247Sports issues Florida prediction for blue-chip defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland
The summer heat is quickly rising, and Florida football's recruiting efforts have followed the mercury on its upward trajectory on the recruiting front, having now logged 10 hard commits as of the third weekend in June.
Amidst the action, the Gators received a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports for four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland out of Birmingham (Alabama) Parker in the 2026 cycle. The 6-foot-3-inch, 3005-pound trench warrior currently holds offers from 38 different schools and is wrapping up the fourth of his five official visits.
It was Swamp247's Tyler Harden who submitted the crystal ball prediction for the Orange and Blue on Friday. Following Cleveland's OV in Gainesville at the end of May, the prep prospect told him that "Florida's still on top."
What Vodney Cleveland has said about Florida
During his official visit, the Cotton State product got an intimate view of the program, which presumably strengthened Billy Napier and Co.'s case to bring him to the Swamp.
"Being around the locker room with these guys, just feels at home," he offered. Note that the home-like family atmosphere he described follows the staff's philosophy for building relationships with prep prospects and current players alike.
As far as the coaching staff is concerned, defensive line coach Gerald Chatman has spearheaded the recruiting effort for Florida, while co-defensive coordinator Ron Roberts has also offered some assistance in mapping out how the young talent would fare in the Gators' scheme.
"(Chatman) says I'm a great fit, and a guy like Caleb Banks, Cam Jackson, all those guys," Cleveland noted.
Vodney Cleveland's official visit schedule
Cleveland has completed four of his five official visits scheduled for this summer, starting with the Auburn Tigers on May 16, Florida on May 30, the Georgia Bulldogs on June 6 and the Texas Longhorns this past weekend. He still has a stop set with the Miami Hurricanes coming up on June 20.
Vodney Cleveland's commitment date
"I would say (in) two weeks," Cleveland said after the visit over two weeks ago. So while there is no firm date currently set, we can expect an announcement in the very near future from Cleveland. It is quite possible that he will wait until after his visit to Coral Gables as well.
Will Harden's prediction prove correct? We will see soon enough.
Vodney Cleveland's Recruiting Summary
Cleveland is ranked No. 141 overall and No. 18 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 120 and 11, respectively. Along with 247Sports' medium crystal ball prediction, On3's recruiting prediction machine gives the Gators a 76.2% chance of landing the defensive lineman, followed by Auburn (9.5%) and Alabama (5.7%), respectively.

Flacco Offers ‘Old Man Answer' When Asked About Young Browns
Flacco Offers 'Old Man Answer' When Asked About Young Browns originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In 2024, Joe Flacco was the fifth-oldest player in the NFL, and the second-oldest quarterback. Flacco is older than the classic movie "Back to the Future," and when asked about his younger teammates and the NFL practice schedule, Flacco went back to the past for comparison. Advertisement The NFL practice schedule certainly became less grueling over the years, and Flacco has had a first-hand, front seat view to those changes over his 17-year career. But NFL practices are still a major adjustment for new players coming into the league from college, something Flacco spoke on. "Even when it got easier in like 2011, I think, everybody that was playing at that point had been through two-a-days at some point in their life," Flacco explained, per Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein. "Guys coming into the NFL now have never done it. They've never done it." Two-a-days were outlawed in the NFL in 2011 as part of that year's collective bargaining agreement, and the NCAA did away with them fully in 2017. Advertisement "We're out there for an hour and 15 minutes and guys think it's hard," Flacco added. "Our OTAs were two hours, for sure." Flacco's "back in my day" answer certainly aged the veteran, and rookies these days will never know the struggle of the NFL's previously strenuous practice schedule. The changes to the NFL's practice scheduling policies certainly benefit the players, who now have a better chance of staying healthy during the offseason and being able to maintain a now-17 game NFL schedule. On the other side, some wonder if the less strenuous practices cause teams to get off to slower starts in the season. Browns' Myles Garrett Impressed by Rookie QB
Browns' Myles Garrett Impressed by Rookie QB originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns have five quarterbacks on their roster, two of which are rookies. Those first-year guys are hoping to prove themselves in mandatory minicamp. Advertisement In a recent interview with reporters, Browns superstar Myles Garrett talked about his experience going against Dillon Gabriel, one of the team's rookies, in camp, and he had some praise for young QB. "I only really saw Dillon today as far as getting reps in team. He looks composed. He's running the offense pretty well. His eyes got pretty big when I got free and I was face up on him," Garrett said. "But all of them look pretty calm... not doing too much right now, and they'll have time to continue to display their talents. It's just one day at a time." Garrett has not had the chance to go up against Shedeur Sanders yet, who is one of the rookies that has been the most talked about in the league. But Gabriel has already impressed one of the best defensive players in the NFL. It has not yet been decided who the Browns' starting quarterback will be in Week 1 of the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals, so the job is up for grabs. Gabriel and Sanders will be hoping to prove that one of them can be the future field general of the Browns. Advertisement Cleveland has only made the playoffs twice in the last 20 years, so the team's young quarterbacks will be looking to help turn the team's luck around.
