All govt schools in Andhra Pradesh to get facelift under P4 programme
At Moolapeta Girls' High School, which is being upgraded with CSR funds from DSR Constructions, the Minister interacted with company chairman Sudhakar Reddy and reviewed ongoing works, issuing several suggestions to officials on new building construction.
Later, at VRC School, he held a review meeting with Corporation and Education Department officials, as well as teachers.
He instructed them not to neglect school maintenance, to ensure students face no shortcomings, and to collect regular feedback from parents.
The MAUD minister also examined the modernisation design for RSR School, adopted by MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy.
Narayana said that DSR Brothers are modernising Moolapeta Girls' High School, the MP is upgrading RSR School, and more donors are coming forward.
'Our goal is to provide quality, corporate-level education free of cost to thousands of underprivileged children. Education will be the greatest asset we give them,' the MAUD minister stated.

AP bans single use plastics in secretariat from August 15
Vijayawada: In a major step towards environmental protection, the Andhra Pradesh govt has decided to ban single-use plastics in the AP secretariat building starting August 15 as part of the "Say No to Single-Use Plastic" campaign. The move is part of a larger goal to make the state entirely plastic-free by June 5, 2026. Officials say the decision is aimed at setting an example from the state's administrative hub. "The damage caused to the environment and humanity by excessive plastic use is alarming. This ban in the secretariat is the first step towards a statewide movement," said chief secretary K Vijayanand, who chaired a review meeting with department secretaries on Tuesday. The ban will cover plastic carry bags, water bottles, glasses, plates, cups, spoons, forks, phenol bottles, cans, and other environmentally harmful disposable items. The Secretariat will implement eco-friendly alternatives for official and daily use. The meeting, attended by senior officials including special chief secretary SS Rawat, MAUD chief secretary Suresh Kumar, PCB chairman Krishnaiah, and Swachhandra Corporation MD Anil Kumar Reddy, focused on strict enforcement measures. Several secretaries also joined virtually to discuss awareness campaigns and monitoring systems to ensure compliance. This initiative follows chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's directive to reduce plastic consumption and promote sustainable practices statewide. Collector asks officials not to include ineligible families in P4 programme
Be careful in selection of families under Public-Private People Partnership (P4) programme since it would defeat the ideals of the government, District Collector of Vizianagaram B.R Ambedkar directed officials. He said that the families under below poverty line should be selected to ensure their adoption by mentors who came forward to be part of the P4 programme. His words assumed significance as the officials selected nearly 62,500 families but the number had come down to 37,500 after filtration. It was observed that many government officials and staff worked casually and selected the families randomly instead of doing proper assessment about their socio-economic condition. The District Collector intervened and made many changes in the list by collecting the data from other sources. 'Right now, we have identified 37,500 golden families and our target is 50,000 families by August 15. We are hopeful that the target can be reached. Fortunately, the response from mentors is also good. The entire process of selection of mentors is being done in a transparent way. We asked officials not to force anyone to be mentor since it is to be done voluntarily after understanding the concept of P4 designed to eradicate poverty completely in the State,' said Mr. Ambedkar.
