SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters' brave line-up revealed where stars swim with sharks
The brave stars taking the plunge in new reality series SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters have been revealed from Call the Midwife star Helen George to Countdown's Rachel Riley. Forget SAS: Who Dares Wins and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, celebrities will be confronting their fear of sharks on this new reality series format. To mark the major milestone of 50 years of the three-time Oscar-winning film Jaws, ocean-phobic celebrities will swim with sharks. Filmed in the shark capital of the world, AKA the Bahamas, the stars will be pushed to their limits. They will be diving with different sharks and the breeds will get more dangerous each time. The show is filmed on the Bahamas island Bimini where there are 7-10 different breeds of sharks. On the island there are Hammerheads, Bull sharks and Tiger sharks. The stars must tackle fear inducing challenges head on while learning about the important role of sharks in the ocean. Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning ITV said: "SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters promises to be a once in a lifetime challenge for some of the bravest celebrities out there." Karen Plumb, Head of Factual Entertainment, Plimsoll Productions added: "We're constantly looking for innovative approaches to wildlife storytelling and are certain that our fish-out-of-water spin — delivering 50 years after Jaws — will transform the world's perception of these critical predators before it's too late." So who are the courageous celebrities diving with sharks? Rachel Riley, 39, is best known as the co-presenter of Channel 4 show Countdown and its spin off 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. The mathematics graduate has undertaken a totally different challenge by swimming with sharks in the Bahamas. She teases on Instagram of the experience: "I'll finally be able to talk about what was a completely life changing experience. You'll wish I was still embargoed for how much I'll want to talk about it. One more sleep…!" Actor Helen George, 40, is best known for her role as Trixie in BBC show Call The Midwife but she has a new unexpected role this year. She has experimented with reality TV before, having starred on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 but this time she's heading to the Bahamas to swim with sharks. Of the experience, she says: "One of the most insane experiences of my life, learning about this incredible creatures, with equally incredible humans." McFly's Dougie Poynter, 37, is putting his bravery to the test once again. It's been more than a decade since he was crowned the king of the jungle on I'm a Me Out of Here! in 2011. Now he's stepping back into the reality TV world with a stint on SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters. As a supporter of environmental causes, he has previously released a children's book Plastic Sucks! You Can Make A Difference to raise awareness about the small changes we can make to help save the planet. Sir Lenny Henry, 66, says he keeps saying no to Strictly — so instead he said yes to diving with sharks! The British-Jamaican comedian, actor and writer has been on our screens since he was 16 years old but he has never done anything as daring as SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters before. Paralympic medalist and TV presenter Ade Adepitan, 52, has set another huge goal to achieve as he goes diving with sharks. Of the adventure, he says: "I'm buzzing to announce I'm diving into a brand new show — SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters with these legends!" Stand-up comedian and actor Ross Noble, 48, has made regular appearances on Have I Got News for You? No doubt the funnyman will be cracking jokes as he conquers the real-life fears of sharks on the new reality series. Lucy Punch, 47, is immediately recognisable as Amanda in the BBC sitcoms Motherland and Amandaland. The actor is back on our TVs soon again with an unforeseen challenge. The new series, which will coincide with 50th anniversary of Jaws, will see a bunch of famous faces, who are terrified of the sea, face their fears head on by taking a plunge surrounded by the scary predators. Filming will take place in Bimini in the Bahamas - where 7-10 different types of sharks live on the island. The celebrities who are confirmed to take part are Rachel, 39, Lucy, 47, Dougie, 37, Ade Adepitan, 52, Helen George, 40, Sir Lenny Henry, 66, and Ross Noble, 48. Meanwhile Lucy has appeared in various films and TV shows over the years. However she's arguably best known for appearing in Motherland, Amandaland. Film wise she's had roles in Hot Fuzz, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Ella Enchanted. Dougie has been part of boyband McFly since they joined forces in 2003. Some of their best songs include Five Colours in Her Hair, Obviously, Star Girl, Shine a Light and I'll Be OK. Ade is known for being a TV presenter and wheelchair basketball player. He's landed roles in Desperados, Casualty and Freight, but also presented the likes of Xchange and the Paralympic Games. The star has also won gold at the Paralympic World Cup for the Men's wheelchair basketball in 2005, as well as various other medals in the Paralympic Games and Wheelchair Basketball World Championships. Meanwhile Helen is best known for playing Trixie Franklin in Call the Midwife. She's also played characters in the likes of Hollyoaks, Hotel Babylon, The Three Musketeers and D.I Ray. Comedian Lenny has been a well-known face in the industry since the 70s. He will be joined by another funnyman Ross, who has starred in TV shows such as Have I Got News For You.

Participants also include presenter Ade Adepitan, Call The Midwife actress Helen George, comedian Ross Noble, McFly bassist Dougie Poynter and Amandaland actress Lucy Punch. ITV said that the 'group of ocean-phobic celebrities' will be heading to the Bahamas, where they will have to dive with bigger and more dangerous species of sharks. Bimini, the island where the show will be filmed, is home to around seven to 10 different types of the fish including Caribbean reef sharks, great hammerhead sharks, bull sharks and tiger sharks. The celebrities will also take part in a series of challenges as they learn the importance of sharks to oceans' ecosystems. Karen Plumb, head of factual entertainment at production company Plimsoll Productions, said: 'The team at Plimsoll is uniquely positioned to pioneer this format that blends conservation with wildly entertaining pop culture. She has previously voiced support for Bite-Back, a shark and marine conservation charity. I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! winner Poynter, 37, has previously campaigned for action on plastics to protect oceans and wildlife. He has released the book Plastic Sucks! You Can Make A Difference, and used his Instagram account to criticise the use of shark fins in medicine, and soup. According to the Natural History Museum, shark attacks fell to the lowest level in more than three decades last year, with the International Shark Attack File saying that 47 people were hurt in 'unprovoked shark attacks' in 2024.

Brit comedy legend, boyband star and Strictly contestant sign up for ITV's new SHARK attack reality show
ITV have confirmed the line-up for its new SHARK attack reality show - including a comedy legend, boyband star and Strictly contestant. Titled SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters, the programme will see a group of famous faces encountering different types of sharks. 9 9 9 9 Among those taking up the challenge will be comedy icon Sir Lenny Henry, McFly 's Dougie Poynter and Countdown star Rachel Riley. Rounding out the line-up are Ade Adepitan, Helen George, Ross Noble and Lucy Punch. These ocean-phobic stars will be tasked with diving alongside different types of shark - as breeds get bigger and bigger each time. It will air to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Oscar-winning film Jaws. Filming will take place on Bimini, an island in The Bahamas, which is home to shark types such as Hammerheads, Bull sharks and Tiger sharks. The Sun first revealed news of the jaw-dropping reality show last year. At the time, the programme was in its early stages and no one had been cast yet. SAS: Who Dares Wins and I'm A Celebrity's Bushtucker trials out the water. A source said at the time: 'Shark!
