Explosions shake Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine

Saba Yemen2 days ago
Kyiv – SABA:
Several explosions were heard in the Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine on Saturday evening, with no reports of injuries or material damage.
Ukrainian media reported the sounds of multiple explosions in the region, prompting a nationwide air raid alert across Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the 'Voyennoye Delo' Telegram channel previously reported the destruction of a Patriot missile battery in Kyiv, resulting in explosions that caused significant losses to the capital's air defenses.
Last night, Kyiv experienced a series of explosions, which local media later confirmed were part of intense attacks targeting 'Zhuliany' Airport.
The 'Russian Spring Correspondents' channel on Telegram said the airport was attacked by 'a massive swarm of combat drones.'
These developments follow recent remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding Russian military strikes on targets within Ukraine.

Maariv: Majority of Gaza envelope residents feel unsafe, plan to leave

Occupied Quds – SABA: A public opinion poll published on Sunday by the Israeli newspaper Maariv revealed that an overwhelming majority of residents in the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip (the so-called 'Gaza Envelope') feel unsafe and have growing doubts about Israel's deterrence capabilities nearly two years into the ongoing war. 70% of respondents believe Israeli deterrence toward Gaza is either 'weak' or 'very weak.' 78% of residents say they feel no sense of security in the area due to ongoing hostilities and instability. 63% said that the return of Israeli captives held in Gaza is essential to restoring their sense of security. A staggering 93% believe that the current security policies are failing to eliminate the threats emanating from Gaza. 30.4% of residents are considering or planning to migrate from the area due to the deteriorating security situation. 77% of respondents said they do not trust the Israeli media, accusing it of downplaying threats and whitewashing the harsh reality. 76.8% expressed no trust in the Israeli government. 56% distrust Shin Bet (Shabak), the internal security agency. 45.5% said they have lost trust in the Israeli army. These findings come just days after the Israeli government announced it would allow Gaza Envelope residents to return to their towns for the first time since October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led attacks triggered the current phase of conflict. BRICS Summit calls for full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza; Hamas welcomes statement

Rio de Janeiro – SABA: Leaders of the BRICS nations, convening in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, issued a strong call for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for further negotiations to end the ongoing war. In their joint final communiqué, the BRICS leaders also: Stressed the necessity of the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Condemned violations of international humanitarian and international law, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare in the Gaza Strip. Hamas Responds In a statement received by SABA News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomed the BRICS declaration, saying: 'We commend the final statement of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, especially its call for a ceasefire in Gaza, the withdrawal of the occupation army, and its condemnation of war crimes and the use of starvation against civilians.' Hamas further urged BRICS nations and the international community to: Exert pressure on the Israeli government to comply with international law. End the aggression and genocide against innocent civilians. Lift the illegal siege imposed on over 2.25 million Palestinians in Gaza. The summit is being held in Brazil over two days (Sunday and Monday) and brings together key member states — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — alongside newly joined or participating countries in an expanded BRICS format. The war in Gaza has dominated much of the agenda amid growing global calls for accountability and an end to the Israeli assault. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)

Israeli Occupation injures six Palestinians—Three shot, three assaulted—in Occupied West Bank

Nablus – SABA: Three Palestinian youths were injured by live bullets on Sunday evening during an Israeli military raid on the eastern area of Nablus city in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, a 16-year-old was shot in the abdomen and hand, another 16-year-old was shot in the hand, and a 15-year-old was shot in the thigh during the incursion into the Tel area of Askar New Camp east of the city. Meanwhile, two residents from Tulkarm refugee camp were assaulted and injured by Israeli forces while passing near the Annab military checkpoint east of Tulkarm city. The Palestinian Red Crescent stated that its medical teams treated the two individuals, who suffered moderate injuries from a direct physical assault, and transferred them to Thabet Thabet Government Hospital for treatment. The Annab checkpoint has recently witnessed heightened Israeli military measures, including intensified searches, frequent detentions of civilians and their vehicles, as well as ongoing physical assaults and provocations—all part of the escalating aggression in Tulkarm governorate and its refugee camps. In a related development, Israeli forces also stormed the city of Hebron on Sunday evening, arresting a young man after beating him. Local sources reported that the forces raided the Jabal al-Rahma area, where they detained Rafe' Dweik after physically assaulting him. Several other youths were temporarily detained and beaten before being released. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
