Fights continue break out at Steelers training camp

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers joked that teammates were placing bets on who'd spark the first training camp fight — but the floodgates have certainly opened over the past two days. With the pads coming on during Wednesday's practice in Latrobe, physicality was expected — but maybe not in the way fans anticipated. WR Robert Woods and CB Joey Porter Jr. got into an altercation on the field after the veteran wideout continued to block the third-year cornerback through the whistle — and Porter took exception, with teammates coming to break up the ensuing fight. The very next day, there were two more skirmishes — both between new faces in Pittsburgh, TE Jonnu Smith and FS Juan Thornhill. It started when Smith threw a football directly at Thornhill after burning him in a one-on-one matchup. Smith then seemingly ripped off Thornhill's helmet when the Steelers safety approached, and the two began fighting — with teammates arriving quickly to break it up. Thornhill would get his revenge later on in another one-on-one matchup with Smith, breaking up a pass and jamming the football into the Steelers tight end's chest — leading to jawing and another physical altercation, broken up by teammates. Pat McAfee joked that it's far more concerning if there were zero fights at practice — and the Steelers have certainly shown a lot of heart over the past two days. Here's to hoping they can channel that same energy when it matters on Sundays, as Pittsburgh seems all in on a deep playoff run this season. Three Factors Suggest Atalanta Talisman Will Join Inter Milan Soon

Three main factors suggest that Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman will soon make the move to Inter Milan. Today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, identify the closeness in negotiations, the good relationship between Inter and Atalanta, and the player's strong desire for the move. This is likely to be the decisive day in Inter Milan's pursuit of Ademola Lookman. The Nerazzurri made their second offer for the Nigerian international earlier this week. They upped their bid from €40 million to €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons. Atalanta have not yet given Inter a formal response. But they will give the Nerazzurri their answer today. However, Tuttosport note, even then the distance between the Nerazzurri's bid and Atalanta's counteroffer would be no more than a couple million euros. Furthermore, the newspaper consider, the rapport between Inter and Atalanta is solid. Therefore, talks will hardly be difficult or acrimonious. Finally, Tuttosport note, the fact that Lookman only wants to join Inter and has been pushing his club on the move makes the transfer all the more likely.

Rees-Zammit to return to rugby after NFL dream ends

Wales winger Louis Rees-Zammit said on Friday he was returning to rugby union after giving up on his attempt to break into the NFL. Rees-Zammit spent last season with Jacksonville Jaguars having been cut by the Kansas City Chiefs the previous campaign, but failed to make an NFL appearance for either franchise as a wide receiver. The 24-year-old had originally made the move across the sports by joining the NFL's International Player Pathway Program in 2024. "It's been a great experience but it's time to come home," Rees-Zammit said on social media. "I've decided that this is the best time to make this decision to give myself time to get everything in place for next season," he added. The former British and Irish Lions speedster did not disclose which club he would be playing for in the coming campaign. Struggling Wales' next game is against Argentina on November 9 as they eye a first Test win at home since August 2023. "There's only one thing that's on my mind, that's coming back to rugby and doing what I do best," Rees-Zammit said. "There'll be more news to come soon," he added. The Welsh Rugby Union gave Rees-Zammit's announcement a tongue-in-cheek response, posting on social media: "We hope you make it back in time for selection... but if you don't" with a link to the ticketing website. bur-iwd/gj
