wu became an idol group F4 following the success of "Meteor Garden", which also co-starred the late Barbie Hsu. However, they disbanded in 2009, only to reunite again at the 2013 Spring Festival Gala in China. (Photo Source: Vic Fanpage IG, SOHU)

Mobile art display "Freak Family Roadshow" tours Bay Area

Have you ever felt like you don't fit in with your own family? An art display on wheels that has been on the move all over the Bay Area might be the attraction for you. "I've come up against a lot of fear in other places, which is totally understandable. I'm like, someone on the street begging people to enter an enclosed space that they weren't expecting with like, a scary gorilla right at the door," said Jo Cunningham, the artist behind the exhibit. Cunningham created the "Freak Family Roadshow," a trailer full of hand-sculpted art and thrifted trinkets designed to look like a 1950s-style family scene. An alien gorilla baby gazes longingly into the bathroom mirror and an alien with a nicotine problem wastes away in bed. Cunningham, who is a self-taught sculptor, wanted all of it to catch your eye. "I went to school for painting and drawing and I was really hyper critical on myself because I felt I should've been better, mastered it more. And with sculpture, I was very lenient and playful and it just brought the joy of making art back into my life," Cunningham said. Cunningham based the traveling art on her own family. Her mother is a primatologist and her dad is an artist whom she describes as an "alien fanatic." As for Cunningham, she said she is somewhere in between. The "Freak Family Roadshow" will be traveling around the Bay Area until Sunday. It is free to visit, but Cunningham asks for donations to pay for the fuel for her truck to keep the art installation moving. If you want to find the trailer or to learn more, visit the Freak Family Roadshow on Instagram.
