The Citizen3 days ago
On July 7, Acting Executive Mayor Kenny Kunene, along with members of the MMC and various city entities, led Operation Kunakisa, a high impact service delivery programme, into Region B.
The programme started along Noble Road, Industria, where they found two warehouses, one cutting wooden material and another manufacturing blankets, both with illegal electricity connections.

They also apprehended 10 foreign nationals hiding in the buildings, as well three Chinese nationals, one female and two males, said to own the blanket manufacturing warehouse, as, at the time, none of them had any form of identification on them.
'We're targeting buildings that are non-compliant,' Kunene said sternly. 'We're also apprehending any foreigner that does not have papers.'
The following videos show the extent to which Kunene is willing to let this operation go, with Kunene entering the wood cutting warehouse fiercely, seeking the owner of the property, another where he questions the three foreign Chinese nationals, and another that shows the dramatic apprehension of one of the individuals found hiding in one the warehouses.
This operation is ongoing, with more buildings to be attended to in such a manner.

Khutsong family traumatised after armed robbery and teen's disappearance

A family from Khutsong Extension 6 experienced a terrifying ordeal in the early hours of Monday, July 7, when armed robbers stormed into their home, assaulted them, and kidnapped their 14-year-old son. According to a reliable source, the family was asleep in their electricity-starved home—an area that has been without power for over a week—when they were abruptly awakened by a loud noise at around 01:00. Moments later, three men wearing balaclavas and speaking Sesotho forced their way inside. Armed with a 9mm pistol and a rifle, the intruders demanded money, quickly seizing all the cash in the house. The parents were then forced to lie face-down on their bed at gunpoint while the robbers searched the home. The assailants stole several valuables, including cellphones, one of which belonged to a neighbour who had left it there for charging. They also took the keys to the family's black VW Polo, which had Lesotho number plates. As the ordeal unfolded, the family reported hearing gunshots. When the parents got up to investigate, they found their vehicle missing—and their 14-year-old son had vanished. By the time of publication, the teenager had still not been located, and the police investigation is ongoing. At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention.
