Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 and Media Forum to open on Friday
The opening ceremony will be held at Celebration Square of Saih Qatna under the patronage of Sheikh Sabaa bin Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-General of National Celebrations, in the presence of Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah.
The two events reflect Dakhliyah's broader strategy to integrate government, community and media efforts in highli-ghting investment opportunities and development progress, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The festival will run till August 30, offering cultural evenings, drone and laser shows, family activities and an open market featuring 65 small and medium-sized enterprises and ten local farmers. It will also generate 60 temporary jobs in logistics and event management.
The press forum will bring together more than 70 journalists from across Oman for a programme that includes a discussion session with the governor, visual presentations on key projects, and site visits to tourism and infrastructure developments, including the archaeological village of Al Sogara.
Officials said the two events aim to raise the profile of Jabal Akhdar as a model for sustainable mountain tourism and development. More than RO4.5mn worth of projects are currently underway in the wilayat, including roads, public facilities and service upgrades.

The proposed project includes several key components, most notably a honey museum featuring exhibits on the history of Omani bees, a sorting unit, a laboratory and space for environmental education. Also planned is a rose farm, a rosewater distillation factory with public viewing area and retail space for locally produced rose products. The investment plan further includes development of an olive farm and a public park, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism practices tied to local agriculture. Officials confirmed that the project will be implemented under a corporate investment system in partnership with private sector entities. A joint technical team has been formed comprising governorate and ministry officials to assess rainwater harvesting and terrace rehabilitation projects. The objective, according to officials, is to improve water resource efficiency and preserve the traditional mountain farming heritage. Following the meeting, the governor conducted a site visit to review ongoing agricultural efforts across the wilayat.

Month-long Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 opens
Jabal Akhdar – Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 officially opened on Friday at Celebrations Square under the patronage of Sheikh Sabaa bin Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-General of National Celebrations Committee. The event was attended by officials, private sector representatives and members of civil society. Organised to stimulate domestic tourism and promote Jabal Akhdar's natural and cultural assets, the festival will run till August 30. Activities include cultural performances, sports competitions and entertainment programmes for all age groups. The opening ceremony featured drone and laser shows set against the mountainous backdrop, besides traditional art displays and folk music performances. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, said the festival supports sustainable tourism by aligning investment in natural resources with social and economic empowerment. 'The festival reflects the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and reinforces the governorate's position on the national tourism map,' he said. He noted that 65 small and medium-sized enterprises are participating, alongside ten local farmers showcasing agricultural products. The festival has also created 60 temporary jobs for local youth in organisational and support roles. The festival grounds include dedicated areas for children and youth, a theatre for performances, amusement rides and food outlets. Folklore groups, the Lamborghini Club and the WanderDrive sports car team are also participating, enhancing the festival's appeal.
