Stylish Hair, Smooth-Running Motorcycles, All For Free At Kelantan PMR 2025

KOTA BHARU, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Feeling like going to an auto workshop or the barbers? Just drop by the Kelantan MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, where visitors can not only change their motorcycle engine oil, but also emerge with a new stylish haircut, all free of charge.
On average, visitors described this initiative as evidence of the government's genuine concern for the needs of the people, notably the low-income group who are increasingly squeezed by the pressure of the cost of living.
Mohd Siaful Muizuddin, 33, for one, said he was satisfied with the quality of the engine oil lubricant used, even though the service was provided for free.
'Many free services that truly meet the needs of the people are provided in this programme, including black (engine) oil change. Interestingly, the products used are of very good quality, like those used in motorcycle workshops.
'Usually, the cost of changing lubricant oil reaches RM18 to RM20. This shows that the services offered are not just symbolic, but truly beneficial,' he told Bernama at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium compound, here today.
The lubricant oil change service is operated by 15 trainees and instructors from two Giat MARA institutions in Kelantan, with a target of 100 motorcycles per day.
A Giat MARA Prima Melor trainee, Shahrul Rosli, 21, said that while helping ease the burden of the people, the programme also gives him a chance to gain real-world experience.
'I have just completed a course in motorcycle technology, and this service has been the best practical training for me before opening my own workshop,' he said.
Meanwhile, the free haircut service conducted by eight trained members from the Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA) also received a warm welcome among visitors of all ages.

Pahang KMJG 2025 convoy completes 539.9km patriotic journey

KUANTAN: The Pahang-level Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy successfully wrapped up its three-day expedition, spanning 539.9 kilometres across five districts. Pahang Information Department (JAPEN) director Rohani Chik highlighted the programme's ability to attract diverse participants for National Month celebrations. 'Along every route, people of all ages showed their support in various ways. Some honked their vehicle horns, while students waited outside schools waving the Jalur Gemilang. 'This is a testament to the spirit of patriotism, which transcends age,' she told Bernama. Rohani added that the team handed over the KMJG 2025 Jalur Gemilang to Federal Territories JAPEN director Sabarudin Yeop Hamza for the next leg in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. 'I was informed by the Federal Territories JAPEN director that an estimated 100 participants will take part in the KMJG in Kuala Lumpur. Participants include government agencies, motorcycle club, the MADANI Community, and others,' she said. Earlier reports confirmed 25 high-powered motorcycles from Daz Bikers Motorcycle Club and 13 government vehicles joined the Pahang-level KMJG 2025, involving over 100 participants. - Bernama

East-West Highway upgrades a priority under Budget 2026, says Nanta

KUALA KANGSAR: The East-West Highway, particularly the Gerik-Jeli stretch, is among the key priorities for the Works Ministry under Budget 2026, minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi says. He said the ministry has submitted a funding request to upgrade several sections of the route, citing urgent safety needs. However, the exact allocation will depend on the government's final decision. "It's not a special allocation, we've included it under regular funding requests for the highway," he told reporters after the official opening of the Sultan Muzzaffar Shah Bridge at Dataran Manong here on Thursday (Aug 14). Earlier, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah officially inaugurated the bridge. Also present were Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, his wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, as well as Public Works director-general Datuk Roslan Ismail. As part of ongoing safety measures along the JRTB, Nanta said 385 solar-powered streetlights have been installed in high-risk areas and dangerous bends, commonly known as 'black spots'. "These are not for the entire highway, only for critical sections identified through our assessments," he said, adding that damaged guardrails, signboards and road markings are also being repaired or replaced. Nanta also announced the launch of the MYJalan mobile app, which aims to enable the public to report road damage and submit feedback directly to the ministry. "Perak has been chosen as the first state to launch the MYJalan initiative, reflecting our commitment to public feedback and road safety," he said. He added that the highway's condition had been a concern since the start of his tenure and described the highway as not only a vital interstate link but also a key part of the country's road development history. Data collected via the app, he noted, has already supported federal funding requests, leading to repair and upgrade works along the East-West Highway and other federal roads in Perak. - Bernama
