Zahid urges Umno members to bury the hatchet for GE16 win

PASIR SALAK: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on party members to put aside past disputes and unite for victory in the 16th General Election (GE16). Zahid who is also deputy prime minister referenced the rivalry between former Umno Supreme Council member and Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Pasir Salak Umno division chief Khairul Azwan Harun. Speaking at the Felcra Berhad Interim Dividend Declaration 1/2025 ceremony in Seberang Perak, he said that unity was key to electoral success. He joked that applause from the audience might have been louder if a proposal to relocate GiatMARA in Pasir Salak had come from Tajuddin rather than Khairul Azwan. "Perhaps the applause was less enthusiastic because it was Azwan Bro (Khairul Azwan) who made the request. If it had come from Tajuddin, it might have been louder. But that does not matter, I will ensure both reconcile for the sake of the constituency and its two state seats. What's past is past. We move forward. As a Perak son, Insya Allah, we can achieve victory if we build unity," he said. Both Tajuddin and Khairul Azwan were present at the event, along with Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang and Felcra CEO Datuk Idris Lasim. The rivalry between Tajuddin and Khairul Azwan dates back to June 2023, when Tajuddin reportedly demanded an apology over alleged sabotage during the 15th General Election (GE15). Zahid, who is also the current Pasir Salak MP, confirmed his approval of Khairul Azwan's proposal to relocate the GiatMARA training centre from Kampung Gajah to Ulu Dedap. "I have agreed to relocate the centre to a new site with courses tailored to local needs, including machinery and agricultural equipment repair," he added.

Stylish Hair, Smooth-Running Motorcycles, All For Free At Kelantan PMR 2025

KOTA BHARU, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Feeling like going to an auto workshop or the barbers? Just drop by the Kelantan MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, where visitors can not only change their motorcycle engine oil, but also emerge with a new stylish haircut, all free of charge. On average, visitors described this initiative as evidence of the government's genuine concern for the needs of the people, notably the low-income group who are increasingly squeezed by the pressure of the cost of living. Mohd Siaful Muizuddin, 33, for one, said he was satisfied with the quality of the engine oil lubricant used, even though the service was provided for free. 'Many free services that truly meet the needs of the people are provided in this programme, including black (engine) oil change. Interestingly, the products used are of very good quality, like those used in motorcycle workshops. 'Usually, the cost of changing lubricant oil reaches RM18 to RM20. This shows that the services offered are not just symbolic, but truly beneficial,' he told Bernama at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium compound, here today. The lubricant oil change service is operated by 15 trainees and instructors from two Giat MARA institutions in Kelantan, with a target of 100 motorcycles per day. A Giat MARA Prima Melor trainee, Shahrul Rosli, 21, said that while helping ease the burden of the people, the programme also gives him a chance to gain real-world experience. 'I have just completed a course in motorcycle technology, and this service has been the best practical training for me before opening my own workshop,' he said. Meanwhile, the free haircut service conducted by eight trained members from the Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA) also received a warm welcome among visitors of all ages.
