'We are currently set to open in Harrison County, MS on June 9,' the Buc-ee's media department told the Sun Herald.

The $50 million travel center, known for its Beaver nuggets, hot brisket and the cleanest restrooms on the road, is along I-10 at Menge Avenue, exit 24. This is the first Buc-ee's in Mississippi.
Groundbreaking for the 74,000 square foot gas station and convenience and gift store — one of the biggest in the country — was in September 2023. The goal was to open in Spring 2025.
Buc-ee's founder Arch 'Beaver' Aplin III opened his first Buc-ee's travel center on I-10 in Texas 41 years ago in 1982. Now there are 50 locations in the U.S.
Crowds of people also lined up on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a job fair to fill more than 200 positions at the new Buc-ee's.
Mississippi had more applicants for jobs than any of the job fairs the company has held over the past several years, said Josh Smith, Buc-ee's director of operations for the Southeast. Full-time jobs typically pay $18-$24 an hour plus full benefits.

Virgin Media O2 to resume switch off tomorrow leaving these phones with no internet
Virgin Media O2 is set to continue its 3G switch tomorrow (August 4), which could leave some customers unable to use mobile data. The UK's major mobile providers, including EE, Vodafone and Three, have gradually been shutting off all 3G services over the past few years following an agreement with the Government back in 2021. Virgin Media O2 is the latest provider to switch off its 3G network so it can focus on "faster, more reliable and more energy-efficient" 4G and 5G networks. Its 3G network switch off began on April 2, with the city of Durham the first area affected. It continued in July, with Virgin Media O2 switching off 3G services in: Norwich Telford Guildford Next area impacted by Virgin Media O2's 3G switch off Torquay will be the next area affected by Virgin Media O2's 3G switch off, with the service set to be shut off on Monday (August 4). The rest of the UK is set to follow by the end of the year, Virgin Media O2's Chief Technology Officer, Jeanie York, said. She added: 'We're switching off our 3G network to focus our attention and investment on upgrading faster and more reliable 4G and 5G networks that will give our customers a better overall experience. 'Following the successful pilot in Durham earlier this year, we will be switching off 3G in Norwich, Telford and Guildford in July, and Torquay in early August, with the rest of the UK to follow by the end of the year." (Image: Shutterstock/Virgin Media O2) "You'll struggle to do even the basics" - Virgin Media O2 customers with 3G devices issued upgrade warning Virgin Media O2 customers still using 3G devices or sims, have been warned to upgrade to a 4G or 5G device before the switch off takes place in their area. Any customers who don't upgrade to a 4G or 5G device before 3G is switched off in their area will still be able to make voice calls and send text messages, but will be unable to use mobile data. Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert (MSE) explained: "If you have a phone or Sim that only supports 3G, you'll effectively no longer be able to use the internet once it's fully switched off by your provider. "You'll still technically be able to connect to the internet, but you'll struggle to do even basic tasks. "You'll still be able to make calls and send text messages over 2G, though the quality of the call will likely be a lot worse than it was on the 3G network." Who is Martin Lewis? Virgin Media O2 said the "vast majority" of its customers already have a 4G or 5G device and will not have to take action as a result of the switch-off. Known vulnerable customers still using 3G devices have already been offered a 4G-ready device free of charge. Virgin Media O2 is also working with Age UK to distribute content designed for older people and their families to help them better understand the 3G switch-off. All other customers who don't currently have a 4G handset or SIM will be offered a new device at a reduced price. Customers with unwanted handsets are urged to recycle their devices through O2 Recycle, which could see them receive cash for their unwanted phone. Devices affected by Virgin Media O2's 3G switch off If you are unsure whether or not your device will lose mobile data access when Virgin Media O2's 3G network is switched off, don't worry, there is a way to check. Visit the Virgin Media O2 website and look at its list of devices that are not compatible with 4G and WiFi Calling. If your phone/sim is on that list, you will be impacted by the switch-off and will need to change devices before it happens. BT, EE and Plusnet announce new price rises
BT and EE have raised mid-contract price rises for customers taking out a new deal from Thursday. New BT and EE customers who sign up for broadband from July 31 will see their monthly price rise by £4 mid-way through their contract. This will come into effect on March 31 next year, then again on the same date in 2027. The previous mid-contract price rise was £3 a month. Meanwhile, Plusnet customers will also be subject to a mid-contract price rise of £4 a month from August 5. EE, BT and Plusnet mobile customers will also be hit with higher mid-contract price rises. Those who are a Sim-only or Flex Pay customer will see their contract price rise by £2.50 a month from April, while bundled handset and airtime plan customers will face a £4 rise. A BT consumer spokesman said: 'We are very supportive of Ofcom's requirement to show upfront pounds and pence charges. EE was the first provider to introduce this pricing model, offering EE customers a predictable long-term view of their contract terms. Our pricing approach is designed to be clear for our customers. 'We continue to invest in our business, building on 11 years as the best network to better serve our customers with a reliable and quality connection as we roll out the fastest speed technology to 30 million homes by the end of the decade. We're focused on providing value and customer satisfaction, making new technologies available to our customers such as 5G standalone and WiFi 7.' Ernest Doku, telecoms spokesman at said: 'In another pounding for consumers' wallets, BT, EE and Plusnet will hike mid-contract price rises to £4 per month for broadband and EE £2.50 per month for some mobile customers. 'This adds an extra £1 to mid-contract price rises for new and recontracting customers signing up from 31 July 2025 for EE and BT and 5 August 2025 for Plusnet. 'BT's price updates have often set a precedent for other providers to follow suit. If this trend continues, the telecoms industry runs the risk of creating its own, accelerated rate of inflation.' Mr Doku added: 'Based on our research, where the average BT customer pays £31.50, EE customer £29.20 and Plusnet customer £25.80 for home broadband, this represents a staggering rise of between 12.6% and 15.5% – significantly higher than current inflation of 3.6%. 'From 31 July, EE Sim-only and Flex Pay airtime mobile customers signing up for new deals will see a £2.50 monthly increase applied in March 2025. For those taking out EE's cheapest £18 per month Sim-only plan, this is the equivalent of a notable 13.8% hike. 'This change only applies to customers taking out new contracts, so if you are currently a BT, Plusnet or EE customer and your plan is up for renewal before March 2026 you should shop around for other options. Many regional broadband providers such as YouFibre and Trooli and mobile providers including Lebara and Smarty don't raise prices mid-contract.' Which? director of policy and advocacy Rocio Concha said: 'It's shocking that BT is choosing to increase its mid-contract price rises above the rate of inflation for any new customers who sign up for broadband packages from BT, EE or Plusnet from 31st July. 'Any out-of-contract BT, EE and Plusnet customers who aren't happy with these hikes should vote with their feet and switch to a cheaper deal. 'We'd always recommend carefully weighing up the total costs of any new contract to ensure it offers value for money and you're aware of any possible increases.'
