Flanked by hundreds of supporters, Sarangi, upon her arrival said the delegation had a clear mandate from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assert India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and explain the strategic shift in the country's security doctrine.
'In our interactions, we made it clear that neither we will forget the massacre of the innocents in Pahalgam by terrorists nor forgive those involved in it,' Sarangi said.
The MP also said that India's strikes during Operation Sindoor were precise, measured and non-escalatory in nature. India now operates under a 'New Normal' of zero tolerance and immediate response, she said.
Sarangi also dismissed Opposition's call for a special session of Parliament to discuss Operation Sindoor. 'There is no need for a special session of Parliament as the delegations that went around the world had members from all political parties,' she said. Her team had MPs from five different parties including TMC, Congress, CPM and JDU.

Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vijay Shah faced calls for resignation in the assembly from the opposition Congress over his controversial remarks on Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi as he rose to reply to a question in the house. Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh High Court rebuked Mr. Shah for passing 'scurrilous' remarks and using 'language of the gutters' against Col. Qureshi and ordered police to file an FIR against him on the charge of promoting enmity and hatred. After drawing severe condemnation, Mr. Shah expressed regret and said that he respects Col. Qureshi more than his sister. The top court on Monday (July 28, 2025) also questioned the apology issued by the minister and said that the word 'apology' has a meaning. The court refused to accept the apology and ordered the state government to form an SIT to investigate the matter.

‘Harassment, false allegations': Meghalaya CM's letter to Chhattisgarh counterpart on arrest of 2 Kerala nuns
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has written to his Chhattisgarh counterpart, Vishnu Deo Sai, raising concern over the arrest of two nuns from Kerala by the Chhattisgarh Police. The National People's Party president, whose coalition government in Christian-majority Meghalaya also includes the BJP, wrote that the NPP believes this to be a 'case of harassment and false allegations'. The letter asked the BJP-led Chhattisgarh government to consider revoking the case lodged against the nuns. The two nuns, Preeti Marry and Vandana Francis, and another person, Sukhman Mandavi, were arrested last Friday at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh. The FIR, registered under sections of the Chhattisgarh Religious Freedom Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, was based on a complaint by a local Bajrang Dal worker. The complaint alleged that they converted three women from Narayanpur and were attempting to traffic them. One of the three women had earlier told The Indian Express that she was threatened and assaulted by a woman associated with a right-wing outfit and forced to change her statement. In his letter, Sangma wrote that the nuns were arrested 'under allegedly false charges and pressure from right-wing groups'. 'The situation arose when the nuns were accompanying three girls from Chhattisgarh to Agra. A Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) questioned the girls, who said they didn't have tickets and were travelling at the nuns' request. The TTE alerted local activists, who then alleged the nuns were attempting to take the girls for forced religious conversion. This claim sparked a protest, and the police detained the nuns and girls based on the activists' complaint,' Sangma wrote. He requested CM Vishnu Deo Sai to ensure a fair investigation in the case, safeguard the rights of religious minorities in Chhattisgarh and consider revoking the case lodged against the nuns. 'A case has been lodged against the nuns under serious sections. We believe that this is a case of harassment and false allegations. Hence, we urge you to intervene and ensure justice. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) has also requested the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Hon'ble Home Minister Amit Shah ji to intervene in this matter,' he wrote.

Chhattisgarh court reserves order on bail plea of two Kerala nuns
A special NIA court in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Friday (August 1, 2025) reserved its order on a bail application filed by three persons including two nuns from Kerala, arrested on the charges of human trafficking and forced religious conversion. "The prosecution opposed the bail plea, submitting that the case is in its initial stage of investigation. The court has reserved its order till tomorrow (Saturday) after hearing both the parties," public prosecutor Dauram Chandravanshi told reporters. The hearing took place before Principal District and Sessions Judge (NIA court) Sirajuddin Qureshi. Nuns Preethi Mary and Vandana Francis along with Sukaman Mandavi were arrested by the railway police at the Durg railway station on July 25 following a complaint by a local Bajrang Dal functionary who accused them of forcibly converting three girls from Narayanpur and trafficking them. Defence lawyer Amrito Das said the prosecution had not asked for their custody for interrogation, and the alleged victims have been sent back to their homes. "They are all major, and have been following Christianity already, so the allegation of conversion is false," he said, citing his arguments in the court. The parents of the three women have told police that their daughters were not being taken away forcibly or fraudulently, he said. The issue of the nuns' arrest was raised by opposition parties in Parliament earlier this week. A delegation of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) from Kerala arrived in Raipur on Friday (August 1, 2025) to meet the two nun. Members of the delegation alleged that referring the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court by the Durg sessions court was a conspiracy to ensure that they did not get bail immediately.
