Thieves steal 60 guns from South Hill, WA storage units

Authorities in Pierce County are asking for the community's help to identify two thieves who stole 60 guns and hundreds of boxes of ammunition from a Puyallup storage unit business.
Surveillance video captured the Valentine's Day burglary at the Glacier West Self Storage in South Hill.
SOUTH HILL, WA - Surveillance cameras captured footage of two thieves stealing 60 guns and hundreds of boxes of ammunition from a storage unit business in Puyallup, and now sheriff's officials are asking for the community's help.
Video from a Valentine's Day burglary shows two thieves breaking into storage units at the Glacier West Self Storage on 160th Street in South Hill.
"They hit the jackpot with the second storage unit, and start stealing all these guns, ammunition," said Deputy Carly Cappetto with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
Cappetto tells FOX 13 Seattle the crooks got away with pistols, shotguns, rifles, and ARs, as well as hundreds of boxes of ammo. The total value of the arsenal is about $37,000.
Cappetto reports the crooks also stole thousands of dollars' worth of paintings.
"The sheriff's office is mainly concerned that now we have 60 firearms in the hands of criminals," said Cappetto.
The video shows the suspects fleeing in a white Ford F-150, without a tailgate or visible license plate.
Cappetto tells FOX 13 Seattle after weeks of investigating, the sheriff's department has hit a dead end and is asking for the community's help to solve this crime.
"Any gun in the hand of a criminal could be used for a variety of horrific things, anywhere from committing more crimes or selling them to more bad people," said Cappetto.
Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County is offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides a tip that leads to an arrest and charges.

Investigators tell FOX 13 Seattle the guns were all legally owned by the victim.

"Mr. Madison is someone who poses an extreme danger to himself, to the loved one that was with him, to everyone that operates a motor vehicle in this community," she added. Sheriff Derek Sanders said the large turnout was about standing with one of their own. "If you think that no one got hurt, you don't get shot at and just come back normal. I don't care who you are. I would just say it's important for our deputies to see the kind of community support," Sanders said. "I hope there is some remorse, and regardless of how this case resolves, even for the worst of the worst offenders, I hope they can find a way to somehow become better people and amend what they have done," Sanders added. Madison is currently being held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled, and trial proceedings are expected to begin later this summer. Midland man arrested for allegedly using truck to hit wife during domestic dispute
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Midland man is facing a felony charge after police say he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle during an argument Saturday morning. 61-year-old Ralph Allan Olson was arrested on June 7 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $75,000. As of Monday, Olson remained in custody at the Midland County Detention Center. No attorney was listed for him in court records. According to an arrest affidavit, Midland Police responded to a call just after 9 a.m., near Holloway Drive, for a reported accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found the victim, identified as Olson's wife, with visible scrapes and bruises on both knees and her left arm. Olson allegedly told officers that he and his wife had been in a verbal argument earlier that morning. He said he left the home but returned a short time later and saw her walking near the curb. Olson admitted he 'sped by out of spite' following the argument and struck her with his brown Ford F-150 on the passenger side of the vehicle. The victim confirmed the couple had been arguing and said she was walking along the curb when she noticed Olson's truck approaching. She told officers she was struck by the passenger-side hood and mirror, which knocked her to the ground. Despite her injuries, she initially told police she did not want to pursue charges. However, officers reviewed security footage from a nearby residence, which reportedly showed Olson driving at a high rate of speed through the residential neighborhood and making no attempt to avoid hitting the woman until after the impact. The video also showed that the victim was walking near the curb and not obstructing the roadway. Several witnesses told police that Olson did not immediately return to the scene after the collision. Due to the totality of the evidence, including Olson's admission, video footage, and eyewitness accounts, he was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 38-year-old man arrested in Urbana on child exploitation crimes
URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A joint investigation by the Urbana Police Department and a Kentucky Police Department resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man on three child sex crimes Wednesday morning. On June 11, officers with the Urbana Police Department arrested Carson Zajdel at his residence in the 1900 block of N Lincoln Ave., officials said in a release. He was taken into custody without incident on the following preliminary charges: Indecent solicitation of a child Sexual exploitation of a child Possession of child pornography 4-year-old hurt in Danville hit-and-run; driver charged The arrest of Zajdel comes after a joint investigation between the Urbana Police Department and the Hopkinsville Police Department, based in Hopkinsville, KY. This investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional charges may be considered as evidence continues to be reviewed. According to Urbana Police, because of the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information is being released at this time.
