WeMindTheGap, which supports young people who have fallen through the gaps, has been nominated for a Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) Award.
The CSJ Awards seek out the top charities nationwide, highlighting those that excel in innovation and effectiveness in the fight against poverty. The diverse panel of judges includes Akshata Murty, Rachel Riley and past CSJ Award winners along with experts from various sectors that come together to select the winners.

The awards celebrate the best of the small charity sector who are providing innovative policy solutions to address the root causes of poverty across the UK.
WeMindTheGap gives new opportunities to young people 11-25yrs who deserve better. It fills the gaps in young people's lives, supporting them into employment, education, and independent lives. The charity's life changing programmes give under-served young people, paid work, mentoring, skills, confidence and connections.
Ali Wheeler, CEO of WeMindtheGap, said: "We are thrilled to have been chosen as a finalist in the 2025 CSJ Awards recognising the work we do to support young people who have fallen through the gaps in life, it is recognition that the young people we have the privilege to walk alongside matter, are seen and heard, and will give them more opportunities to influence their lives and futures generations."

Andy Cook, CEO of the Centre for Social Justice, added: "While Westminster is in chaos and the rest of the world in convulsions, there's an army of small charities in some of our most challenged communities picking up the pieces and solving real-life problems.
"The CSJ Awards are the Oscars of the small charity sector, celebrating the best of the best of those unsung heroes.
"We are proud to announce our 12 2025 finalists. We will be announcing the five winners at our glittering CSJ Awards ceremony in the heart of Westminster this November."

Rachel Riley MBE, co-presenter of Countdown, said: "It's a real pleasure to be back on the CSJ Awards Judging Panel for the second consecutive year! Yet again, this year's finalists have blown us away. The panel had a lively, three-hour debate, and I am confident that the winners are going to make a difference with the money, recognition and contacts that becoming a CSJ Award Winner brings.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting all the finalists in Westminster this November - they all deserve to be celebrated."

A street cleaner who goes "above and beyond" to keep York city centre tidy has received a national Patrick, 60, has been York BID's cleaning team supervisor for seven early every morning from his home in Pontefract, he arrives in the city centre before the crowds, and cleans anything from pavements to seating areas and recognition of his dedication to the job, Chris was named Best Ambassador at the 2025 Association of Town and City Management Awards. "I was a chef before this, obviously indoors," he said."This is a lot better for me, this is what I like to do, be outside."Chris is known on his team for having a cheerful demeanour and positive outlook, even when faced with the messy side of the job."What do we clean?" he laughed."Vomit and human muck and everything like that. The proper nasty stuff." Carl Alsop, the operations manager at York BID, praised Chris for his attitude."There's not a hotel in York that wouldn't welcome Chris with a bacon sandwich - that's how far above and beyond he goes," he said."He just will not say no. He will find a solution and he will just roll up his sleeves, put his gloves on and he will tackle anything that needs tackling."That might be something very very disgusting or it might be trying his hand at gardening or painting or whatever it might be."Chris said the commute to his job was not an issue because he "loved doing it"."The people here are good, it's a great place to work," he said."I've enjoyed it so far so I'm going to keep coming until hopefully that enjoyment goes. But it won't go yet."As well as receiving the national award at a ceremony last month, Chris is a finalist in the Great Neighbour category of BBC Radio York's Make a Difference Awards."When I get an award, it's for all these other people that do things here," he said."On rejuvenation, we've got volunteers and we sometimes have 40 people on a day painting York."It's amazing and I get an award for that, so really, it's for them." 25 Powys schools awarded for promoting Welsh language

25 schools across Powys have been recognised for promoting the Welsh language. The schools earned awards as part of the Siarter Iaith/Welsh Language Charter, a national scheme that encourages the use of Welsh at school, at home and in the community. The charter operates through a three-tier award system, bronze, silver, and gold, and recognises schools for building a 'strong Welsh ethos' Schools on this year's list have taken a range of steps, including daily Welsh assemblies, and incorporating Welsh as part of playground games, and community events. Councillor Pete Roberts, cabinet member for a learning Powys, said: "We are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our schools in nurturing a love for the Welsh language. "These Siarter Iaith awards are a testament to the hard work of pupils, staff, and families who are helping to ensure that Cymraeg thrives in Powys. "We remain fully committed to supporting the Welsh Government's vision of reaching one million Welsh speakers by 2050, and the success of our schools in this programme is a vital step toward that goal. "Llongyfarchiadau i bawb." Two Welsh-medium schools achieved the gold award: Ysgol Llanbrynmair and Ysgol Glantwymyn. Ysgol Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant earned the silver award. Siarter Iaith: Cymraeg Campus is a parallel programme tailored for English-medium schools. The following schools achieved their Siarter Iaith: Cymraeg Campus awards: Gold Award Penygloddfa C.P.
