Dar opens two initiatives at London HC
These initiatives fulfil the commitment made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in April 2025, marking a significant step towards efficient, transparent, and accessible governance for Pakistanis abroad.
The Land Record Services, developed through collaboration between the Punjab Land Revenue Authority (PLRA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, enable British Pakistanis to remotely access and manage property records in Punjab without the need to travel to Pakistan.
This digital platform offers services such as online sale deeds, Fard (Record of Rights), e-Girdawari, mutation entries, and document attestation, all secured by blockchain technology to ensure transparency and prevent fraud.
A dedicated Land Services Desk at the Pakistan High Commission in London will support the pilot phase, with plans to expand to other Pakistani consulates in the United Kingdom.
Concurrently, the One Window Passport Processing System, implemented by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (IMPASS), streamlines passport application procedures by consolidating multiple steps into a single, efficient counter. This system reduces processing time to approximately 10 minutes per application, enhancing convenience, reducing congestion, and ensuring greater transparency for British Pakistanis.
In his remarks, Dar described these initiatives as 'a digital leap towards safeguarding diaspora rights and fostering investment.' He commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Punjab Land Revenue Authority, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), and the Pakistan High Commission in London for their dedication to realising the government's vision of innovative, responsive, and efficient services for overseas Pakistanis.

Poland agrees to boost employment opportunities for Pakistani workers
The governments of Pakistan and Poland have agreed to strengthen cooperation to create employment opportunities for Pakistani workers and expand labour mobility between the two countries. The development came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Polish Ambassador to Pakistan, Maciej Pisarski. The discussion focused on bilateral relations and proposals to provide employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Poland, read a statement on Thursday. During the meeting, Salik stated that over the past year, Pakistan exported products worth $450 million to Poland in the sectors of textiles, leather, and sports. The Polish envoy expressed condolences for the loss of life and property due to recent floods in various areas of Pakistan. 'He also indicated that there are employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Poland, and that stringent measures have been taken to curb illegal immigration,' he said. It was learnt that Poland's Foreign Minister will visit Pakistan in October, during which several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed. Salik Hussain noted that in one year, 742,000 Pakistanis went abroad for employment, and that Pakistan ranks fourth worldwide in exporting its workforce. He informed the Polish envoy that strong actions have been taken to prevent illegal immigration. Pilot projects with Korea and Japan to employ Pakistanis are progressing successfully. During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation to provide employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Poland. The Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE) and the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) registered 727,381 workers for overseas employment in 2024, according to The Economic Survey 2024-25. According to BE&OE, more than 62% (452,562) of Pakistani workers moved to Saudi Arabia for employment, followed by Oman (11%), to earn a living. UAE employed 64,130 Pakistani workers (9%) while Qatar offered jobs to 40,818 individuals (6%). Bahrain and Malaysia hosted 25,198 workers (3%) and 5,790 workers (1%), respectively.

Pakistan, China pledge to uphold friendship for regional peace, stability
Pakistan and China have agreed to maintain their friendship, emphasizing that it was significant for maintaining regional peace and stability. This was reaffirmed in the 6th round of Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad today between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of Pakistan-China relations and discussed important regional and global issues, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement today. Both the ministers also exchanged in-depth views on multiple facets of bilateral cooperation including CPEC 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties. 'Underlining the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China, DPM/FM and FM Wang Yi agreed that Pakistan-China friendship is significant for maintaining regional peace and stability and also indispensable for progress and prosperity of the two countries,' said the FO. The press release said that the two sides also agreed to continue close coordination and communication, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums. Yi is visiting Pakistan for the first time since India's cross-border attack in May. He met with Field Marshal Munir in Beijing a few weeks prior, which is thought to have strengthened the 'ironclad' connection between Beijing and Islamabad. On August 18, the 10th Round of Pakistan-China Bilateral Consultations on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament was held in Beijing wherein the two sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on issues related to global and regional peace and security.

Pakistan and China reaffirm their cooperation
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan to attend the 6th round of Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue today (Tuesday) in what marks his second visit to Pakistan in three years. He was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The two parties spoke on the full range of Pakistan-China relations and further examined regional and global issues.
