Raja Raghuvanshi murder: Meghalaya cops visit accused Sonam's maternal home, question her kin
A team of Meghalaya police probing the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) visited the maternal house of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the victim's wife and prime accused in the case, and questioned her family members.
The investigation team arrived at Sonam's maternal house in Govind Nagar Kharcha area of the city. After the police personnel entered the house, its door was shut from inside so that nobody else gained access, eyewitnesses said.

The Meghalaya police team was at Sonam's house for around two hours, they said.
Immediately after the police team left the place, her brother Govind boarded a car and left the spot.
Talking to reporters without providing any details, Govind said the Meghalaya police made "general inquiries" from him and his family members about Sonam's behaviour.
On the reports of Sonam having long conversations with someone named Sanjay Verma on the phone before the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Govind said he had no information about this.
Raja Raghuvanshi's family has demanded that all the members of Sonam's family should undergo narco test to bring out the complete truth of the murder.
On this demand, Govind said he has "not committed any sin", but he is ready to undergo all kinds of investigation if anyone has doubts.
The Meghalaya police visited Raja Raghuvanshi's house in Sahakar Nagar on Tuesday night and recorded the statements of his family members.
Raja's elder brother Vipin Raghuvanshi said, "A three-member team of the Meghalaya police was at our house for about half an hour. They asked us questions about Sonam's behaviour. We were also asked how many days Sonam stayed at our house after marriage?" Raja's wife Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Kushwah (20) and three of Kushwah's friends - Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi - have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, during his honeymoon trip to Meghalaya.
Raghuvanshi went missing on May 23 and his mutilated body was found on June 2 in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area (also known as Cherrapunji) of East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
Sonam surrendered before the police in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district late on June 8, while four accused, including Kushwah, were arrested from different areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Raja Raghuvanshi's family is involved in the transport business. He married Sonam on May 11 in Indore and they left for Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police is probing the murder case in detail.

Delhi HC restrains infringement of Volvo trademark
The Delhi High Court has restrained the infringement of the trademark of Swedish vehicle manufacturer, Volvo . In an order dated May 30, Justice Amit Bansal further restrained two transporters from the unauthorised use of the mark for their bus services. The Swedish vehicle maker filed a plea seeking a permanent injunction against the defendants from infringing its Volvo trademark . The defendants, the plea alleged, were Udaipur-based Ganesh Motor Body Repairs, a manufacturer and fabricator that made buses nearly identical or deceptively similar to the original Volvo buses, Rishabh Bus Private Limited in Delhi, which purchased buses from the maker and lured customers for its inter-city bus services by advertising its fleet of buses as Volvo buses. Volvo said another transporter, the Bahraich-based Shanti Travels, used a motif on its grille that was nearly identical to its grille. Arguing its case, the Swedish company said its " iconic grille slash trademark " was of particular significance as its placement on the grille of any bus or other automobile signified that the automobile was originally a Volvo. "The defendants, by manufacturing, using, displaying, and advertising lookalikes of the plaintiffs' well-known products, are attempting to create an unauthorised association with the plaintiffs (Volvo group), and target customers and deceive them to believe that the plaintiffs have launched an affordable new range of products," the plea said. The court held that the defendants had dishonestly copied and created fake, replica or counterfeit products of the plaintiffs' famous products bearing the Volvo trademarks. "The defendants' attempt to use the suit trademarks is nothing but a mala fide attempt to encash on the plaintiffs' rights and amount to infringement and passing off of the suit trademarks, with a sole intention of riding piggyback on the plaintiffs' immense reputation and goodwill to achieve immense publicity, marketing and business gains," the court said. The order found a prima facie case in their favour of the Swedish maker for an ad-interim injunction. "If the actions of the defendants remain unrestrained, then the practice of using the infringing grille slash trademarks on any bus will become rampant and the exclusivity associated with the plaintiffs' buses will vanish over time," it added. The court, as a result, restrained the defendants and their agents from infringing the Volvo mark in any manner by physically using it on buses or using it for travel services till October 9, the next date of hearing.

Hezbollah rocket chief killed in Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon
An Israeli drone strike late Wednesday night killed a Hezbollah commander in the southern Lebanese town of Barish, The Times of Israel reported. The target was Yassin Izz a-Din, commander of Hezbollah's rocket artillery unit operating in the Litani River sector. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Izz a-Din was responsible for numerous rocket attacks on northern Israel during the ongoing conflict and was actively attempting to restore Hezbollah's artillery operations. The IDF described his role as a 'blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon". Hezbollah's silence amid Israel-Iran conflict Despite heightened hostilities between Israel and Iran since last week, Tehran's allied militias — particularly Hezbollah — have so far remained inactive. Hezbollah, considered one of the most powerful non-state military forces in the region, has not launched attacks on Israeli positions in southern Lebanon or issued any threats of retaliation. This absence marks a stark contrast to expectations following Israel's offensive against Iran, which many anticipated would prompt a Hezbollah response. The group's restraint follows months of Israeli military operations that reportedly decimated Hezbollah's leadership and weapons stockpiles in 2024. Former chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli strike in September 2024, after which Naim Qasem assumed leadership. Qasem has pledged loyalty to Iran and vowed Israel's defeat, but Hezbollah's current silence suggests a strategic pause, consistent with Tehran's defensive doctrine of leveraging allied groups without direct escalation. Meanwhile, the scale of Israel's recent campaign in Iran continues to grow. At least 639 people have been killed and 1,329 wounded in Israeli strikes across Iran, according to new data from Human Rights Activists, a Washington-based rights organisation. The group said the dead include 263 civilians and 154 members of Iranian security forces. Iran has not provided consistent casualty figures but said in its last update on Monday that 224 had been killed and 1,277 injured. The toll reflects the intensity of Israel's strikes following its assault on Iran's nuclear and military sites on June 13, which was launched under 'Operation Rising Lion' in response to previous Iranian threats and proxy activity.
