'These trips are not leisure tours but strategic missions to attract investments, reopen FTA talks with the EU, and sign new agreements with EFTA nations,' Farhan stated.
He added that Malaysia's trade-to-GDP ratio of 130% underscores the importance of proactive diplomacy.
The ongoing visits to Italy, France, and Brazil, including participation in the BRICS Summit, aim to strengthen bilateral ties and advocate for ASEAN interests in global governance, AI, and climate issues.

BRUSSELS: The European Union is resisting US attempts to target its digital regulations as both sides finalise a delayed trade statement, according to the Financial Times. Disagreements over 'non-tariff barriers,' including EU digital rules, are stalling the joint declaration, EU officials told the newspaper. Reuters could not independently confirm the report, and the EU, White House, and State Department have yet to comment. The statement was initially expected shortly after the July deal announcement by EU President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump. The July agreement imposed a 15% tariff on most EU goods, halving the initially proposed rate and preventing a wider trade war. Washington seeks concessions on the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA), which it claims restricts free speech and burdens US tech firms, the FT reported. The EU insists that relaxing the DSA, designed to combat illegal online content, is non-negotiable. MIC President Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran confirmed the party has held informal talks with PN, following grassroots proposals in Kedah and Penang. He stressed the discussions are open, not secret, and any final decision will prioritise the Indian community's interests. MIC is still reviewing its direction, acknowledging perceptions of weakness but insisting the party remains relevant due to its grassroots base. The final decision on possible cooperation with PN lies with the central leadership. 'Yes, there have indeed been informal discussions. We are not hiding anything. 'This is not a secret relationship, but an open one. We will determine our own direction, not anyone else,' he said at a press conference in Desaru on Saturday. Elaborating further, Vigneswaran stated that MIC is still carefully examining the party's political direction before making a final decision. He stressed that whatever decision is made will be for the good of the Indian community and the party. Vigneswaran said that despite being seen as weak, MIC remains relevant due to its grassroots base. He stressed that Malaysia's political landscape has changed, and the party must adapt to survive. While many analyses speculate about MIC's future, he said the party only trusts its grassroots.
