Frustrated Prabhas fan wants to sue Vishnu Manchu after watching Kannappa: ‘Where is Shiva, why are you showing heroism'
Mukesh Kumar Singh's Vishnu Manchu-starrer Kannappa was released in theatres on Friday to mixed reviews. The film received criticism for its first half, while most people on X (formerly Twitter) seem to have liked the second half. However, a frustrated Prabhas fan who spoke to IndiaGlitz wants to sue Vishnu after watching the film. (Also Read: Kannappa Twitter reviews: Vishnu Manchu's film has 'worst VFX since Adipurush' but movie 'peaks' with Prabhas' entry) Prabhas plays Rudra in Vishnu Manchu's devotional film Kannappa.
In a video uploaded by the website, the Prabhas fan can be seen fuming after watching Kannappa. He said, 'I will file a case against him (Vishnu) for giving false information. What did he say in the press? Where is Shiva in the first half? I am a Prabhas fan, and I came here after watching the Bhakta Kannappa movie.' His biggest gripe, however, seemed to be that Kannappa wasn't like the 1976 film Bhakta Kannappa, which starred Prabhas' uncle Krishnam Raju.
He said, 'His family gave you the rights to make this film. If it's your dream project, you can't change the film however you want. He gave false information in the trailer and in the press. When you promoted the movie as Bhakta Kannappa, why are you showing your heroism? Show the devotion instead. We came for Prabhas and watched him for 20 minutes in the second half; that's enough.'
Even as the fan raged, another person pointed out in the video that they weren't even a fan of Vishnu, but that the film was good. One person commented under the video, 'Babu disclaimer chudakunda cinema ni elaa tappu battaali ane pani lo unnattunnaadu!! @themohanbabu antha base voice lo cheppaaru ga, Bhakta Kannappa story ni research chesi dani aadharam tho rasukunna kalpitha kadha ani. (You are just looking for fault without paying attention to the disclaimer. Mohan Babu says at the beginning of the film that they researched the story of Bhakta Kannappa and made this fictional film)' About Kannappa

Kannappa box office collection day 1 early report: Vishnu Manchu's dream project scores career-high opening
Kannappa box office collection day 1 early report: Actor Vishnu Manchu's long-anticipated dream project Kannappa finally hit theatres on Friday. Featuring Vishnu in the titular role, the film also stars heavyweights like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal in prominent roles. Leading up to the release, Vishnu undertook a spiritual tour of the 12 Jyotirlingas and emphasised in multiple interviews that Kannappa is not a mythological drama, but a significant chapter from Indian history. However, early reactions suggest that audiences may not entirely share his conviction. As of 8 pm on release day, the film has earned Rs 6.5 crore at the box office, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. While this is the highest opening for a Vishnu Manchu film, it falls short of expectations for a project of this scale—especially one shot over eight months in New Zealand with a crew of more than 800 people. Despite the presence of Prabhas and Mohanlal, the film has not generated the kind of frenzy typically associated with their solo releases. The movie recorded a varied occupancy across languages: 50.45% in Telugu, 16.06% in Tamil, 13.63% in Kannada, 9.53% in Hindi, and just 5.80% in Malayalam. The film has been released across 2,079 screens in India, distributed as follows: 1,081 in Telugu, 522 in Hindi, 294 in Malayalam, 131 in Tamil, and 51 in Kannada. Also Read | Kannappa movie review: Vishnu Manchu's ambition cannot fully save this tediously long saga Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa opened alongside Maa, a horror drama starring Kajol. Promoted as part of Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan universe, Maa managed to collect Rs 3.21 crore by 8 pm across 2,462 shows—383 more than Kannappa. The movie opened to mixed reviews on Friday. A part of SCREEN's review read, 'Kannappa is about the trials of faith and how a non-believer sheds his arrogance to embrace personal transformation – so, when the screenplay (also credited to Vishnu) does come to its own for a brief while, it throws up a few pleasant surprises that salvage an otherwise turgid retelling of mythology.'

Rupali Ganguly SLAMS Diljit Dosanjh Amid Border 2 Row: ‘No Room For Confused Loyalties'
Last Updated: Rupali Ganguly slams Diljit Dosanjh's casting in Border 2 over Hania Aamir row, says 'No room for confused loyalties in a film about national pride.' The controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh continues to escalate following the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, which is set to release overseas but not in India. The decision has triggered a strong backlash from sections of the Indian film industry and nationalist groups, who are now urging filmmakers to drop Diljit from the highly anticipated war drama Border 2. Among the latest voices to weigh in is television star Rupali Ganguly, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her displeasure over the ongoing situation. In a strongly worded post, she wrote, 'Border was a film that evoked deep patriotism among the people of our nation. It's truly disheartening and frustrating to see an actor in #Border2 who fails to recognize his responsibilities towards the country. Kudos to the makers for showing clarity and conviction by dropping that actor from the film. A film that celebrates our soldiers and national pride must reflect that spirit in every aspect. No room for confused loyalties in a film about national pride. JAI HIND 🇮🇳." Border was a film that evoked deep patriotism among the people of our nation. It's truly disheartening and frustrating to see an actor in #Border2 who fails to recognize his responsibilities towards the country. Kudos to the makers for showing clarity and conviction by dropping…— Rupali Ganguly (@TheRupali) June 27, 2025 Her reaction comes in the wake of a formal letter by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) addressed to Border 2 producers and lead actor Sunny Deol, calling for Dosanjh's removal. The letter praises Sunny Deol's past contributions to patriotic cinema and expresses concern over his association with Diljit. FWICE wrote, 'We write to you with the deepest respect and admiration for your longstanding service to both the Indian film industry and the nation. Your portrayal of valiant soldiers and national heroes in iconic films like Border, Gadar, and Indian has not only entertained but profoundly inspired generations." It further read, 'Your commitment as a public representative further stands as a testament to your patriotic values and unwavering dedication to the country. It is in this light that we express our grave concern regarding your association with Mr Diljit Dosanjh in the forthcoming film Border 2." The letter directly referenced Hania Aamir's past remarks, 'Mr Dosanjh's recent professional choice to cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir—who has openly posted anti-India content on her social media platforms, especially in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack—has deeply disturbed the sentiments of our industry and the wider national community. Your esteemed presence in a film titled Border 2, which symbolises national pride and sacrifice, alongside someone who has chosen professional ambition over patriotism, sends a conflicting and distressing message to the very public that has always viewed you as a symbol of nationalism." However, in a contrasting update, a source close to the production of Border 2 told Hindustan Times that there are no plans to replace Diljit Dosanjh, 'There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. His casting was confirmed nearly nine months ago, long before the recent unfortunate incidents. Nearly half the film has already been shot, and any replacement at this stage would be logistically unfeasible." As the debate rages on, industry insiders speculate whether the production team of Border 2, which includes Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, will issue an official statement. First Published:
