He was injured in cross-border fire by Pakistan on May 10 along the International Boundary in RS Pura area, Jammu.
He succumbed to his injuries today on May 11. The Prahari Pariwar stands firm with the bereaved family in these trying times," the BSF said in a social media post.
As many as eight troopers of the border guarding force's 7th battalion were injured in th shelling. Sub-inspector Mohammed Imteyaz later succumbed to his injuries.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held with full military honours at the BSF's frontier headquarters in Jammu's Paloura for Imteyaz.
His last rites will be performed at his native Narayanpur village in Bihar's Saran district.
A similar wreath-laying ceremony for Chimngakham will be held at the BSF's frontier headquarters.
The firing between BSF and Pakistan Rangers took place after India launched
following the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
On May 7, the Indian armed forces conducted Operation Sindoor, destroying nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). All subsequent retaliations to Pakistani offensives were carried out as part of this operation.
On Saturday, the two countries reached an agreement to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea after four days of cross-border strikes, which triggered fears of a wider conflict.

After the revision, federal ministers now earn ₹519,000 per month, up from ₹200,000. Earlier this year, Pakistan's Finance Committee approved salary increases for National Assembly members and senators as well, raising their monthly salaries to ₹519,000. The salary hikes come at a time when Pakistan continues to grapple with economic challenges, including inflation and pressure from international lenders for fiscal restraint. Gurvindar Singh was arrested outside a private property shortly after exiting his car near a waiting police car. Two Canadians of Indian descent, Aman Kang (24) and Mani Singh Dhaliwal (31), were also arrested. Authorities claim that they were hired by Gurvindar Singh to recover and distribute the cocaine cargo. Singh is facing five charges for importing a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs and illegal tobacco, two counts of dealing with proceeds of crime, and two charges related to leading a criminal group. If found guilty, he could face life in prison. Kang and Dhaliwal have been charged with possessing a commercial quantity of drugs and participating in a criminal group. All three were denied bail during their initial court appearances and are scheduled to return to Downing Centre Local Court in July. Singh's lawyer argued for his release on bail, citing his client's underlying health issues and the fact that he is the sole provider for his family.
