Chase Dollander makes spring training debut with Rockies
Colorado and San Francisco played to a, 2-2, tie on Monday in the Cactus League during Major League Baseball spring training.
Former Tennessee pitcher Chase Dollander started for the Rockies at Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, Arizona. Monday's contest marked his spring training debut.
He pitched two innings and recorded three strikeouts. Dollander allowed two hits (one home run) and one run (earned), while not allowing a walk. The former Vol totaled 14 pitches against eight batters.
Dollander was selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft (No. 9 overall). He played for the Vols from 2022-23 after transferring from Georgia Southern.
Dollander (17-6) appeared in 33 games, including 31 starts, at Tennessee. He recorded 228 strikeouts, one complete game and a .364 ERA in 168 innings pitched during his Tennessee career.
The former Vol earned 2022 Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-America honors. Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2022, while advancing to the 2023 College World Series.

West and Roch Cholowsky hit back-to-back singles before Mulivai Velu drove in West with a double down and Cholowsky scored on a groundout by Martin to make it 2-2. Martin hit a two-out triple in the eighth that drove in two runs to make it 5-2. UCLA, the 2013 CWS champion, is hosting its first super regional since 2019. The Bruins made their seventh super regional berth all time and sixth under coach John Savage. UTSA (47-14) is making its first appearance in the super regionals.
