DJ Akademiks hits back at Charlamagne Tha God over Drake, iHeartMedia, and UMG Lawsuit
DJ Akademiks has hit back at Charlamagne Tha God after The Breakfast Club host mocked his coverage of Drake's legal dispute with iHeartMedia and Universal Music Group (UMG). The exchange follows reports that Drake and iHeart reached an "amicable resolution" regarding allegations of payola in favor of Kendrick Lamar's diss track, "Not Like Us."
Charlamagne addressed the situation on The Breakfast Club, poking fun at Akademiks' dedication to covering the case.
In response, Akademiks watched the clip on his livestream, calling out Charlamagne and The Breakfast Club for being owned by iHeartMedia and dismissing the idea that Drake's petition lacked merit.
"It's absolutely untrue that Drake dropped the petition because there was nothing there," Akademiks stated. "The reality is Drake was asking iHeart for information, documents, and possible payments that could prove they were getting paid by Universal." He also pointed out that the FCC's probe into iHeartMedia for alleged payola practices played a role in the decision.

Drake's legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) remains ongoing. The rapper has accused UMG of boosting Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" to damage his brand amid contract negotiations, a claim the label has denied.
Beyond legal issues, Drake has also faced a tough week on the charts. His tracks "Gimme a Hug" and "Nokia" have dropped out of the Billboard Hot 100's top 10, while Kendrick Lamar's "Luther" continues to hold the No. 1 spot. Akademiks blamed a lack of radio airplay and label support for Drake's declining chart positions.
As the Drake vs. UMG saga unfolds, Akademiks remains vocal about what he sees as industry manipulation, while Charlamagne continues to push back on his takes.

Drake breaks RIAA record with 10 Diamond certifications across singles and collaborations
Drake has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the artist with the most RIAA Diamond certifications ever — a total of ten. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed the news on May 28, announcing that his singles 'Hold On, We're Going Home' and 'Best I Ever Had' have now reached Diamond status, joining an already impressive list. With this update, Drake's Diamond-certified catalog also includes hits like 'God's Plan,' 'One Dance,' 'Hotline Bling,' Travis Scott's 'SICKO MODE,' 'Life Is Good' with Future, Lil Wayne's 'Love Me,' and Chris Brown's 'No Guidance.' These achievements place Drake ahead of Garth Brooks and Post Malone, who each hold nine Diamond certifications. The RIAA celebrated the milestone with a social media post showcasing all 10 plaques. Drake now stands as the first artist to hit double-digit Diamond certifications across both singles and albums. An 11th certification may be on the horizon, with 'Nice for What' currently certified 9x Platinum. Fans quickly reacted on social media. 'You just simply can't say anything bad about this,' one person wrote. Others used the occasion to reference Drake's ongoing rivalry with Kendrick Lamar, commenting, 'Looks like the 20v1 didn't work out!' Beyond the certifications, Drake continues to stay active. In February, he released his collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PARTYNEXTDOOR, with two tracks still charting on the Billboard Hot 100. This summer, he's scheduled to headline all three nights of Wireless Festival in London from July 11–13 and is also planning the return of OVO Fest in Toronto. Drake's consistency and dominance show no signs of slowing down.

Morgan Wallen's new album dominates Billboard with ‘What I Want' featuring Tate McRae at No. 1
Morgan Wallen's latest track, What I Want, featuring Tate McRae, has made a huge splash by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The pop ballad, which sees Wallen and McRae harmonizing about an on-again, off-again relationship, helped propel Wallen's new album, I'm The Problem, to the top of the Billboard 200 as well. The album's success marks a major milestone for the country artist, whose release garnered 31.2 million streams in its opening week and claimed the largest debut of 2025 with 493,000 units earned, surpassing The Weeknd's January album launch. What I Want marks Wallen's fourth Hot 100 No. 1 hit, while it is McRae's first time at the top, following her successful track 'Greedy' that peaked at No. 3 earlier this year. The song is part of Wallen's two-hour-long album, which also features other chart-toppers like Just in Case and I'm The Problem. The overwhelming success of the album comes on the back of record-breaking numbers for streaming, where it leads the year with 462.63 million on-demand streams. -Instagram.
