The winner Nashville Jack is a horse you will see in better races but this filly did a terrific job on debut, doing her best work late. She might be a prep away but has potential.
SO YOU ARE (race 3, 2nd)
This lightly-raced son of So You Think is still learning his craft and hit the line nicely over 1800m in the Highway. He will come into his own over 2000m plus.
GLORIOUS MOMENTS (race 4, 1st)
It was only a Benchmark 72 but it's easy to see the son of Brutal landing in better races soon. He's got stakes quality and will go through his grades quickly.

SLINKY (race 7, 3rd)
Put a line through her run two starts ago when she landed too close, she produced a far better run ridden cold. If she finds herself in a race with speed on next start she's worth backing.
TRAVOLTA (race 10, 1st)
He's won two of his three starts this preparation and can steadily go through his grades in his second preparation in Australia. Back him with confidence if the track is wet.

STEWARDS SAY
Open Secret (race 1): Did not feel comfortable on the soft track. Was found to be coughing post-race and will undergo further veterinary checks, including an endoscopic examination.
Forecaster (race 2): Apprentice William Stanley was fined $500 for striking the gelding nine times before the 100m, four more than permitted.
In Summer (race 3): Jockey Jason Collett felt the prevailing racing surface hampered her ability to close off as expected.
Ruby Flyer (race 5): Did not travel comfortably on the soft track and failed to fire. Was found to be slow to recover post-race.
Storm The Ramparts (race 8): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was slow to recover and lost his off-fore plate. He will be spelled.
The Black Cloud (race 8): Did not let down under pressure and weakened in the straight. Another horse that was slow to recover post-race.
Kazalark (race 10): Late scratching at 9.55am on vets advice after being found lame in the off-foreleg.
CRUNCH TIME
Nashville Jack (race 1): Surged home along the inside to finish his last 600m in 36.09 seconds. Wisnierska (36.08) and Koibito (36.03) both got home well in behind.
Investment (race 6): She was last at one stage but relished the conditions as she was a race best split for every furlong from the 1000m to the finish. Her last 600m of 38.90 seconds was a clear best.
Cigar Flick (race 8): Only had a couple of runners behind her in the run before doing her best work down the outside to finish her last 600m in 35.45 seconds. Her last 200m of 12.45 was the best of the race.
Regimental Colours (race 9): Showed a terrific finishing burst, running the best final three furlongs of the race to win with splits of 11.62, 11.71 and 12.61 seconds. Her last 600m totally 35.94.

PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD Today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced Australia will recognise a Palestinian state in September. Yep, this is the moment our PM announced Australia will recognise Palestine as its own independent country at the UN General Assembly next month. 147 countries already recognise Palestine as a state, and recently, France, the UK and Canada have announced they plan to as well. However, the Prime Minister says Palestine's recognition comes with conditions. Including that Hamas, the terrorist organisation that's controlled Gaza since 2007, isn't a part of it. The announcement comes after the Israeli government said it was going to take full control of Gaza city, which many people around the world and even some inside Israel believe will make things worse. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hasn't backed down. Representatives from a number of countries say what's needed is an immediate end to the war, not for it to continue. METEOR Victorians were treated to quite a sight last night, as a meteor lit up the sky! There were reports of sightings from the east of the state, through to Melbourne, Ballarat and Bendigo. Lots of curious Victorians jumped on to social media to check out what had happened, after the meteor caused a sonic boom, rattling peoples homes! Experts say the meteor was large enough for bits of it to have survived being burned up in Earth's atmosphere, and that those fragments may have landed on the ground somewhere between Bendigo and Ballarat. T20 Australia has smashed South Africa by 17 runs in the first T20 international in Darwin, setting a national record with their ninth straight T20 win. Australia was in trouble early, but Tim David helped turn it around blasting 83 runs to rescue the innings. Josh Hazlewood kept the pressure on with 3 for 27, and then Glenn Maxwell stole the show with this incredible catch over the boundary in the final over. WINGFOIL TEENAGER 14 year old Benjamin Castenskiold from Denmark has just secured the world title in surf freestyle at the GWA Wingfoil World Tour. Not only was this his debut season, he's also made history as s one of the youngest world champions in the sport! CITY 2 SURF Which is what I can say about this years City 2 Surf turnout. 90,000 runners and walkers braved the rain, running 14km from Sydney's CBD to Bondi Beach all in the name of charity. Isaac Heyne took first place in the men's comp with a time of 40 minutes and 33 seconds, and Bronte Oates secured the top spot in the women's with a time of 45 minutes 51 seconds. UGLY DOG First up, to California in the US, where the world's ugliest dog has just been crowned. Sounds a bit mean when you put it like that. This year's winner was Petunia, an English/French bulldog. The competition is all about celebrating pups who are a little more unique in appearance, but they are still cute, right? SHOP CAT Now to Hong Kong, where Tai Gau the cat has just been voted first place in an online poll to find Hong Kong's number one shop cat. You see, cats are a pretty common sight at shops here, employed to keep rats and other pests at bay. Some even have their own social media pages, and people who visit just to see the cats. FAT DOG And finally, to a dog in Mexico who's also become a bit of a local icon. Earning herself the nickname "The Fat Dog of Texcoco", she's already had hundreds of 5 star reviews on Google Maps. Nobody owns The Fat Dog fo Texcoco, she is a stray dog, but local shopkeepers have taken it in turns to feed and look after her.

Eels stars bury hatchet after explosive scenes during nailbiter
Parramatta Eels skipper Mitchell Moses appears to be all rosy with teammate Tallyn Da Silva again. The duo looked far from friendly on Sunday when Moses was sighted delivering multiple blistering outbursts in the 20-year-olds direction. In a tense encounter at CommBank Stadium on Sunday night, Moses' frustrations boiled over with Da Silva three times in the final 10 minutes of the clash against the Cowboys. The young halfback drew the ire of his skipper after multiple passes from dummy half missed the mark. Moses however really lost his cool when the youngster attempted to slice through the defensive line on the fifth tackle just metres away from the line. The skipper was caught on camera giving the youngster an extraordinary spray which appeared to those watching on to be along the lines of: 'Tallyn you f***ing c***.' On Monday however it appeared the two had buried the hatchet with Da Silva responding to Moses' Instagram post. The 30-year-old star posted several images and captioned the upload: 'Gun win big effort from the lads!'. Da Silva saw an opening and took his chance by cheekily commenting: 'Clutch #stillfriends'. The sentiment was reciprocated by the Eels skipper who responded to his teammates remark by writing: 'Love me little mate. lololol.' Moses brushed off the heated scenes with his teammate after being asked by Bryan Fletcher on the Sunday Night with Matty Johns show. 'Yeah it happens on the field … was a tense game,' Moses said. 'We'll learn a lot of lessons from that I think. We've got a really young squad at the moment and it's better to learn the lessons winning the game than having a loss.' Speaking on his SEN radio show on Monday morning, Fox League commentator Andrew Voss was in shock at what unfolded — both for how poor Da Silva was and Moses' subsequent blow up. 'Poor old Tallyn possibly played the worst five or six minutes of a dummy half in the history of the game and I'm not saying that flippantly, I'm saying that honestly,' Voss said. 'I don't think I've seen a dummy half make so many mistakes and errors in judgement in such a short period of time. 'The on field berating from Mitch Moses, now that's happened before, but it happened three times in five minutes. How do you come back from that? 'Mitchell Moses lost his you know what and I can understand it and I can imagine Parramatta fans losing it.' Voss' radio co-host Greg Alexander said he hadn't seen an on-field spray directed at a teammate like that in some time, but didn't fault Moses for his actions. 'I can't remember the last time I've saw a player berated like Da Silva was,' Alexander said. 'I don't think we've seen it happen plenty of times recently. That part of the game died out. 'He probably deserved it but it was tough.' The moments were applauded by former Panthers star Scott Sattler who praised the skipper for holding his teammates to account. 'When you have a young player coming into the group, you want to let him know what you are striving for as a group, what you are heading towards rather than what you're walking away from,' Sattler said on SEN 'I loved that from Mitchell Moses. 'There'd be no problem between the players. To Parramatta fans that should be a sign that you have a coach that is trying to drive high standards, and you have a captain that's driving the same standards. So when the coach turns his back, the captain is going to pick up the slack. 'If you're a Parramatta fan, I would think they would love seeing what they saw yesterday.'

With two rounds left in the season and a deep finals campaign potentially ahead, Fyfe will finish as not only one of the most decorated players in the club's history but also one of the game's greats. 'Retiring has been a conversation that has been ongoing for probably the last 12 months with my family, my partner Bridget, my close circle, JL (Justin Longmuir), Joe Brierty and Simon Garlick,' Fyfe said in a statement. 'It just feels like it's the right time. 'I'm just immensely grateful for what my AFL experience and playing with Fremantle has given to me. 'It's been an enormous opportunity and has taken me to places I could never have dreamed of. 'Knowing this is the end of my career, I leave with a sense of understanding that I don't need anything further, which is a really peaceful place to be, and yet myself - and the team - still find ourselves in a position where that elusive premiership dream is well and truly alive.' Fyfe was drafted by the Dockers with pick 20 in the 2009 draft before he made his debut the next season. He made history by becoming the first Fremantle player to win the Brownlow Medal after polling 31 votes in 2015 to claim his first. His second Brownlow Medal came four years later when he joined an exclusive club of players to nab two of the prestigious awards. He topped his previous effort by polling 33 votes. The superstar midfielder has endured a torrid run in recent years as he battles injuries, but will be hoping to go out on a high as the club prepare for a deep September run. 'Nat's legacy at the Fremantle Football Club will live on forever,' Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty said. 'What he has achieved over the span of his career, not only at an individual level but as a Club leader is something he should be immensely proud of,' Brierty said. 'When he arrived at the Club back in 2009 it was clear he had raw talent. 'Those early years saw a dedicated pursuit of excellence that would enable him to reach great heights in our game. 'With his decision to retire at the conclusion of our 2025 campaign, we know he will leave no stone unturned to make the most out of every moment left.' The Dockers will take on the Brisbane Lions on Friday night at Optus Stadium before they finish the home and away season against the Western Bulldogs.
