Sharing the company's plans, Rolls-Royce Senior Vice President - Defence (India and South-East Asia), Abhishek Singh said with its strong legacy in India, the firm is looking forward to strengthening its in-country capabilities alongside the strong framework for bilateral collaboration set out by the CETA and the UK-India Vision 2035 roadmap.
"We are exploring potential opportunities to set up an MRO for the AE2100 engine operated by the Indian Air Force, and to further scale the partnership for assembly and testing for the multi-role transport aircraft (MTA) programme," he added.

Singh further said Rolls-Royce sees India not just as a growth market, but as a strategic partner for co-development, innovation and capability-building.
"This next chapter, under the defence industrial roadmap, is about creating the right frameworks to deepen a partnership built on trust, talent, and technology," he added.
Rolls-Royce had recently announced its intent to double its sourcing from India over the next five years. The company is exploring expansion of its supply chain base in India across its verticals, including for complex aero engine parts, in line with India's strategic focus on greater participation in global supply chains.
The company also aims to bring more of its global technical expertise closer to the point of need, while also engaging and nurturing the local talent and supplier ecosystems, through its collaborative partnerships in India.
Welcoming the India-UK CETA, Singh said, "We see this as a launchpad for future growth with our Indian partners across both defence and civil aerospace."

UK-based retail giant Tesco plans to set up a new distribution centre in Karnataka, creating 15,000 additional jobs, Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil said on Wednesday. UK engineering major Rolls-Royce is also exploring fresh investments in the state, he said, adding that the government would expedite all necessary processes to facilitate the company's plans, his office said in a release. Patil made the announcement while addressing a reception hosted on Tuesday by the British Deputy High Commission to mark the signing of the IndiaUnited Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The pact is projected to boost bilateral trade by about Euro 25 billion annually and help double trade volumes to nearly Euro 90 billion by 2030. The FTA would pave the way for duty-free access for 99 per cent of India's exports to the UK and 90 per cent of UK exports to India. This would mean more affordable products, greater market access for businesses, and a surge in commerce benefiting consumers and industries in both countries, he said. Patil noted that leading British firms such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Tesco, ARM, HSBC, and Aviva already have a strong presence in Bengaluru and across Karnataka, collectively employing nearly 30,000 people in the state. He said the FTA would enable UK companies to scale up investments in Karnataka and urged them to leverage the state's technology capabilities, infrastructure, and industry-friendly policies. The government will respond proactively to those keen on investing, he assured. According to the minister's office, the event was attended by Harjinder Singh, UK Trade Commissioner; Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner; and other dignitaries.

He also spoke on rising trade tensions, saying Washington's recent tariffs on Indian goods are part of a broader pressure tactic. "I think it's a strategic mistake on the part of the US that you are getting into bed with Pakistan, which is in bed with China. "Now they are meeting in Alaska on 15th August. If there is a positive outcome of the Alaska talks then I am 100% sure that the Russia sanctions will be off the table because Putin is not going to accept a ceasefire and yet be saddled with economic sanctions," he said.

Cabinet nod to Rs 514 cr project for solid waste management in city
Patna: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the govt proposal to make arrangements at Ramchak Beria on private public partnership (PPP) mode for scientific processing and disposal of solid waste collected from 13 urban local bodies of Patna. The project would cost Rs 514.58 crore, and there is also a proposal to produce 15 MW of electricity. The 13 urban local bodies from which solid waste would be collected for processing and disposal at Ramchak Beria are Patna, Danapur, Fatuha, Khagaul, Phulwarisharif, Sampatchak, Maner, Masaurhi, Bihta, Bakhtiarpur, Naubatpur, Punpun and Khusrupur. It is for the first time that Centre has decided to grant Rs 154.38 crore under its social infrastructure project to any state for solid waste management through its viability gap funding (VGF) project. The remaining amount would be met by the state govt from its ring fence account. As per the cabinet note prepared by the urban development and housing department, the suitable equipment would be installed at the Ramchak Beria site for the processing and disposal of 1,600 tonnes of solid waste collected per day. The equipment to be installed includes the one for the production of 15 MW power. The cabinet also cleared the revised estimate worth Rs 292.74 crore to meet the cost of construction of a flyover to link the Mithapur and Chiraiyatand flyovers in Patna. The cabinet also gave its sanction to the revised estimate of Rs 82.98 crore required for the construction of a cable suspension bridge near the existing railway bridge at Punpun 'pindsthal' in the Patna district.
