LEGENDARY rugby referee Nigel Owens has announced his return to officiating.
Owens called time on his refereeing career in December 2020 after a whopping 23 YEARS officiating matches.

But a commemorative match has brought the 52-year-old out of retirement.
The Welshman will pick up his whistle again to referee a special match between Lampeter RFC and London Welsh.
Owens announced his shock return on social media, writing: 'I'm back.
"After four years, I am picking up the whistle again tomorrow for a special 150 years anniversary celebrating Lampeter RFC in their match versus London Welsh.
"Hope the legs will last the 80 minutes.'
Rugby Union fans were quick to comment on Owen's shock announcement.
One wrote on X: "You will smash it! You're a legend of the game!"
Another said: "The best ref ever. Good luck.'
And another said: "I'm sure you'll be great.
"Seriously, what an honour to be reffed by Nigel Owens. don't take any backchat lol."
One remarked: "Genuinely want to watch the match now."
Another chimed in: "You had better start stretching today and have some diclofenac ready for Sunday."
London Welsh are also excited by Owen's return to the pitch.
Commenting on his X post, they wrote: "We cant wait."
Owens, who is widely considered to be one of the best refs in rugby union history, was once the owner of the record for the most test matches refereed.
The biggest moment of his career came in 2015 when he took charge of the World Cup final between bitter rivals Australia and New Zealand..

Jack Grealish has bit to prove — I know how he feels, says David Moyes
Jack Grealish has a point to prove. That much is clear. To Pep Guardiola, after he unceremoniously discarded him from his plans at Manchester City, and to Thomas Tuchel as he looks to force his way into the England coach's plans before the 2026 World Cup. Then there is the faith of Everton, the manager, David Moyes, and their supporters to repay after the club committed £12million to meet the cost of a season-long loan deal that begins in earnest away to Leeds United on Monday night. But, most of all, Grealish has something to prove to himself. Chiefly that his best is not behind him and that the swagger that made him a £100million player four years ago can be realised again. If he can do so, then Moyes, who overcame his own army of doubters to reassert his managerial credentials after his brief tenure at Manchester United, is sure he will be a success. Asked what tipped the balance in his pursuit of Grealish, who will be 30 next month, he said: 'The knowledge that he thinks he's got a little bit to prove. 'Without putting all the pressure on Jack, and I think he carries a lot of pressure anyway because of who he is and what he is, I think he's got a wee bit where he has to prove one or two people [wrong]. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does. 'I've had to do that myself personally. I've had to come back from being knocked down. Sometimes you have to have that resilience to bounce back, to fight back and to show everybody. 'I just sense that Jack is carrying that with him now. I hope it shows through this season because, if it does, then we'll get a lot of good things from Jack.' Grealish has quickly made a positive impression at Everton. Moyes said he looks in 'fabulous' condition and his new team-mate Charly Alcaraz was struck by a different side to the player he has faced in the past. The Argentinian — another of the club's summer signings after a promising loan spell from Flamengo was turned into a permanent deal — said: 'He is a great guy. In the short time he has been here, he has chatted to everyone and tried to get to know everyone. 'What I have been really impressed about is that he has been a real warrior in training. We want that attitude. We are at a club where we are all in it together.' Only the three relegated clubs scored fewer goals than Everton (42) last season and Moyes wants to see Grealish 'in positions where he can score'. Whether that means starting on the left wing and drifting inside, or beginning in a No10 role, remains to be seen. In the past Jesse Lingard benefited from a spell under Moyes's tutelage. He scored nine goals and managed five assists in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign, having been overlooked by Manchester United and is an obvious reference point. 'I think we are all saying there is a Jack Grealish who played for Aston Villa, there's one who played for Manchester City, one we've seen playing for England,' Moyes said. 'And along the line, he has been playing for arguably the best manager in the world [Guardiola]. 'So I take his thoughts [Grealish's] but I have to find ways of getting the best out of players as well.' Moyes said he did not speak to Guardiola before Everton proceeded with the deal but, otherwise, his research was typically detailed. The most important chats were with Grealish and the enthusiasm he showed for the task ahead was refreshing given this has been a summer when plenty of other targets have rejected Everton's overtures. The superb Hill Dickinson Stadium on the banks of the River Mersey, which will host its first competitive game when Brighton & Hove Albion visit next Sunday, has the potential to be transformative. But a team to be proud of must rise from within it. 'The club has done brilliantly to build a new stadium,' Moyes said. 'It has taken years to happen but they've got there eventually and done it. 'I think now there has to be a building of a football club back inside it, to get it back to where it was and, more importantly, to get the team back to where it was. Or closer to where it should be. We are a long way off at the moment. 'I don't think we can do that in this window and make the team what we want it to be, but we are going to need people along the journey to make it more exciting and make people want to come and play. 'Whether that is through high-profile players or our league position or how we are playing and our performances, we are needing some of them to give us a lift now. 'There's been quite a few players who I've been disappointed have not chosen to come to Everton this summer and I think that's because, if you look at the last four or five years, we've not been in great shape. 'Hopefully, they are beginning to see a new stadium, great results in the second half of last season, and they start to believe Everton is a good home for them.' Gary Neville has urged Manchester United to sign a new goalkeeper after Altay Bayidnir's error against Arsenal. The Turkish shot stopper started in Andre Onana 's absence as United slipped to defeat in their opening match of the season against Mikel Arteta 's side, with Ricardo Calafiori heading home the decisive goal. Calafiori was able to nod in after Bayindir managed to punch the ball but failed to command his area and clear convincingly. And United legend Neville insists the goalkeeping department is a major concert that must be addressed before the summer transfer window closes. He said on Sky Sports: 'There is a glaring issue for United that cannot be ignored and that is they need to find a new goalkeeper. 'They have to, I am absolutely unequivocal on that. 'I have experience at United for 20 years where there were two big periods of seven or eight years with Schmeichel and Van der Sar, and in between we had seven or eight goalkeepers in a seven or eight year period. 'It is really unsettling when you don't have a dominant No 1 who owns his six-yard box, who comes and punches everything and makes saves to save you points when your defenders make mistakes.' Neville says there two goalkeepers that United should target to solve their issues in the position. He added: 'The two you look at that have been mentioned in the last few weeks are (Gianluigi) Donnarumma and (Emiliano) Martinez. 'The reason I say those two would be good goalkeepers for Man United is not necessarily because I think they are the best goalkeepers in Europe or that they are amazing. 'I think they have got big personalities and characters. You have seen Donnarumma in a European final for Italy save those penalties and look like a giant, you have seen him play for PSG in huge games under pressure. 'Martinez has won a World Cup, they have played under extreme pressure and have big personalities and characters, the arrogance of a goalkeeper. 'They need to sort the goalkeeper out as they will continue to concede goals and points and it undermines what they are doing.' Bayindir joined the club from Fenerbahce in September 2023 but has been criticised for several high-profile errors, particularly when conceding from set-pieces. Meanwhile, Onana, who United were open to allowing to leave this summer, took part in training during pre-season but was not deemed sharp enough to start against Arsenal. United are believed to have kept tabs on Donnarumma and Antwerp stopper Senne Lammens but have not yet moved for either with Onana still at the club. Ruben Amorim revealed pre-match that Onana had not made the squad because of the performances of United's other goalkeepers during pre-season. 'No, he recovered,' Amorim told MUTV when asked if Onana was still injured. 'But the other guys did so well during pre-season, so I need to balance that.'

Everton kick-off their campaign on Monday at Leeds with loan signing Grealish in contention for his debut. The Manchester City and England midfielder has fallen out of favour with boss Pep Guardiola and played only 715 Premier League minutes last season. But now he's joined Everton looking to get back to his best with the World Cup coming next summer. Moyes is hoping he can do what he did with Lingard, when he signed him on loan from Manchester United at West Ham in 2021 which saw the player find form and earn an England recall. The Everton boss said: 'I think we are all saying there is a Jack Grealish who played for Aston Villa, there's one who played for Manchester City, one we've seen playing for England and along the line there he is playing for arguably the best manager in the world. So I take his thoughts as well but I have to find ways of getting the best out of players as well. 'Jesse Lingard is an example. If we can get him to be as successful as that this year it would be great. 'My choice is that I think he can bring us something which we've not got, a bit more flair and hopefully more creativity to our attacking line. What convinced me is the knowledge that he thinks he's got a little bit to prove and to stand up. I've had to do that myself personally. I've had to come back from being knocked down. Sometimes you have to have that resilience to bounce back, to fight back and to show everybody. 'I just sense that Jack is carrying that with him now. I hope it shows through this season because, if it does, then we'll get a lot of good things from Jack if he does.' Moyes is trying to rebuild Everton's squad after a mass exodus of first-team players at the end of last season. He's brought in Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, Mark Travers and Carlos Alcaraz has made his loan permanent. Moyes added: 'I think the club have done brilliantly to build a new stadium. It has taken years to happen but they've got there eventually and done it. I think now there has to be a building of a football club back inside it, to get it back to where it was and more importantly to get the team back to where it was. Or closer to where it should be.
