SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A woman charged in connection with a deadly Sioux Falls shooting plans to plead guilty.
Police arrested Savannah Lee Randle, 33, following a shooting in Aug. 2024 involving juveniles and a stolen gun inside her home on West 7th Street.

The 911 caller said one of the teens shot himself, but detectives later determined that wasn't the case.
Court documents say a teenager was playing with a stolen 9mm handgun, when it went off and sent a bullet into another teenager's head.
Randle initially faced a dozen felony charges, including child abuse and accessory to a felony.
On Monday, she's scheduled to plead guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and misprision of a felony, which are both misdemeanors.
In exchange for her guilty plea, all of the felony charges will be dismissed. Her petition to plead guilty says she could face one year behind bars for each of the charges.
Police also arrested a juvenile in connection with the deadly shooting, but authorities haven't released information on that case because of the suspect's age.

Family prepares for end of life for woman severely injured in 2022 Portage Park triple murder

CHICAGO (WGN) — The family of a woman severely injured in a shooting more than two and a half years ago is preparing for the end of her life. In 2022, Mariah Vera was celebrating her 25th birthday at the Vera Lounge—her family's bar in the Northwest Side neighborhood of Portage Park. At about 2:30 in the morning, a man opened fire following a fight at the bar. Vera's father, Ricky, and two others—26-year-old Mario Pozuelos and 24-year-old Mercedes Tavares—were killed by the gunman. Mariah Vera was trying to save her father's life when the gunman walked up and shot her point-blank in the head, shattering part of her skull. Her family said they remained hopeful for her to recover, but doctors told them her condition has deteriorated in the other direction. A GoFundMe page has been established to help her family cover medical expenses. Samuel Parsons-Salas, a 32-year-old man, faces three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated battery and one count of kidnapping in connection with the gruesome shooting. MORE INFO: No bail for man charged in Portage Park triple murder Court records show Parsons-Salas was released from prison last September, four years after he reached a plea deal with prosecutors in a 2009 double murder in the Albany Park neighborhood. DC mayor explains trip to Martha's Vineyard as Trump ramps up federal law enforcement presence

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) said she left her city Thursday amid President Trump's crackdown and police takeover because she needed to pick her 7-year-old daughter up from camp, emphasizing she was in control the whole time. Bowser's exit, reportedly to Martha's Vineyard, had drawn widespread attention, including from the president, who posted on social media about her going to the island off Massachusetts known as a vacation hot spot and liberal enclave. 'I am in constant contact with my senior team and have been in constant consultation with our partners throughout a short swing out of the District,' Bowser said on social media, adding that she had already canceled a family vacation in order to manage the city's response. Bowser, who has not publicly discussed where she went, said she would return Friday. The White House has escalated its attempted federal takeover by attempting Thursday to essentially install the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration as the District's police chief. Bowser and other city officials have contended the administration does not have that power. Federal law enforcement agents and National Guard personnel have ramped up their presence over the week, including in traffic-heavy areas such as the National Mall and Union Station. The president says he is attempting to combat crime in the city, but Democrats have characterized the moves as a test case for potential assertions of power in other blue urban areas in the future. Bowser is also seeking to avoid the kind of firestorms faced by other big-city mayors who were caught out of their cities during times of crisis. In January, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) faced sharp criticism for being in Ghana during the first days of what would become devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.
