Why Women Are Rejecting Oversize Rolexes for Delicate, Ladylike Watches

For years New York publicist Yael Fraynd was enamored of oversize, heavy watches. These days? She covets 'delicate' faces that are 'small, curved and feminine.' Ahead of her 40th birthday, Fraynd says she's hunting for a watch that reads as jewelry, subtler than the borrowed-from-the-boys clunkers she once favored. Until about six months ago, Natasha Gabbayan, a Los Angeles vintage clothing dealer, routinely borrowed her dad's 40 mm stainless steel Rolex. Now the 29-year-old is rummaging through her mom's drawers, scouring for slender finds from the 1990s. 'It's as if a watch and a bracelet had a baby,' she said of one diamond-studded discovery—a 18K-gold Audemars Piguet. 'It feels fancy but also powerful. Because it's small, I feel safer wearing it.'

‘Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens Apologizes for Ageist Comments

The new season of The Golden Bachelor hasn't even started, and yet the season 2 lead Mel Owens is already apologizing. A little refresh: Mel went viral in July for saying that he wouldn't date any women over the age of 59—he's 66, for the record—and fans started calling on ABC to replace him as the next Golden Bachelor lead. Now, Mel is apologizing for his ageist comments in his first interview since the scandal. 'I didn't know anything about The Golden Bachelor ages,' Mel said in an interview with Glamour when asked why he would agree to star on the show if he didn't want to date women who were 60-plus. 'I didn't know the age range because I wasn't watching it. I'm thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60. That's my age range. I'm thinking that's the gold years for me.' So to recap, he didn't realize The Golden Bachelor's first season had an age range of 60 to 75, and thus didn't think his comments were out of place. But does he understand why his comments were hurtful? Sort of, and only thanks to an unnamed 65-year-old female friend who pointed out the hypocrisy of his comments. 'She said, 'What you said was insensitive, and it's just not who you are.' My reference for dating was 39, 40 years old. I hadn't dated in 26, 27 years. That's what I told her,' he recounted to Glamour. 'She goes, 'It doesn't matter. You've said some things that are just incredibly wrong.' And I go, 'I've got to apologize.'' He said the feedback he got made sense, and admitted that his 'frame of reference' for dating and age ranges was 'incorrect.' That said, it's unclear if he grasps exactly why his comments were so hurtful in the first place. Asked if he understood that fans were upset precisely because The Golden Bachelor is about the idea that you're never too old for love, he responded, 'I'm the perfect example.' If you're still skeptical, Mel understands. He told Glamour that the first thing he did when filming on The Golden Bachelor started last month was to apologize. 'I said, 'It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance,'' he revealed, adding that he plans on earning the audience's trust back, too. Whether or not Bachelor Nation will be willing to even give Mel the chance to redeem himself remains to be seen. Season 2 of The Golden Bachelor will premiere Wednesday, September 24, on ABC.

Hasbro Reveals New ‘Fourth Wing' Party Game

It's no surprise that we're huge fans of Fourth Wing here at Cosmo! Of course, we were able to reveal a major excerpt from Onyx Storm last year and now we're eagerly awaiting the next book in the series, like all of you as well! So when Hasbro reached out about a big Fourth Wing secret, well, we absolutely knew that we had to be the first to tell you about it. Hasbro is releasing a new version of Priorities known as Priorities Fourth Wing Edition and it will absolutely have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about the universe as you rank characters, scenarios, and more! The game is simple: the first player—the Wingleader—grabs five different cards that have various choices that you will then rank from 1 to 5. Then the rest of the group—the Iron Squad—will try to guess how their ranked their picks and, of course, there may be some surprises along the way. According to Hasbro, "Do you prioritize love, power, friendship, or something else entirely? Which signet do you think you could wield? And who's really your favorite rider at Basgiath?" Basically, this game is going to offer a lot of hard hitting questions that may make you scared to reveal how you truly feel! As you can see with some of these cards, there are not going to be some easy picks. Guess the ranking correctly and you can get a card to add to your pile. Be the first to spell out PRIORITIES with the letters on the back of the cards to win the game. So make sure you play with people you really know and try to stump those who probably think they know you! And, yes, Rebecca Yarros gave the game her full approval, even working with the team throughout the game's development to make sure it's everything hardcore fans could want! "I really hope Empyrean readers will love Priorities Fourth Wing Edition as much as I do! It's clear that the team at Hasbro are fans and that they kept the most passionate readers of this series in mind when they created this game," she exclusively told Cosmopolitan. "I love that it allows them to engage with the characters, choices, and moments that stick with readers long after they close the book." Ready to dive in and reveal your choices? Priorities Fourth Wing Edition is available to pre-order on Amazon, Target, Walmart and Barnes & Noble now. It will also be available at most major retailers starting on October 1, 2025.
