Who is Julian Brown? Atlanta inventor and influencer with 1.7 million followers missing after ‘under attack' post
Julian Brown, a 1.7 million-strong Instagram influencer and budding inventor from metro Atlanta, has been missing for nearly two weeks following a cryptic and alarming social media posts that suggested he felt he was in danger. Julian Brown rose to prominence for his groundbreaking invention called Plastoline—a device he claimed could convert plastic waste into usable fuels like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. The innovation caught the attention of environmentalists and tech enthusiasts alike. Brown, who had been passionate about environmental issues since his teenage years, had launched a GoFundMe campaign titled "Plastic to Fuel – Together We Will Heal Earth" with a $1 million fundraising goal to bring his invention to mass production. As of July 28, the page had raised over $18,000, with new donations still trickling in. Brown's last known communication came in the form of a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, July 9. In the video, he spoke directly to the camera: 'I'm certainly under attack... I can't go into so much detail,' he said, urging his followers to 'keep your eyes open.' He ended on a determined note: 'I'm still working. I'm still building. Nothing is going to stop that.' In a written post, Brown further alarmed fans with the message: 'Something is happening, keep me in your prayers please. SCREEN RECORD THIS. I don't know.' Despite the concerning messages, few details have emerged from authorities or local media about Brown's disappearance. It remains unclear when he was officially reported missing, or what efforts are currently underway to locate him. The lack of information has fueled speculation online, with some followers expressing fears that his work on Plastoline may have made him a target.

Municipality suspects sabotage in collapse of old school building in Eroor
A portion of an old building of Government KMUP School, Eroor, collapsed in heavy rain on Sunday night, averting a potential tragedy since the incident took place at night on a holiday. However, the Thripunithura municipality suspects it to be an alleged act of sabotage and has demanded a police inquiry. The building, which once served as a kitchen, was no longer in use and had been in a dilapidated state for long. Local residents have been demanding its demolition to avoid a tragedy since it stood on the school campus. Over 200 students from the neighbourhood attend the school. A meeting chaired by the municipal chairperson and attended by the education standing committee chairperson and municipal engineering wing officials was held on Monday morning to take stock of the situation. Later in the day, the chairperson, education standing committee chairperson, municipal secretary, municipal engineer, and assistant engineer visited the school. The school headmistress and PTA president were also present. An inspection by the Engineering department and video footage of the said building taken by the school authorities showed that it did not have the kind of damage till before the alleged collapse. This was also vouched for by the headmistress and the PTA president, leading to suspicions of alleged conspiracy for willful sabotage, a statement issued by the municipality said. 'The building is no longer in use and has been marked out for demolition. A contractor has been assigned to do that work. He will demolish the building once he finishes the maintenance works of two other schools that are now under way. Anyway, the building has been isolated and locked with no access to either students or teachers. It has not been issued a fitness certificate either,' said Rema Santhosh, municipal chairperson. At another meeting later in the afternoon, the headmistress was asked to lodge a petition with the District Police Chief (Kochi City) and the Station House Officer concerned in the wake of suspicions that an alleged conspiracy was hatched to deliberately inflict damage on the building. It was also decided to reinspect the school buildings, which were inspected by the engineering wing ahead of the start of the academic year. The engineering department has also been asked to submit a comprehensive report on the necessary measures to be taken. The recent incident in which 13-year-old M. Midhun was electrocuted by a low-hanging electric wire over the cycle shed of the Thevalakkara Boys High School in Kollam district has drawn attention to how oversight left school students highly vulnerable to life-threatening incidents. The probability of such incidents increases manifold during heavy rain and wind. A local resident said that he had made a Facebook post on the threat posed by the old building on August 23, 2024. 'However, the authorities showed scant regard to an issue that exposed students to danger. The protruding iron rods of the old structure still pose a threat,' he said.

Sandra Thomas wears burqa in protest against sex offenders in positions of power at Kerala Film Producers Association
Actor-producer Sandra Thomas shocked everyone when she turned up in a burqa to file her nomination at the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) for the upcoming elections. After filing her nomination, she told the press why she wore it in protest against sexual offenders sitting in positions of power. Sandra Thomas told the press that her wearing a burqa was a form of protest against the abusers in Producers Association. Sandra Thomas wears burqa to protest against sex offenders In videos Sandra re-shared on her Instagram, she can be seen dressed in a black burqa, with only her face left visible, as she filed a nomination at the KFPA. Manorama Online reported that she said, 'In light of my previous experience, I feel a veil is appropriate attire to wear in the presence of the current office bearers. This is also my protest against the four accused, who have been accused of a serious crime, still being administrators here. Moreover, they are also contesting in the upcoming elections as president and secretary.' Sandra also reportedly told the press that the KFPA is 'not a safe place for women', adding, 'This is an organisation that has been monopolised by ten to fifteen people for decades now. Changes must be made. No matter what place it is, it will stagnate if only a few people control it. The Producers Association is below all organisations in Malayalam cinema today because the current rulers have brought it to that state. The industry will only change when changes are made here.' About Sandra Thomas This is not the first time that Sandra has spoken up against sexual abuse and exploitation in the Malayalam film industry. She recently also claimed that producers set aside budgets in Mollywood to procure drugs for stars. In November 2024, Sandra was expelled from the producers' body on charges of breaching organisational discipline and norms. She had questioned the silence of film organisations, including KFPA, on the startling revelations made in the Hema Committee Report. In December 2024, the Ernakulam Sub Court stayed the order to expel her. Sandra has now filed a nomination to run for the Presidency of KFPA.
