Chelsea player ratings vs LAFC: Liam Delap makes instant impact with Pedro Neto electric
Debut assist: New signing Liam Delap impressed for Chelsea after coming off the bench against LAFC in Atlanta (Getty Images) Liam Delap marked his Chelsea debut with an assist as the Blues kicked off their Club World Cup campaign by beating LAFC 2-0. Delap was named on the bench for the game in Atlanta, which was played in front of just over 20,000 fans, but he came on as a second-half substitute to make an impact. Advertisement The striker set up Enzo Fernandez for Chelsea's second goal of the game, after Pedro Neto had put them ahead in the first half. The victory puts Chelsea top of Group D and Enzo Maresca's side will next be in action on Friday, when they take on Flamengo. Standard Sport's Simon Collings watched Chelsea in action... Robert Sanchez 7 Did not have much to do as Chelsea dominated much of the possession, but he was impressive when called into action. Made two smart stops from Denis Bouanga in the second half. Reece James 6 Taken off at the break in what felt like a pre-planned substitution. Was steady during his 45 minutes, although he did pick up a booking. Advertisement Tosin Adarabioyo 7 Largely untroubled. Made a vital interception midway through the second half when Olivier Giroud was about to be played through on goal. Levi Colwill 6 Like his centre-back partner, enjoyed a fairly comfortable night's work. Passing was a little loose when he tried to go long. Marc Cucurella 7 Won the ball to kick-start the move that led to Chelsea scoring the opening goal of the game. Got forward when he could and looked threatening. Moises Caicedo 7 Typically busy in the midfield as he made his presence known, making more tackles than anyone in the first half. Romeo Lavia 6 One of two half-time substitutions. Had some bright moments before coming off and helped Chelsea to have 65 per cent possession in the first half. Advertisement Pedro Neto 8 | Star player Showed great composure for his goal. Caused LAFC problems with his electric pace and combined well with Cole Palmer. Hit the crossbar with the last kick of the game. Cole Palmer 7 Produced some magical moments, including one brilliant solo run in the second half. Wasted a great chance when Neto teed him up. Noni Madueke 6 Started brightly and was Chelsea's best player in the opening 20 minutes, testing Hugo Lloris with a good effort. Outshone by Neto, though. Nicolas Jackson 7 Put in a good showing and created the only goal of the opening period with a lovely pass that found Neto. Had a header cleared off the line in the second half. Substitutes Enzo Fernandez (Lavia 45') 7 Advertisement On at the break and scored a late goal by getting on the end of Delap's cross. Timed his run perfectly. Malo Gusto (James 45') 5 So nearly caught out of position when a ball over the top found Bouanga, but Sanchez bailed him. Liam Delap (Jackson 64') 7 On for his Chelsea debut and looked really sharp. Set up Fernandez's goal with a perfect cross into the box. Tyrique George (Madueke 64') 5 A quiet cameo from the winger, who never really got into the game. Dario Essugo (Caicedo 84') N/A Christopher Nkunku (Palmer 84') N/A Subs not used: Jorgensen, Sarr, Chalobah, Badiashile, Acheampong, Anselmino, Dewsbury-Hall, Andrey Santos, Marc Guiu.

Al Ahly 0-0 Inter Miami: Lionel Messi denied injury time winner as Club World Cup begins with goalless draw
Lionel Messi had an effort hit the crossbar as Inter Miami drew with Al Ahly in their Club World Cup opener (AFP via Getty Images) Al Ahly and Inter Miami played out a goalless, but highly entertaining, draw in the opening game of the Club World Cup. The Egyptian side, the most decorated team in African football, dominated the first-half of the Group A encounter and quite easily could have been three or four goals up by the break had it not been for a brilliant individual performance. Advertisement However, the roles were reversed in the second half and Al Ahly were the ones left indebted to the most experienced player on their team as they easily could have left the Hard Rock Stadium empty handed. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Trezeguet were undoubtedly the most recognisable names on the pitch at kick-off, but it was one particular former Premier League player who stole the show in the opening 45 minutes. Oscar Ustari, who spent six months on loan at Sunderland just over a decade ago, rolled back the years with an outstanding display of goalkeeping. So much so that the penalty save to deny ex-Aston Villa forward Trezeguet the opening goal two minutes before half-time wasn't even his best stop of the half. Advertisement Having already impressively denied Emam Ashour, Hamdy Fathy and Trezeguet, Ustari somehow kept out Achraf Dari's header from point-blank range, ensuring Inter Miami were, as Javier Mascherano admitted at half-time 'still alive'. That said, the MLS outfit were inches away from going in at the break ahead. Al Ahly striker Wessam Abou Ali, who had earlier seen a goal disallowed for offside, was in the right place at the right time defensively as he made a miraculous goal-line clearance. The Herons did improve as an attacking force in the second half as Messi was able to find more space and get on the ball. Many inside the stadium thought brilliant Argentine had broken the deadlock with a free-kick which hit the side-netting. Big save: Mohamed El Shenawy (AFP via Getty Images) Suarez and Tadeo Allende both went close to putting Inter Miami ahead before Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy proved his importance. Advertisement Firstly he tipped Fafa Picault's header over the bar, then got his fingertips to the ball to turn Messi's effort onto the crossbar and then, after receiving treatment, blocked the ball with his face just as Maximiliano Falcon thought he had won it for the MLS side right at the death. A share of the points in an entertaining goalless draw in Miami Gardens, though with Palmeiras and Porto next for Al Ahly and Inter Miami respectively, they may rue not picking up the win.

PSG cruise past Atletico Madrid to get Club World Cup campaign off to perfect start
Three of the best: Vitinha, Desire Doue and Goncalo Ramos formed a devastating trio (Getty Images) Paris Saint-Germain made a winning start to their Club World Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid. In Group B's first match, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Kang-In Lee were on target as the newly-crowned Champions League winners got off to a flyer in the heat at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Advertisement Luis Enrique's side weren't at their scintialling best as they had shown in their 5-0 decimation of Inter Milan in the Champions League final, but they showed signs that they had brought that Munich momentum with them stateside with a professional performance against an errant Atleti. Paris suffered a scare in the early exchanges as Julian Alvarez bent a free kick just wide of Gianluigi Donnarumma's near post, but they were ahead inside 18 minutes. Fabian was the goalscorer, arrowing an effort hard and low into the far corner to open the scoring and give the Ligue 1 champions a deserved advantage. Their high-octane pressing was proving too much for a laxadaisical Atletico side who seemed to be lacking a bit of unity, and with Fabian and Vitinha orchestrating play from the Parisian engine room, there was no stopping the French side. Advertisement They doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, with Vitinha slotting home cooly past Jan Oblak to finish a sweeping move from back to front after Antoine Griezmann had tested Donnarumma for the first time just seconds earlier. Atleti upped their intensity in the opening minutes of the second half, but they imploded as the game wore on, with Clement Lenglet's petulance earning him his marching orders as tempers flared and Simeone's side continued to collect needless bookings. Atletico thought they had halved the deficit through Alvarez as Desire Doue was robbed by Koke, before Pablo Barrios fed Alvarez, who had peeled off his marker. The Argentine struck beyond Donnarumma, but the goal was chalked off by VAR for a foul on Doue by Koke, leaving Diego Simeone to sarcastically applaud on the touchline. Mayulu repeated his Champions League feat by adding a third late on, slamming home emphatically as a loose ball broke his way to compound Atletico's miserable afternoon. Advertisement It could only go from bad to worse for the Spanish side as Robin Le Normand was adjudged by VAR to have handled Ibrahima Mbaye's shot, and Lee converted the resulting penalty to round off a Rose Bowl rout for the Parisians. The youthful exuberance shone through from Paris' stars in the end, keeping their heads in tempestuous conditions as they sailed past their Spanish counterparts to top the group with ease.
